Most soldiers art not aggressive but if they crawl into your bed etc they will bite you.

It looks like wasps to me.

You need to change your Tinder profile, then.

No crawlers and no biters.

This would stress me out if near my bedroom window and would need removing I’m afraid. Just get someone in to get rid OP and forget all this nonsense on here. From a conservation POV it’s one spider. Many thousands are probably destroyed across building sites etc on a daily basis. Other animals protect their habitats from what they perceive as potentially dangerous visitors. It’s part of nature - and a natural reaction if you are a human that is scared of spiders to want it away from your sleeping space where you feel most vulnerable.

Just been doing some googling and my bets on it being a funnel web spider for sure.

WhatcreaturemaderthishHellWEB · 08/08/2023 20:30

Funnel or tunnel.

The problem is I can't reach it if I wanted too (
And where is the inhabitants??

OP posts:
sparklins · 08/08/2023 20:33

It looks like a UK funnel web/tube web spider - not medically significant.
It's really hard to tell how large the hole is looking at the picture but I live quite rural and have seen some very large looking webs in the past which make you think the inhabitant is huge only for the spider to be a lot smaller than expected once they revealed themselves.

WhatcreaturemaderthishHellWEB · 08/08/2023 20:36

The opening is at least 50p or 50p and a half.

It's that coupled with what I saw on the the wall

Could you attach a wildlife camera to your bedroom window frame so you can see what leaves and enters the web? Some of the cameras are pretty affordable.

Vladi10 · 08/08/2023 20:39

I’m intrigued to know what it is now but as someone who is also terrified of spiders I’m not sure I could sleep knowing it was by my bedroom window!

trebarwith1 · 08/08/2023 20:55

Tube Web spider

DancingDaisyLdy · 08/08/2023 21:01

Following because I’m interested in what it is. Strangely, I found a dead insect in our garden recently, it looked like a cross between a cricket and a wasp, I’ve never seen anything like it before.

It's probably a House Spider's web... the massive brown spiders that come in the house in the Autumn and gallop across the floor. They make funnel webs. It's harmless.

What?? They already live in your house hence why they are house spiders

LostFrog · 08/08/2023 21:07

Do what @LuckyPeonies said and report back.
Where do you live OP?

Barbarolo · 08/08/2023 21:12

We have a similar looking nest above a door frame at work and it turns out that it’s a green fanged tube web spider. https://srs.britishspiders.org.uk/portal.php/p/Green-fanged+Tube+Web+Spider
We don’t bother it and it doesn’t bother us as they will bite if you aggravate them! 🕷️🕷️

Funnel webs stay on the ground - they don’t tend to climb.

WhatcreaturemaderthishHellWEB · 08/08/2023 21:16

@Barbarolo are you able to post a pic please

Sorry this was meant to be in response to someone saying it’s a funnel web nest. I live on the east coast of Australia and have only seen funnel webs on the ground in rocks/under logs etc. Haven’t seen webs like the one OP posted.

Balloonhearts · 08/08/2023 21:21

@Barbarolo Fuck. That. Shit. That would have to be evicted, harmless or not. One of us would be changing lodgings and I'm skint so...

Ejismyf · 08/08/2023 21:41

I had a nest like this next to my bedroom window last year absolutely horrified us what crawled out one night we were sat outside with a glass of wine. I was terrified Il look for the picture in my phone.

MinimalistMe · 08/08/2023 21:42

It's not a wasp nest. But jesus, what is it 😳

68rabbits · 08/08/2023 21:43

I am so invested in this thread. Please set up a wildlife cam and spotlight. We will watch it through the night for you to see what comes out!

dawngreen · 08/08/2023 21:49

I was beginning to think you fell out of the window in a panic holding a camera stick until you posted again.
