13*c where I am

By comparison it's a positively tropical day here with highs of 16!

Still pissing it down though but I suppose we cant have it all. Grin

HedgesNotFences · 22/07/2023 13:45

I’m loving the current weather. It’s very British!

coxesorangepippin · 22/07/2023 13:45

Live on the East coast of the US and it's different here too

Lots of thunderstorms, more rain, and the temperature has been great, not above 30

MrsSkylerWhite · 22/07/2023 13:46

Pleasant here in the NW. got the gardens sorted this week and managed my long walks every day bar one without getting wet. Heavy rain due this weekend, but we need it.

Much rather this than the desperate temperatures that half of the world is suffering.

Hotflushesinthesunfun · 22/07/2023 13:46

I’m laughing at my own username now, I must have changed it in May. I’d much prefer my flushes in the sun to flushes on the sofa pealing off layers of clothes and my blanket just to put them back on a minute later!

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 22/07/2023 13:46

I’m loving the weather today. Can’t wait to get in and get cosy with candles on and a hot cuppa tea.

coxesorangepippin · 22/07/2023 13:47

(shrugs in Coeliac).

^^

I keep thinking that in recent years summer seems to have moved to May/June and it’s pretty much always over by now.

Yes - there have been a few times in recent years when there has been really hot weather in mid June - and then we've gone away the following week and it has been cooler and raining !

But last year there was also a heatwave in mid-August - which is more unusual .

@Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse

see this is why I think a lot of people on here like this weather - it means they can stay home, cosy with a hot choc and snuggle up with their ‘Little family’
thing is people have that for months and months in the uk - do you not get bored of cosy?!

happywotsit · 22/07/2023 13:52

We have a local guy called Windy Wilson on Facebook. He's reluctant to do long range weather but even he's said there is no promising weather for the rest of July even the first week in August. Completely shite weather for the full 6 weeks of the Scottish school holidays. Id put money on 18th August being glorious - the day the kids go back.

That's what I was thinking.

I’m loving the current weather. It’s very British!

When we were kids our family lived in Devon and I remember days like this DM decided were ideal to go to the beach on the basis that running around would keep us warm and we have a beach, it's a shame not to use it. So I'm more stoical than others about what when growing up was just a normal summer.

LittleBearPad · 22/07/2023 09:16

It is lovely. I think you’re exaggerating about the rain. It’s hardly never ending.

Are you in the UK?

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 22/07/2023 13:55

do you not get bored of cosy?!

Do you not get bored of sneering at people who prefer different weather to you?

So maybe if you changed your name to Rainyicecubesinthecold, or something like that, the weather would warm up? (clutches at straws)

midnightblue12 · 22/07/2023 13:56

I'm so fed up on the miserable rain!
Single mum to 2 under 7 and I'm finding it really hard. I can't afford soft plays trampoline parks etc everyday and before anyone says it they hate crafts and we've done all the forts and movie days etc you can imagine!
Just wish we could go out for a nice walk and ice cream, trip to the beach, catch up at the park.
Weathers so tough when you have young children!

Rockschooldropout · 22/07/2023 13:57

Freezing and chucking it down in the Cotswolds - last weekend local events were cancelled due to gales and driving rain , it feels like March tbh .
We are off on holiday next week to the coast but it looks like a week of indoor activities is forecast .
I’ll put money on the weather improving when the kids go back to school

Timetoflower22 · 22/07/2023 13:59

It's pissing down and meant to be out tonght for a friends birthday. Never had a rainy day in July for her birthday before. It's a disaster. Gutted. Depressing

MrsSlocombesCat · 22/07/2023 14:00

I don’t mind the rain, it’s the wind I get fed up with. Can’t have windows open front and back because the doors slam and the wooden panel fence at the back rattles all flipping day. That said, I am so thankful for not having extreme heat again. I was actually contemplating moving to Scotland last year because it’s usually cooler!

Rosebel · 22/07/2023 14:00

I don't care about the temperature but it's the rain. Toddler hates going out in the rain and freaks if he gets splashed by a puddle so that's it.
He's climbing the walls.
Same at nursery. Light rain, fine but when it's heavy we have to stay in and 25 children can get a bit wild when they can't burn off energy

@MrsDanversGlidesAgain

im not sneering
im genuinely interested in others perspectives hence me asking the question

Is it low 20's anywhere in the UK this afternoon?

18 where we are. SW

GingerCoi · 22/07/2023 14:02

Gateappreciation · 22/07/2023 09:34

For me, it’s the unpredictability. You look at the weather, rain forecast, although it doesn’t always rain. Or it’s 20 and you never know whether it’s a warm 20 or cold 20. We don’t seem to have much 23-27 degree days this year. I feel like I’m still waiting for summer to properly start.

This!

It's so annoying. Day after day of rain.

BeginningToLookALotLike · 22/07/2023 14:05

Thanks Spooky and Time. Hope it warms up a bit for us all.
