That's the thing. It isn't constant pissing rain here. It's pleasant, sometimes wet, sometimes not. I was more Thank Fuck for That, rather than What The Fuck about getting home just as the reports of the area I passed through going up in flames were on the news.

Your small crop of blackberries (I presume you've had more sun this year than we have here in Edinburgh if they are out - lucky you) is not of any real interest to anyone but you

A company wanting to make money making wine or it raining in Edinburgh is not of any real interest to me, either. My family haven't lived there for fifty years. Who knows - maybe the weather was one of the reasons my father felt the urge to move south, rather than just improved employment opportunities for qualified personnel?

Is the forthcoming increase in food prices of any interest to you? Or the impact on livelihoods as a result of this endless rain? Or is it just your blackberries?

Interesting that you dad chose to move south for the weather. What a disappointment this year.

There's always increases in food prices. We saw them last year from the droughts. Then there's Brexit. And overseas weather fucking things over, both in cold and at present in too fucking hot.

And the rain is not endless everywhere. That's the point. It might very well be pissing down somewhere. But it's not that bad here and anybody insisting that it is freezing cold and pissing down everywhere so everybody must agree with them now isn't correct.

I don't think my father would mind too much about the weather, though. He's been dead for a while and wasn't a fan of sunburn with his complexion, either.

Rockschooldropout · 02/08/2023 13:09

@WestwardHo1 There’s no evidence of anything resembling summer for the next few weeks and September is Autumn

I mean the same could be said about the current heat wave. 🤷🏻‍♀️

And the heat is not endless everywhere. That's the point. It might very well be sunny somewhere. But it's not that bad here and anybody insisting that it is melting and boiling hot everywhere so everybody must agree with them now isn't correct.

So no then.

It's a good job he wasn't a fan of sunburn - no danger of that this month and last.

Except for the sunburn I did get from missing a spot with sunblock, you mean?

you got sunburn in July ? Did ye, aye

@NeverDropYourMooncup

any way even if you did, no big deal. You’ll know to apply it better next time. No reason for days of pissing rain to be preferable to some actual summer weather in the actual summer time

Ok, be miserable. It's all the same to me!

SirChenjins · 02/08/2023 16:44

Not miserable, realistic. Unless of course you meant that the realistic weather prospects are pretty miserable.

The poster isn't being miserable, they are merely stating a fact, the weather for the rest of August here look just as shit as it was in July.

Pretending it's likely to get better and lying to yourself isn't going to magically change the forecast.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 02/08/2023 16:50

LuckySantangelo35 · 02/08/2023 14:20

@NeverDropYourMooncup

Forehead, actually, just above the eyebrow. It's what comes from my genetics.

Got sunburn in January a few years back, too. Went from 'Oh, a bit of sunshine during my break, isn't that nice' to 'Fuck's sake - January?' with the dodgy facelift feeling by the evening.

But seeing as the 'it's impossible for anybody to be comfortable anywhere in the UK because I'm cold here' statement is about as accurate as 'It was physically impossible for anybody anywhere in the UK to get sunburn in July 2023' - but then it's OK, it doesn't count anyhow when it was 81F in the first week - it's just people more interested in validating their misery than fact.

Daftasabroom · 02/08/2023 17:26

@WestwardHo1 it'll perk up a bit in 6 to 10 days time.

But I'm looking at the weather forecast for my area! I'm not "lying to myself" 😂

Granted I don't know where other people live. But I'm not going to be miserable on their behalf - we get our fair share of shit weather here.

Why is the weather so shit?
megletthesecond · 02/08/2023 18:00

I think the farmers would like some dry weather to get the harvest in.

I believe blackberries are doing very well this year - we can eat that and mud, it’ll be a hoot.

YorkieTheRabbit · 02/08/2023 18:25

I’m so sick of the rain. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love some warm sunshine but I’d settle for it just being dry.
My blueberry bushes are shite, the garden is full of wet rose petals and we’ve got over 40 rose bushes so that’s a lot of sodding petals.
The Annabelle hydrangeas have been completely flattened and that’s with supports in, they are just hanging limply.
It’s cool, feels like 12 and still raining. Unless someone has a medical condition I can’t think anyone will be sweating in this.

Well whoopy do for you, no wonder you aren't miserable then if you've got lovely blue skies and sun. I meant you were basically implying that, that poster was lying about the forecast where she was being shit and telling her to be miserable was totally unnecessary.

A vast portion of the UK has truly shite weather right now and it won't get better so why can't we moan about it? If you've got lovely weather good for you but maybe instead of being sanctimonious you could leave the rest of us to commiserate in peace.

WestwardHo1 · 02/08/2023 18:50

Calm down, I'm just trying to inject a bit of positivity. I had a look round the UK forecasts and Plymouth is by no means the only place which is due a bit of dry weather in the next ten days. Have a look yourself. I didn't accuse anyone of lying FFS . Forecasts change and develop all the time, so I just suggested that the poster had another look. I've also suggested elsewhere that people stop just looking at the summary of a day on the BBC site (for example), because they tend to go with worst case scenario. A day with a couple of showers at midday when otherwise dry will be given as wet all day in the summary.

And FYI the job I do involves long days outside in the wind and rain. I have been affected by the weather this summer than most people, including pretty much everyone on this thread I should imagine. Part of my job involves having to make calls on likely weather conditions.

"Whoopy do for you" indeed. How old?

SirChenjins · 02/08/2023 18:53

I don’t recall anyone requesting your ‘positivity’, so you can save it - we’re just fine without it.

YourNameGoesHere · 02/08/2023 18:56

SirChenjins · 02/08/2023 18:53

Exactly.

I also absolutely refuse to believe you've been affected more than most people on this thread due to the weather, some people on this thread have had their whole livelihoods damaged due to the constant torrential rain. Honestly I and others on this thread don't need positivity, we don't need to pretend it's going to better and to be told like children that we should check different forecasts etc. Just leave us to moan in solidarity about how fucking shit it all is.

Rockschooldropout · 02/08/2023 19:53

WestwardHo1 · 02/08/2023 16:28

I am perfectly entitled as everyone else is to be fed up of endless (in the case of where I am 4 solid weeks ) of rain and cold .
I’m not a fan of intense heat but summer so far has been a washout especially for kids on school holidays
summer is June , July and August .. we’ve had about two weeks of summer in June , so yes I will feel how I like thank you 🙄

Rockschooldropout · 02/08/2023 19:55

@WestwardHo1 and like others I’ve had my livelihood affected due to this weather and lost a lot of money

WestwardHo1 · 02/08/2023 20:10

Read the post above. So have I. I'm losing money every day.

Don't assume.
