You asked if the men going around taking girls and women, presumably also being violent generally, had a reason. It’s not far off asking if they have an excuse imo. What possible excuse could they have, that women and girls have not always had more of, given the way we are all treated by the males to whom we give life? I have no wish to justify men any more. My point is, is that I’m always in such disbelief reading stories like this and I don’t understand why these acts of violence are carried out. I don’t understand why a person would feel the need to take their siblings life. I just don’t understand it.

Sibling to sibling sexual abuse is all too common in foster care unfortunately.

BBC Scotland reported that Amber left the care of the Niven family and moved into the children's home in 2019, when she was 14. Her brother remained with them until he was 18 in 2020. He then moved into a homeless hostel where he was staying at the time of the offence - they have CCTV of his comings and goings on the day of the murder.

I don't think there's any benefit in speculating about why the foster placement broke down for Amber or why the two children were placed into care in the first place. It sounds like Amber had a really shitty start in life, a difficult childhood and an awful demise.

What happened to this girl in her 16 years to make her so vulnerable to these men? Why wasn't she protected? It's shocking. Our care system is shit- it damages children and their lives, it doesn't repair damage. At least 3 of the people in this scenario have been through the care system.

This poor girl's life makes me question how many men are just not caught, or have urges to do these things. I hope not but I think probably many more than we would think.

Yes and the bastard denied he had done anything to her and had no explanation why his DNA (semen) was found in 39 places on her body- including intimate areas. His father lied and said he had been with him all weekend - he should be locked up as well as his filthy son. You wonder what went on in that house in the past.
