Not snobbish at all, it’s not unreasonable to expect people not to swear around children, it’s disgusting to hear the language people use in everyday conversation these days.
It’s all about respect … of which sadly there is now very very little.
It’s also about taking a pride in your appearance … another factor that is rapidly disappearing.
The British population are becoming slovenly and foul mouthed, sit on any high street and take note for 30 minutes, you’ll soon see that’s true.

How many young children use mumsnet?
I'm not keen on young children being exposed to bad language either.

Not really relevant to the thread but why did you have to yell in French??

Not relevant to thread but he was French and ignoring me when I said to mind his ciggie .

He was standing with a group , smoking p, putting his hand down to his side, then on his hip , then waving his hand , then to his mouth.
My DS head was at the right level . When I budged DS back , the smoker was chatting to his mates and moving a bit . I guessed he was French by his conversation
<Disclaimer > my French is shit , it is many years since I did Higher French . But the phrase Allez votre cigarrette . Le visage de ma fils did it .

Actually I'm with the Op on this one although the things that give me the ick very slightly.
I went to Maccies recently and a couple of topless teenage lads came in and sat at the table next to mine. Made me feel a bit ill.
I also went to a shopping mall recently which I hadn't been to for a long time and the vast majority of people were dressed really badly. There were a lot of large ladies and even many of those who weren't large all over had huge boobs, and were wearing really unflattering outfits. I'm big myself and I'm also broke so very little money for clothes but I try to dress in a way which is flattering for my size. I don't let it all just hang out.
The vast majority of both men and women had tattoos which I think are horrific.
A lot were vaping, even on the bus home, despite the signs, and the driver either was too afraid or couldn't be bothered to tell them not to.
And the swearing. It was f-ing this, f-ing that, regardless of whether it was in front of children or elderly people. I might occasionally swear in the privacy of my own home but never in public.
There are just no standards any more.
And yes, I know I'm judgemental. But people do judge, whether they admit it or not.

Everyone does, yes, totally agree.

Bloke walking down the street with a 9-month pregnant looking belly - I dare anyone not to think "urghh, put it away".

Woman with a fag hanging out of her mouth, Croydon facelift hairstyle, boobs on show and f this and f that, you say something to yourself even if you then shut yourself down. You have judged her.

Horrific, really? 🙄

‘Horrific is an adjective used to describe things which upset and frighten by their sheer mention.’

Annaishere · 11/08/2023 23:28

Also if you can’t pay private the nhs wreck your teeth so if you had a bad start with them they become unsalvageable without money

Sorry, what now?

Annaishere · 12/08/2023 14:59

@SpeedyMackechnie NHS dental work wrecks your teeth

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 12/08/2023 15:02

@Annaishere any proof of that such as Cochran systematic reviews?

Annaishere · 12/08/2023 15:04

@JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots indont know what that is but that’s my experience and also dentists I’ve spoken to

Maireas · 12/08/2023 15:12

Annaishere · 12/08/2023 14:59

@SpeedyMackechnie NHS dental work wrecks your teeth

That's a very bold claim.

Annaishere · 12/08/2023 15:14

They use cheap materials which need replaced a lot so more drilling of the enamel

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 12/08/2023 15:34

@Annaishere your experience does not equal that NHS dentists are shit and wreck your teeth!

Maireas · 12/08/2023 15:40

@Annaishere - no, whatever your personal experience, don't accuse all NHS dentists of "wrecking teeth". It's just not true.

Annaishere · 12/08/2023 16:00

Well why do you think poor people have bad teeth ?

Maireas · 12/08/2023 16:07

Poor diet. Poor dental hygiene. Not going to the dentist for check ups.

Window82 · 12/08/2023 16:10

I love how on MN it’s all like bashing me cos of describing undesirable behaviour but all of you describing it, that think it’s ok would hate to have people like that as neighbours.

I certainly wouldn’t want to see topless men, gold chained, foul mouthed swearing at their wives/partners. In front of their poor kids, who in turn shower at their Grandparents and mothers in particular. Mimicking their father’s behaviour. It shouldn’t be tolerated.

I know so many teens with braces on the NHS. In fact I don’t know anyone who could afford it privately.

OP posts:
Annaishere · 12/08/2023 16:10

I think that comes into it to an extent, especially early childhood nutrition but I’ve rarely met anyone who clearly didn’t regularly brush/ has constant bad breath

Maireas · 12/08/2023 16:13

Well, again, your personal experience doesn't necessarily reflect UK practises.

Annaishere · 12/08/2023 16:19

It does though. Eg a crown on the nhs is cheap metal bonded to plastic instead of expensive metal bonded to porcelain. They fall apart in less than 5 years

Maireas · 12/08/2023 16:21

Ok. Well I suggest that you take it up with a regulatory body, or get your MP to investigate. You obviously feel strongly, so it's pointless to argue about it.

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 12/08/2023 16:23

@Annaishere again you need to back up what you are saying with evidence. Your personal experience doesn't equal the experience of everyone. My NHS dentist is brilliant and I've been under his care for over 35 years. My children see him as does my mum. He does private work too. Ability to pay doesn't affect the quality of his work. You are detailing the thread now so maybe make your own thread to air your experience?

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 12/08/2023 16:23

Derailing*

Annaishere · 12/08/2023 16:29

I thought it was relative to the topic

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 12/08/2023 16:30

@Annaishere you thought wrong.
