It's a normal British summer. Global warming is a load of shite imo.

You didn't just say something this ill informed? I'm embarrassed for you.

SirChenjins · 23/07/2023 22:36

You’re all doing it wrong. If you lie on the sofa with a cuppa under a cosy blanket and don’t actually do anything much else then you won’t ever get wet. Perspective folks <taps side of nose>

Chatillon · 23/07/2023 22:42

Yep. Buy some rum, put on a steel band CD and you are as good as in Jamaica. The rain is warm and humid.

SirChenjins · 23/07/2023 22:50

That damp sleeping bag? It’s like lying on a wet towel on your sun lounger.

Hotflushesinthesunfun · 23/07/2023 22:52

@Chatillon thank you. I’ll go and pack even more towels and extra clothes.

Hotflushesinthesunfun · 23/07/2023 22:56

All you lot reminiscing about wet camping are really not helping my mood. I’m really looking forward to my first camping in 10 yrs tomorrow. The thunder in the forecast really perked me up.😩

morelippy · 23/07/2023 22:56

@Destinedforfakeness oh please don't be embarrassed by someone else view. We're all entitled to a view.

pictoosh · 23/07/2023 23:00

I'm off camping tomorrow...two nights. I've been weather-watching like a hawk and should enjoy light cloud with sunny spells, minimum showers. Booked it this afternoon. Have since spent the afternoon packing and organising. I am really looking forward to it.

countrygirl99 · 24/07/2023 07:51

We actually had a decent day yesterday. Dry with a reasonable amount of sun if a little windy. Mid afternoon the wind dropped and we actually managed to have a meal outside and sat out reading for a while in the evening.
Back to rain and poo picking in wellies and waterproof this morning.

Whinge · 24/07/2023 08:01

We also had a few hours of blue skies yesterday. It wasn't exactly warm, but it made such a difference to be able to enjoy a walk without being battered by rain and wind. Today we're back to overcast skies and rain and i've had to put the lights on as it's just so gloomy. Sad

Rockschooldropout · 24/07/2023 09:27

We are heading off on holiday for the week today and for the first time in years I’m dreading it because I wish I’d saved the money and just put it towards days out over the “summer” as it looks like we are just paying a lot of money to be cold and wet in another part of the country . We always go away last week of July and while we might have showers or cooler days I’ve never known it to be relentless rain and dark skies .. and it’s freezing .
Currently throwing it down and 13 degrees .. I’m so utterly fed up of it

Morelippy - what's happening in greece and Italy if global warming is a load of shite ?

In Roman times vines grew outside in the UK, during the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Ice_Age Frost Fairs were held on the Thames in the 1820s. Extreme temperatures and shifts do happen.

That said there is clear evidence that we are to blame for things going awry, fast.

I agree, but I hoped they didn't mean it like that!

You'd have to be very ignorant to deny the climate crisis.

Curtainswithpompoms · 30/07/2023 22:19

I’m currently on holiday by the sea with my DH and young DD in the uk.

It’s set to be pouring down all week 😢.

I’m gutted. I spent all year saving to give DD a seaside holiday and it’s just been spent in depressing wind swept towns and extortionate attractions trying to entertain DD and stay dry.

I even bought an air con unit for our bedroom at home in preparation for a repeat of last year’s summer.

The one plus is that we are visiting my lovely dad and it’s nice to spend time with him but next year I think we will go to Italy or south west France because this is just sad.

undereaves · 31/07/2023 00:06

It's terribly bad luck, but nearly everyone else holidaying in the UK will be experiencing similar weather. I remember rainy holidays as a girl. We did make the best of it and I have some good memories.

I feel most sorry for people who can't afford a holiday at all Sad

BingoBastards · 31/07/2023 00:10

I don't actually mind it, sorry 😳

I find extremes of hot and cold difficult but rarely style my hair so don't mind a bit of drizzle. Yes it has been quite rainy recently however!

GEC44 · 31/07/2023 09:19

I quite like it, especially no horribly hot and uncomfortable nights. This time last year we had just had 40c and everywhere was parched. What a contrast we have this year.

It's the jet stream stuck to the south of the UK which is keeping us cool and Southern Europe hot.

Mid August into early September is looking much drier and warmer.

BooseysMom · 31/07/2023 13:32

It's lulled us all into a false sense of security with a few weeks of sunshine and warmth following a cold spring. I have tomatoes in the greenhouse and only about 4 green fruits. This in stark contrast to last year when we had more tomatoes than we knew what to do with!

userxx · 31/07/2023 20:38

It's unbelievably shit.

SpeckledlyHen · 22/07/2023 09:12

I have to say I’m really enjoying this summer so far. Much nicer temperatures at low 20’s than the mid 30’s we had last year. I found that unbearable.

Me too. I like it. I don’t mind rain , I hate very hot weather.

Oblomov23 · 31/07/2023 21:30

I'm getting more pissed off as the days go on. Caravanning in Dorset in the pissing rain. FFS.

YourNameGoesHere · 31/07/2023 21:33

SirVixofVixHall · 31/07/2023 20:40

You hate hot weather but don't you like warm dry weather ? It doesn't have to be 30+ degrees but surely you would be just as content with some dry slightly warm weather, it's barely even getting into the 20s here it just feels so fucking dire.

I mean even the most ardent rain lover must be getting fucking sick of it by now.

@SirVixofVixHall
@SpeckledlyHen

do you not like warm dry weather? It surely doesn’t have to be a choice between pissing rain and very hot weather
