A tortured soul

RIP Sinead,

WhatWouldHopperDo · 26/07/2023 19:45

So sad. I saw her in London many moons ago. They were filming a music video on a street behind an office building. I was absolutely mesmerised. The crew were all buzzing around doing their thing and she was standing very serenely in the centre of it all waiting for the next take.

RIP Sinead.

UneFoisAuChalet · 26/07/2023 19:45

Black boys on mopeds. Still one of my favourites. RIP Sinead.

Zonder · 26/07/2023 19:46

Beautiful tortured soul. Amazing talent.
May you rest in peace now.

continentallentil · 26/07/2023 19:46

Oh that is sad.

I loved loved her first album when I was a teen.

caringcarer · 26/07/2023 19:47

RIP Sinead. You left a beautiful legacy for the world. X

Clymene · 26/07/2023 19:47

She had one of the purest most beautiful voices I've ever heard. She was a genius. What a dreadful loss

adriftabroad · 26/07/2023 19:47

Am genuinely so sad.
She could not live through that grief, I could not either.

Scout2016 · 26/07/2023 19:49

Such sad news. I'd been hoping she'd play live again but thought it unlikely anytime soon after her loss. This is just so sad.

I came to her music by mistake after a cd mix up at the library 20 odd years back. What a wonderful mistake - whoever put Sinead's best of in that box instead of whatever I'd intended to borrow did me such a good turn.

As PPs have said, the You're Wrong About podcast and the audio book of her memoir are brilliant, she reads it so well. Such a brave woman and so badly treated by so many. What a loss.

oakleaffy · 26/07/2023 19:51

I’m shocked.
I didn’t know about the loss of her son, either.
If there is any form of Spiritual life, hopefully they will be reunited.

A beautiful voice.
Rest in peace, Sinead🙏

That's terribly sad, poor Sinead, hope she's at peace now.

Whattosay81 · 26/07/2023 19:52

Gosh I was just listening to Eurythmics and thought who else has a voice as amazing as Annie Lennox and could only think of Sinead O’Connor. RIP Sinead.

Basketballqueen · 26/07/2023 19:52

Loved her, RIP. Despite her MH struggles, she was actually right about so many things yet pilloried for speaking out.

Mala53 · 26/07/2023 19:53

My late father sung the poignant Scarlet Ribbons to me at night too when I was very small.
I am singing it softly now and remembering Dad and me with great love.

Ohmylovejune · 26/07/2023 19:54

Nothing compares to you was number 1 and the first dance my husband and I danced to. Been married over 30 years!

Chickenkeev · 26/07/2023 19:54

That documentary will be on sky documentaries at 9 on the 29th.

Sugarplumfury · 26/07/2023 19:57

She had so much tragedy in her life. Poor woman. She was so very talented . What a tragic loss .

Oblomov23 · 26/07/2023 19:57

Blogswife · 26/07/2023 19:58

ArabeIIaScott · 26/07/2023 19:58

Oh, no. This is so very sad.

Anyfeckinusername · 26/07/2023 19:59

Sinead was one of a kind. I feel devastated by her death.

Met her a couple of times, she was a tour de force, and saw her hop up on stage at a gig in Dun Laoghaire. She was marvellous.

I loved her mad and relentless way of existing, we just loved you Sinead.

Rest in peace with Shane ❤️

coxesorangepippin · 26/07/2023 20:00

Rip Sinead 💕 for the music

RIP Sinead, she was an amazing talent, but had such a hard life.

One of my memorable songs from her is one she did with Shane McGowan, it was genius. Her amazing angelic voice vs his rough guttural voice. Can't remember the name of the song now.

Haunted.

Gorgeous song.

A talented, principled and brave woman. She stood up for what she believed in. That voice, those eyes. Ah Sinéad, I’m so sorry. RIP

Gazelda · 26/07/2023 20:01

I've been trying to think about why her death has affected me so much more than the deaths of other celebrities I admired.

I think it's because with others (Bowie, George Michael, Amy etc) I've been sad at the loss of an immense talent. But with Sinead, it's sadness at the thought of the traumatic life she's had and that it's now ended before she could (possibly) find happiness. It feels more personal and relatable.

RIP Sinead. Find peace with your boy.
