What are your most remembered threads or posters ?

I know this has been done before but I'm bored shitless.

@StGertrude Me too. The good old days when all the children were genius doctors and every sheep came with its own Christmas lights 🤣

Crumbs was hilarious. She reminded me of Bridget Jones mother

There was a male poster, whose name I forget now, who confessed to driving a dog (his neighbours possibly?) to the countryside and leaving it tied to a fence pole. Always thought he must be a vile individual in real life.

@DogSitterMum The rich London one was PeachMilk/VogueVE!

There was a poster named crying very quietly (CVq) who was perhaps vulnerable or maybe a liar.
she was renamed quite quickly as whinging very loudly and similar versions of that.

there was a poster who had terrible presents from her mil - a length of knicker elastic one year iirc

There were many many pram threads.

There was a long running thread ‘sleep is for the weak’ and another where posters tried to eat 10 or more of their 5 a day (fruit/veg)

37 metres of elastic
And some plastic spoons

A wonderfully strong lady called WellWhoKnew and her long-running divorce saga. I hope she's around and happy.

Yes that’s it!

The only male poster whose name I could remember when I posted was PigletJohn and I knew that he wasn’t the one who had posted the terrible story about the dog.

I remember him. From some things he posted, he must have lived fairly close to me.

SgtPercyTwentyman · 24/07/2023 00:15

TwitterQueen RIP. I read her posts but never knew who she was until, at a memorial service for a friend, one of her daughters mentioned she was on MN under that name. She was a smashing lady IRL.

HoneyDragon · 24/07/2023 00:18

Weird. I’ve been feeling nostalgic this evening for the Pop Idol/XFactor threads and lovely Wand Erection.

Thought I’d have a mooch and see if any were still standing and find all these lovely names being mentioned. Truly sorry to hear about Noddy.

YouBetYourBippy · 24/07/2023 00:22

The Balonz thread (mentioned upthread) honestly had me in stitches at the time.

I also contributed to a few of the Christmas collections back in the day and still remember LittleLapin's mega organisation efforts.

OnlyJoking is a poster that always stayed with me for some reason. And VeniVidiVicky (?) And Hecate. Although I never particularly interacted with any of them!

RitzyMcFitzy · 24/07/2023 00:23

I loved Crumbs' fantasies about village nativity plays, and her 5 ever so successful adult children, and her fancy Surrey bedroom which google images told us was apparently in a Parisian hotel. But her heyday was 2017 or so, so post-penis beaker and therefore not officially 'old days MN'.

Yes, I'm a nerd. Why do you ask?

mellicauli · 24/07/2023 00:23

I've been here on and off since 2003.

It wasn't a comfortable place back then. Sometimes you put a comment you didn't even think was controversial and the ferocity of the responses was scary. I never feel the need to name change after an exchange now, which I did back then.

The threads that always stick with me are the ones of women in abusive relationships trying to escape. I didn't really appreciate the true horror of it until I read it here. The manipulative behaviour. The administrative nightmare. The vulnerability of the position some women are in. It truly opened my eyes.

Gosh, you’re all making me feel
old and nostalgic. Some
of the posters named were incredibly
kind to me at points when I needed it more than I realised at the time.

LaQueen was a great poster, as was BupcakesandBunting.

Miss those two plus the others above. There was also a poster around the time of the Referendum whose name is on the tip of my tongue - antagonist, difficult and very opposing views to me but used to get thread roaring along!

My first thread was ‘YOUR BUSH!’ aka ‘I forgot to pack my bikini bottoms!’

@YellowAndGreenToBeSeen

yeah, LaQueen was great, absolutely FULL of utter bullshit, but still loved posts about her house her DH & her girls.

it was 'ya minge'

i loved 'I AM CANADIAN'

i miss the old days A Lot.

MillicentTrilbyHiggins · 24/07/2023 01:03

I remember one Poster. She was a bit odd, Her name had Rose in it.

I remember one post that was about her awful neighbours. About a billion posts in it turned out that the only thing these neighbours did was walk past her house on the way out of the street. (I've got a feeling they lived in a cul-de-sac so they literally had no choice to go out another way.) And I think the neighbours child has the audacity to ride her scooter. I don't think anyone ever got to the bottom of quite what was so awful about it all.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 24/07/2023 01:04

Oh yes I AM CANADIAN was brilliant. The way the original poster just blindly carried on spouting their assumptions in the face of facts.

I remember there used to be a way of doing blank posts that really upset tech.

FFSwhatisthis · 24/07/2023 01:08

DogSitterMum · 23/07/2023 23:20

Who was the one that we all thought was super rich in London and ot turned out to be fake?

Was that not Crumbs?

There was also a lady whose daughter did dancing, I loved reading her threads.

Do you mean LeQueen?

the dancing mum still posts, brain fog is thick tonight... I'll be back when I remember her user name.

@ChazsBrilliantAttitude

yes, it was brackets. I'm not sure it still works or of I can remember properly how the naughty girls <ahem> used to do it.

And then there was the Mitmoo evening. It was not long after I'd arrived and I wasn't quite sure what was happening but it was quite funny as a spectator, I seem to remember it ended with lots of posters changed their name to have Mitmoo in. So I'd have become "MitmooThursday" or similar.
For a while if anyone mentioned Mitmoo the post got deleted, I think.

Somebody wrote ‘mitmoo’ in flowers 😂😂
