Helloooo lovely people, a new thread for a us to continue to chat and connect with other autistic women (small talk and word mincing not required). 😊

As before, anybody newly stumbling upon this is very welcome to join us (even if still awaiting diagnosis). But we'd be grateful if others could leave us alone please, like the NT man we encountered in thread #1. 🤣

Can you link to the other thread please? I am pretty sure I am autistic, after years of trying to persuade myself I’m ‘normal’. Would love to chat to others who think a bit like me.

howdoyoulikethemweeds · 06/08/2023 11:26

Ah just found it. Will take a look.

Nepmarthiturn · 06/08/2023 12:06

Yes sorry, should have linked it!

Thank you for the new thread!

Reintroducing myself - diagnosed autistic, adhd as fuck, rsd, gad and all the rest. Along with medical issues. But feeling fine. 😎. Age 65, mensa-tested iq 156. Knowing I'm neurodivergent has made a lot of difference to my self-confidence and self-esteem - I'm not just an idiot, I'm living with disabilities.

Hello to everyone, hope you're all enjoying your day.

StopStartStop · 06/08/2023 12:29

@Nepmarthiturn , thank you for the new thread and for the time and effort you put into this.

thehedhogcanneverbebuggered · 06/08/2023 12:38

Hello and thankyou for this thread! Really great to have visibility in the main chat 🤩
I'm 46, diagnosed autistic this year and have been working through the shock of that as well as PTSD from childhood/teen years. Suspected ADHD too.
Lovely to have supportive people here as I'm currently in serious burnout and have given up making new friends irl at the moment, hoping to change that as I come to terms with diagnosis and where I go from here😊 (my parents were not supportive at all).

I'm a mum to grownups and an 11month old pup who is a little bugger at the moment!

Not sure what else to say at the moment but I'm going to keep checking back here, lovely to meet you all🤩🌸

OwlsRock · 06/08/2023 12:41

Hello @Nepmarthiturn thanks for the new thread

Hope to keep up with this one.

As I updated right at the end of the last one, quick recap

Finally diagnosed (mid forties) with autism and ADHD. I'm officially AuDHD. This followed a child being diagnosed with Asd I'm waiting review for potential medication.
I work FT and am single parent. 😊

Welcome all. I’m going to skip the niceties and just state - pet photos are very much welcome (demanded)!

StopStartStop · 06/08/2023 12:46

Hi hedhog! I misread that as 'the hedgehog can never be buggered' and had a few minutes exploring the mental pictures. 😁

I just read it about 5 times and still saw that 😆

Thanks for the new thread, can't believe the last one filled up so quickly. Quick re-cap on me both myself and DD have ASD, I was diagnosed first and then her a year later (that was over a decade ago), DH has bipolar but I'm 99% sure he has ASD as well.

Currently on edge because we have a couple of guys in sorting the garden out and I hate people being in (well outside of) my safe haven. I can't just let the dogs out for a wee so keep having to take them on short walks and the cats are both in a mood because of the noise. I can't wait for them to finish so I can just relax 😔

TheShellBeach · 06/08/2023 16:49

@OwlsRock Hi. I meant to acknowledge that you'd posted about getting your diagnosis on the last thread.
Are you now sitting back and making sense of your life? Ask the things that somehow went wrong, despite your best intentions?
Etc. You know what I mean.........

Linney.
My cat.
He likes jumping on the wardrobe.

TheShellBeach · 06/08/2023 16:52

And Emerald, who sadly died a month ago.

I'll try again with a picture of Linney.

Love the cat photos!

crackofdoom · 06/08/2023 17:00

Hello! Nice to chat with other autistic people, but what happened to the Neurodivergent Mumsnetters topic?! It was great. Problem is, I think they hid it because it was attracting unwelcome attention, and then we all forgot about it.

Here is Nemmypoof (Anemone) flaunting her toe floofage.

Hi @crackofdoom
Does your cat manage to groom herself?
Linney is getting on now, and not so good at it.

TheShellBeach · 06/08/2023 17:10

BTW all, I've just abandoned a thread where people are telling me it's weird to do washing on holiday.
I always do. Why anyone thinks it's wrong or it means I don't enjoy being on holiday, I do not know.
So I've hidden it.

TheShellBeach · 06/08/2023 17:12

I've hidden the thread, I mean, not the washing.
I would feel very anxious if I took cases full of dirty washing home.

I wash in holiday, otherwise dirty clothes touch clean clothes in the case.

To the person that was talking about food delivery and meal plans, I hear you.
I switched to Ocado as they almost NEVER substitute and when they do it's usually a sensible one.
Shopping costs about the same as it did from my previous supermarket too!

heartofglass23 · 06/08/2023 17:18

Hi, missed the other thread.

MN can be hard for NDs at times. Lots of negative stereotypes.

I'm middle aged, recently ASD diagnosed.

I have a high IQ but am low functioning as my social skills are so underdeveloped.

Every day is a struggle.

I have DCs. 2 also ASD but we all present so differently!

MumofoneASD · 06/08/2023 17:31

Hi, not sure if I posted on the last thread, have been awaiting a diagnosis for a year or so, had a teams consultation last week and the psychiatrist said he will formally diagnose me with ASD, just needs DH to fill a form in (childhood friend did it already but he wants another one.)

Also waiting for ADHD assessment - think I have about another years wait for that one - I've had the 'pre-assessment' and they've spoken to DH and said they think it's probable that I have ADHD so have put me on the waiting list for a full assessment.

Just can't believe really how much of 'me' has been masking, my whole life. That my 'tantrums' as a child were not 'tantrums' and certainly not because I was a 'spoilt bitch' (DF - not so D really.)
Everything has been such a hard slog, and now I know it's not because I'm stupid. And I can cut myself some slack.

I'm mid fifties now so hoping to get another 25 years plus of not trying so hard to fit in!!

I wash clothes on holiday too - and take black sacks to put any dirty washing in so it doesn't touch the clean clothes. In fact I probably take more plastic bags to put shoes, dirty stuff etc in than I do clothes.
