What are your most remembered threads or posters ?

I know this has been done before but I'm bored shitless.

I remember Spook's threads about her horrible husband and his affair. I miss Pruni, Hunker, MotherInferior, CountessDracula, wickedwaterwitch, Marina, snafu, Mars, Tinker, princesspeahead, Edith, Aloha, fairyfly, custy...no idea if any of them are still here.

lavenderrrr, judge flounce, the bat...all good fun.

I lurk much much more than I post these days. MN used to be a place where you could actually laugh, connect with people and make friends; now it's just painful to read 90% of threads.

I lurked for years. I always thought Marmalade and cupcakes were the same person.

lottiejenkins I think is wilfs mum. I loved reading her threads. I think she was around recently but doesn’t update about wilf.

Wilf's Mum is definitely still around and still mentions him but not as much. I won't give her username obvs, but she's still around.

Vicar was still very much around last week, but flounced (again)

I firmly believe Mexican house thief was bollocks, as were the fat balls.

Some of my favourite threads were with Getorf. I was ridiculously chuffed when she named me as one of her favourite MNers.

I was part of a spin off after the NYE debacle along with Derek, Usual, Sparklingbrook, Honeydragon etc. Good people one and all.

MorningPaper's round-ups were magnificent.

And I owe a lot to people like Dittany.

Agree with previous comments about Cog, less so about WWIFN. She took over every relationship thread and projected her own, often irrelevant story onto it.

I can't quite remember when I first joined, certainly when we lived in Switzerland so probably about 15 years ago.
Our upstairs neighbour was the vilest person I had met until then. Our DD called her Kreeher, hence my old user name kreecherlivesupstairs.
I clearly remember Pinot et al cos I was a wolef.
Life moves on, we have been back in England for 9 years, but I recall yum yum Franky with fondness

I remember VicarinaTutu or similar who facilitated a whole serious of "Village" threads in the Mental Health board which were friendly, lovely and supportive with a real mix of old timers and newer mumsnetters.

I'm so glad those threads are remembered with fondness

Yeah vicar flounced (again ) after being flamed for a load of shite she didn't argue against ( me )

I'm very ill with spinal tuberculosis. And this place isn't what it was .

Well, in a splendidly serendipitous moment, I once made a PayPal payment on your behalf for something - a fundraiser or sponsor thing, and you sent it me in the post.

Can't remember the details, can you?
Probably 10 years back? I was in Italy.

penelopepipsqueak · 23/07/2023 22:50

The premise of those threads were it takes a village to raise a child - or look after each other

Fluffy took them over until she died .

I really am glad someone remembers those threads ! I'm still on sertraline and I still struggle with MH issues since those days I left dh
Been alone for many years now . And unfortunately my physical health took a hit thanks to "the job " and I'm undergoing chemo for tb of the spine .
It's been hard !
I miss this place so much at times .

Mydogisagentleman · 23/07/2023 22:55

@whenIwadafieldmyself.
Yes, vaguely. AFAIR, it was some wool.
Definitely wasn't for Eilish, I sent dvds directly to the hospital

Noddy (RIP)

Did Noddy die? How sad, if so. I joined in 2004 but always felt a bit on the outside as my children were all already quite old. It seemed to me everyone else was getting pregnant or giving birth ( remember the birth announcement threads?) and I felt a bit old. Noddy and I bonded a bit as she had a son the same age as mine.

ThePoshUns · 23/07/2023 22:59

Yes, sadly. Noddy passed away during COVID. Very sad indeed. She was a lovely person and I miss her.

WhenIWasAFieldMyself · 23/07/2023 23:00

I didn't realise Noddy had died either. RIP.

hallana · 23/07/2023 23:03

I'm sorry you're so ill, @penelopepipsqueak Flowers

That is sad. I have a feeling she lived in Brighton which was not far from me then? We never met as I wasnt brave enough for the meet ups, though, like others here, some Mners became good RL friends.

RIP Noddy.

FiddleMinger · 23/07/2023 21:04

Too many to mention over the years, but I did like the Rhubarb and Custardo friendship.

Not intended to be unkind, but I also didn’t understand the Cod love either. I used to amuse myself by thinking “here come the Tena Ladies, wetting and falling over themselves to snortle over every one of Cod’s posts”. Quite bizarre.

DawnTigga’s sign-offs used to amuse me, but others sometimes commented unkindly about it.

Also I recall Shine… something to do with a crazy diamond, or something.

The above are just named that came to mind today.

DawnTigga was rude and awful

Tigresswoods · 23/07/2023 23:07

I'm sorry have we all forgotten the great penis beaker incident? That just ran & ran for months!

DogSitterMum · 23/07/2023 23:08

I received so much help and advice on here when I was struggling. So many funny threads kept me going.

I never got the COD adoration nor the AnyFucker fangirls. EatShitDerek, SparklingBrook and UsualSuspect I remember. Was there not something about EatShitDerek being banned at one point? I can’t remember the username of the person but there was a huge drama over a go fund me page when someone’s wife died.

DogSitterMum · 23/07/2023 23:11

I loved Crumbs too and their eccentric stores of the sheep adorned in Christmas lights at the Christingle service 😂

Caroline.
It was a scam.

Imdrivinginmygetawaycar · 23/07/2023 23:15

Who was the one that we all thought was super rich in London and ot turned out to be fake?

And rich woman in France.

And marriedinwhite.
And there was a poster I really loved and agreed with her posts and can't for the life of me remember her name.

Not ages ago but a while back - the lady that got in the swimming pool after taking her swimming bottoms off?

The lady that worked in a bookshop had a baby the same night as me (I name change often)

Gosh so many years when may babies were small and I just can't recall names!

Imdrivinginmygetawaycar · 23/07/2023 23:16

Oh and the o e that went on and on about not kneojg she was pregnant when she gave birth.

That turned out to be fake?

Thank you I couldn’t remember her name but I remember the threads ran for ages and there were photos on them. If I remember correctly he said there was a child involved too?

That was when it all started to change.

GardeningIdiot · 23/07/2023 23:19

I'm so sorry, @penelopepipsqueak. I hope that you are making progress Flowers

Imdrivinginmygetawaycar · 23/07/2023 23:19

Yeah Penis beaker was definitely the downhill moment for me.

15 years ago I felt like I "knew" or at least recognised posters.

DogSitterMum · 23/07/2023 23:20

Was that not Crumbs?

There was also a lady whose daughter did dancing, I loved reading her threads.
