Has anyone else given up on Summer?

After another miserable weekend, I feel like packing away the summer dresses and shorts 😢

It was so dull and cool this morning when I was getting dressed for work, I pulled out the opaque tights!

I feel so depressed to be giving up on summer at the end of July😞

Anyone else feeling this way?

One downside is that the utility room is draped with damp clothes. I'd rather use the tumble dryer minimally, or not at all, at this time of year.

But it really is shit weather. I'm all for putting on waterproofs and getting the dog out....but you can back cold, wet, muddy and I had enough of that in the 7 months of winter we had here in the North West.

Same here. I’ve got a dog and a horse so I’m out and about in all weathers, sometimes knee deep in mud. I’ve got good waterproofs and wellies, but I’m not sitting in a pub garden, or having a bbq or going to the beach in pissing rain. It’s not fun.

I built decking in my garden when we had the nice weather back in June. I’ve yet to sit on it.

We have a huge sailing event here this week. My town is usually rammed. It’s not even usual summer holiday busy, let alone the amount of people who usually visit this week. I picked my daughter up from work last night and town looked like a damp February night with no one about. No one is going to go out to the bars or outdoor events in this weather.

So many things have been cancelled this summer - charity events, car boot sales, with the best will in the world, no one is going to tog themselves up in waterproofs to trudge round a field in the pissing rain.

We do have some sun and a break from rain today, but we’ve got a yellow weather warning for tomorrow.

I am on the south coast and it has been constant rain and grey skies other than Saturday which was lovely. Looks like it is set to continue for the next week too. 😞

It really hasn't been constant rain though. Most days have had just short, sharp showers and sunny spells. I know because I am out in it

Today hasn’t been too bad. We have actually got out for a nice walk today which was nice. Most days have been wet at some point and tomorrow’s forecast looks awful with more rain and strong winds. It really hasn’t felt like summer.

I'm not saying crack on with the BBQ in the driving rain.

I'm just saying stop letting it ruin your days. Yes some days are just shit. But it rarely rains all day every day for days on end. There are breaks in the weather. And it's often the case in the UK that if we get an awful month of summer then the later summer and autumn can be quite nice

I totally get the feeling of being cheated. I work outside, in a tourism related business. It's bloody hard hard going at the moment.

@WestwardHo1 You've reminded me of summers (so called) in the 60s on Westward Ho! beach when the wind was sideways but DM was mad keen on us being in the fresh air and making the most of the beach. Egg, tomato and sand sandwiches for lunch. I always thought that was why they were called sandwiches when I was 8 years old.

Windbreaks weren't invented just for fun, you know.

Speaking of Tewkesbury

And the same has happened this year.
