My cousins are here for two weeks

Two weeks is a long time to think a family can tour them around
Cook and clean for them?

Or am I being too mean?

I'm so sick of walking in pee from the husband in the toilet
It's everywhere

I just had to clear all his breakfast food up
With a baby in my arms screaming her head off

Aghhhhhhhjjj

Sorry all just needed to vent

They also keep leaving the baby gate open and I'm constantly trying to get the toddler off the stairs

Flip sake

'what are you plans for today?' is always a good way to start

RaininSummer · 31/07/2023 10:18

Tell them now what days you free for outings and plan them. Tell them they are free range other days and maybe suggest places to go. Ask them if they want to do dinner some days?

RaininSummer · 31/07/2023 10:19

And leave out sponge or mop and spray for the pissy one.

thisisasurvivor · 31/07/2023 10:20

Yes true

We are in the middle of no where

They don't drive

They are lovely

But two fcking weeks
Two weeks?!!!!!

One week perfect

I have already taken them out every day

Bin, floormat and toilet all covered In his pee

Every single time

"cousin, you've left the bathroom in mess, pee everywhere. Can you clean it up so that the next person can use it?"

ApolloandDaphne · 31/07/2023 10:24

There is no way i would put up with a pissy floor. Have you told him to clean it up? I had workmen in for a long time and i told them they could use the loo as long as they used the cleaning products provided if needed. Dirty loo meant i would stop access to it. My loo was left pristine every day.

CharliesAngles · 31/07/2023 10:27

Absolutely get where you coming from OP, as I’ve just literally come out of the other side as they left for the airport this morning

My DC air hockey table has two pencil sized holes gouged in it (got it for Christmas, so still almost like new)
I could cry.

Went to the top floor where they stayed, no word of a lie - a whole toilet bowl full of 💩left unflushed!

And 💩stains on the bedsheets, and this was the adult’s room!

I feel sick.
And they come here every year, so it’ll be the same again.

FirstDayOfHoliyays · 31/07/2023 10:27

"Erm, you've pissed all over the floor. Go and clean it up and close the baby gates on your way."

LetItGoHome · 31/07/2023 10:28

Perhaps offer pissy cousin a torch so he can see better when using the toilet? 🤔 But perhaps that tact will be too subtle 😬

Well more fool you for putting up with it

usedtobeasizeten · 31/07/2023 10:29

‘Brian, I’ve left xxx in the toilet for you to clean up after you’ve used it, thanks!’

‘Brian, are you finished with breakfast? Put the plate in the dishwasher if so, thanks!’ I wouldn’t spare his feelings, I’d have to tell him.

cuckyplunt · 31/07/2023 10:29

You can buy toilet target stickers for toddlers on Amazon. Get some.

My MIL is a strange, buttoned-up prissy woman, but I will always be grateful to her for teaching her son to sit down on the loo whilst peeing.

Janieforever · 31/07/2023 10:29

I guess you didn’t expect them to stay so long and it’s a surprise to you, not something you agreed to?

PurpleChrayne · 31/07/2023 10:32

Don't bottle things up. Mention/confront stuff as it happens.

"Could you make sure the toilet floor is clean?"

"Please clean up after breakfast."

Genuine question: how were you brought up, to take all of this lying down and not demand better behaviour from guests? It's unthinkable to me.

CharliesAngles · 31/07/2023 10:35

@Hoppinggreen

I know, I’m a fecking mug. I asked them about the the toilet and they blamed the child saying and I quote “she is famous for not flushing!”.

Re the air hockey table holes - apparently they were already there…

Yeah… No.

You belong at the top of the MN passive aggressions thread that has been running.

thisisasurvivor · 31/07/2023 10:40

I knew they were here for two weeks

I'm sick of cleaning up piss

Every fcking where

OP posts:
Chellybelle · 31/07/2023 10:40

You agreed to it. Not many people would put up with relatives staying that amount of time.

CharliesAngles · 31/07/2023 10:41

@PurpleChrayne

Apparently I have high standards and “You’re always cleaning!”.

This is the first time it’s been an issue re 💩and obviously the air hockey table as it is new.

Brought up the same, but now they live in a different country hence staying here.
I will not be available next year.
We are already thinking ahead to be away ourselves coincidentally at the same time so they will have to find alternative accommodation.

Keykaty · 31/07/2023 10:45

Two nights is the maximum here. We are close enough to the airport/trains so the deal is they can stay over and be on their way pronto. This is understood now, but it took a while to get the rule in place!

thisisasurvivor · 31/07/2023 10:45

And they had a fight last night so kids walked in to him sprawled on the sofa this morning in his pants

Fck my life

Fccccck

Yes I agreed did not think it would be this bad

OP posts:
greenacrylicpaint · 31/07/2023 10:46

2 weeks is a lot.
but tbh stop giving a fuck.
do your thing and your cousins can do theirs.

and (politely) make clear to them that you are not a hotel. if they expect hotel service they need book, and pay for, a hotel.

MrsSkylerWhite · 31/07/2023 10:47

Tell them to leave today. Unacceptable behaviour.
