in that case everyone can go back to thinking poor people are just dirty

You might not like it on here...

How many young children use mumsnet?
I'm not keen on young children being exposed to bad language either.

It wasn't only about young children, though. It was about respect and being disgusting and the language people use today etc etc.

If you really don't like swearing, MN isn't the place for you.

Maireas · 12/08/2023 16:49

Literally no one is saying that. Not even the OP who's come in for some bashing.

That was to @Annaishere and the anti NHS dentistry comments.

multisurface · 12/08/2023 17:39

My NHS dentist had so many complaints and inspections after inspections that he closed his practice and it was bought over by someone else after lockdown. The irony is I paid for some of the work privately and some was the NHS scheme where you have to pay for a portion.

I am now attending a private dentist and it is costing an absolute fortune (thousands) to fix the bad dentistry he did.

Please don't shame people for having missing teeth. I am incredibly self conscious but it isn't my fault and someone making nasty comments on it is upsetting

Maireas · 12/08/2023 17:46

That's a horrible experience, @multisurface . I wouldn't blame people for having bad teeth, it's an indicator of a bigger problem.

W0MEN · 12/08/2023 17:47

I was at a theme park a couple of weeks ago and saw a Dad buy his son a beer. He must have been 12

Thank you @Maireas I hate my teeth I'm so self conscious it's not true.

I was a single parent on benefits at the time I started going to him - he was the only dentist accepting NHS adult patients.

My teeth are full of unnecessary fillings, I have failing crowns and bridges all over the place.

And none of it is my fault. I went for check ups every 6 months and I eat healthily, I don't smoke and I have good dental hygiene.

My current dentist has advised me to sue him. It is pointless to complain as he is no longer practicing.

Please don't judge adults for missing teeth @Window82

Maireas · 12/08/2023 17:53

It's a waste of time suing - I hope your new dentist sorts you out.

OP was actually in the fun house with the hall of mirrors and now realises the people she described was them.

It was only ever going to go one way and I assume that was exactly the way OP intended.

No harm to you, but if you had my teeth and were having to have bone injected because you lost so much before you could even get an implant you wouldn't be laughing

I've just - in the last month - had to have a fixed bridge removed - that I paid for - and the tooth beneath it that held the bridge has completely gone because he didnt' prep it properly.

I've a mouth with a gap at the front and false teeth elsewhere. To get my teeth decent is costing me somewhere in the region of 11,000 quid, when I already paid 2.5 to the butcher.

G'wan ahead and laugh at me.

DrSbaitso · 12/08/2023 18:19

Happy now, OP?

Maireas · 12/08/2023 18:53

@multisurface , horrendous. I can only imagine your pain and discomfort. It's outrageous that basic, quality dental care isn't available to everyone. Our family NHS dentist is fantastic, plus she sees us for emergencies and doesn't charge. We're lucky.

Summerwashout · 12/08/2023 19:47

@multisurface....

No.

I'm laughing at the fact im skimming a thread about bare chested men and suddenly its turned into a a dental issue.

It's not perosnal.

The OP literally had

lots of missing teeth in adults

as it's point 6

multisurface · 12/08/2023 20:21

And I have missing teeth.

So it's personal

Summerwashout · 12/08/2023 20:34

Though sometimes I see a reflection and think "What's my mother doing here" and discover its me !

The vast majority of both men and women had tattoos which I think are horrific.

Horrific, really? 🙄

‘Horrific is an adjective used to describe things which upset and frighten by their sheer mention.’

I'd say that applies to tattoos.

Theimpossiblegirl · 12/08/2023 22:20

This is such a horrible, judgemental thread. The snobbery is rife.

Ironically, many middle class families have been badly let down by the dental crisis.

It won't just be poor people with missing teeth.

XenoBitch · 12/08/2023 22:22

YABVU. Only point 7 is relevant really. The rest is you being a judgemental fuck.

So what would the MN crowd said if all i’d seen were women in flowery dresses, white trainers with thick soles and denim jackets?

it’s an observation not a judgment

Did I say the people with missing teeth were poor? I saw missing teeth. Not sure anyone who can afford a theme park ticket is poor nowadays!
