@LuckySantangelo35 definitely not I enjoy the cooler temperatures unless abroad. Just because it raining doesn’t mean we have to stay in. We’re currently out now but I am looking forward to getting back home, having a nice hot drink and playing some board games. I just love being cosy it could never get boring.

It's pissing down and meant to be out tonght for a friends birthday. Never had a rainy day in July for her birthday before. It's a disaster. Gutted. Depressing

If she's over the age of 16 and British then I find this hard to believe. I have a July birthday and it has rained on that day a number of times over the past 40 years.

I'm so fed up on the miserable rain!
Single mum to 2 under 7 and I'm finding it really hard. I can't afford soft plays trampoline parks etc everyday and before anyone says it they hate crafts and we've done all the forts and movie days etc you can imagine!
Just wish we could go out for a nice walk and ice cream, trip to the beach, catch up at the park.
Weathers so tough when you have young children!

Sad. It's really tricky to keep young children entertained when the weather is constantly wet and miserable. Especially when money is tight. Do you have a local library? Ours have quite a few sessions on during the day to keep the small ones busy, and there's also a summer reading challenge.

floodywell · 22/07/2023 14:17

I am sick of cold and wet. It is making me depressed and snappy. Even one nice day would help.

ShakeYourFeathers · 22/07/2023 14:29

Scientific answer is something to do with the jet stream being south of us

Non- scientific answer is that the school holidays have started and it's a simple case of Sod's Law

lovescats3 · 22/07/2023 14:34

I'm not saying I want rain, my point was we now seem to be experiencing extremes more frequently globally and above 25 degrees is too hot for me , we had a few days this week with sunshine and clouds 22 degrees this week no rain and pleasantly warm t shirt , shorts and sandals weather which is how I remember rightly or wrongly growing up in England and it was lovely.i feel sorry for people on holiday and with school age children as you want to be outdoors and enjoy it, I have a child still in high school so they are a bit more able to entertain themselves indoors.

RockyRoady · 22/07/2023 14:34

I don’t think it’s been that bad…I’m in the NW & feel like we had a long dry & warm spell in June, the first half of July had been good too. It’s only the last few days it been rainy.

Whinge · 22/07/2023 14:37

It’s only the last few days it been rainy.

If it had only been a couple of days I probably wouldn't have noticed enough to comment on it, but we've had rain every day for the last 3 weeks. It's been miserable, especially as it's usually torrential rain rather than a light shower.

Sandals94 · 22/07/2023 14:40

September has been pretty decent the last few years. Here's hoping 🙏

gingerguineapig · 22/07/2023 14:41

Until today it's been fine and pleasant. I have no desire for Italian type temperatures, 21 degrees is fine for me!

Today it's raining but we need rain from time to time!

@Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse

see this is why I think a lot of people on here like this weather - it means they can stay home, cosy with a hot choc and snuggle up with their ‘Little family’
thing is people have that for months and months in the uk - do you not get bored of cosy?!

I get bored of 'cosy' - too right. I want to be outside, stretch and exercise my body, smell the air, see beautiful scenery, spot wildlife and insects, lunch with a view, get my bike out, explore, learn and enjoy.

I can have e-fucking-nuff of sitting inside with a hot cuppa. Jesus. We've got ten months a year of sitting inside with a hot fucking cuppa. If it's all you want, fine. Personally I'd go mad.

BooseysMom · 22/07/2023 14:59

Perihellopause · 22/07/2023 11:03

As I have been plunged into peri-hellopause this year with hot flushes galore. I’m secretly enjoying the shit weather as even a vague heat is sending my body into what feels like heat stroke!

Sorry😅

Oh I totally hear you! I'm also in peri meno hell and love the cooler weather!

BeginningToLookALotLike · 22/07/2023 13:56

So maybe if you changed your name to Rainyicecubesinthecold, or something like that, the weather would warm up? (clutches at straws)

It has to be worth a try, I’ll do it when I’ve dried myself and 3 dogs after thinking it had turned down to drizzle just to get laughed at by thunder on our very quick walk

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 22/07/2023 15:05

@pictoosh calm down, I was just answering a question LuckySantangelo35 asked me. I haven’t asked you about if you enjoy cosy. We all enjoy different weather and that’s fine but don’t snap at me please when I haven’t even asked you a question.

Hotflushesinthesunfun · 22/07/2023 15:06

I’m more hopeful about camping in the Lakes after a couple of NW pp saying it’s not been too bad

pictoosh · 22/07/2023 15:10

Sorry to respond to your comment in particular. There are few on here bemoaning a bit of sun and cheering the grey, chilly, wet summer we are currently experiencing on.

I feel like I'm being robbed of something essential...the light and joy of fucking day!

liveforsummer · 22/07/2023 12:53

I just googled st swithens day and apparently it was last Saturday. A quick look in my camera roll for that day does not look good! 😬

Oh god!

Strik · 22/07/2023 15:18

IfYouDontAsk · 22/07/2023 09:13

I keep thinking that in recent years summer seems to have moved to May/June and it’s pretty much always over by now.

This.

We had weeks and weeks of unbroken sunshine and warmth earlier this year.

countrygirl99 · 22/07/2023 15:21

@strik we didn't. We had weeks of grey and windy with a sunny day once a fortnight.

countrygirl99 · 22/07/2023 15:21

But even the sunny days were still bloody windy.

I totally concur @pictoosh I made hot lattes just now when they should have iced coffees!

I quite like all the seasons, we seem to be missing the summer bit and didn't really get a spring either this year.

Kids will eat ice cream in any weather mind you.
