I just googled st swithens day and apparently it was last Saturday. A quick look in my camera roll for that day does not look good! 😬

I hate the rain, it’s just so on/ off. Hate having washing drying in house, but trying not to use tumble (environment)

The worst bit is it’s muggy. Come back sunny weather. Also start of 6 weeks holiday here.

Maireas · 22/07/2023 12:54

To be fair, if you hate 20°c heat, you're hardly likely to go to Spain or Turkey on holiday. Maybe they go camping in Northumberland.

Just use the tumble dryer - look at the energy output. Ours has an eco cycle, less energy, takes the dampness off.

AlviarinAesSedai · 22/07/2023 12:58

Problem is my tumble dryer is at least 10 years old. And I refuse to replace a working machine. It hasn’t got an eco setting 🙈

Tbf someone posted the other day worried about the heat in Turkey due to heatwave because her husband finds the Uk too hot in summer. Turkey was always going to be significantly hotter than here. Loads of people added to the post to say they or their husband also struggled in the heat even in Uk and listed ways to cope so they definitely do still book the holidays (bizarrely)

Maireas · 22/07/2023 13:02

That's very odd. I don't understand why you'd go there in a normal summer in that case!

That's a shame. Could you do 10mins just to get rid of the dampness?

jeffgoldblum · 22/07/2023 13:03

Absolutely chucking it down in my area of Wiltshire and has been for days now , fine for garden people say but I still have to go out and water the plants in my greenhouse!

DinosApple · 22/07/2023 13:05

I'm away for three weeks in a tent soon . Give me a heatwave or at the very least 22 degrees + and sun please!

Forecast for where I'll be is mid to high teens and rain for a week. Quite honestly that's relentlessly shit weather for East Anglia at this time of year.

tinytemper66 · 22/07/2023 13:05

Been raining in Wales since early this morning. This will be the norm all week. Very heavy and blustery.
I would prefer the heat than this.

Has anyone actually found rain appropriate summer shoes for everyday wear?!

Try these?

Why is the weather so shit?
Giggorata · 22/07/2023 13:07

I wanted to add my tuppennyworth of woe:

WET DOGS

that is all.

Nah those are no good, they'll sink in the mud.

AWholeExtraRoom · 22/07/2023 13:09

It's me. I complained so much about the heat and whined so much about being ready for October weather that someone up there clearly couldn't beat to listen to another second of it.

Sorry.

(I'm happy about it, though...!)

Jaxhog · 22/07/2023 13:10

As someone seriously avoiding skin cancer, I love the overcast cooler days. It hasn't been all rain either, as some of my plants have still died due to too much sun this year. I would prefer it to rain at night though!

SpeckledlyHen · 22/07/2023 09:12

I have to say I’m really enjoying this summer so far. Much nicer temperatures at low 20’s than the mid 30’s we had last year. I found that unbearable.

Snap!

It's lovely. Warm enough not to need a coat, but umbrella essential.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 22/07/2023 12:47

Where I live in southwest England, it only rained about three times in the whole of May and June.

I'm loving the wet grey weather.

@ChocolateCinderToffee

I'm loving the wet grey weather”

why?!

AlanJohnsonsBeemer · 22/07/2023 13:12

It is my fault, I bought a massive, tacky AF swimming pool in June. Sorry everyone!

Your not alone ! My poor kids have given up asking when they can go in now!

I've said the same about the lack of decent snow in our area over the last few years, just after we bought a shiny new sledge.

BeginningToLookALotLike · 22/07/2023 13:16

It's been raining every day here and it is 15 degrees right now. I even put my woollen jumper on yesterday evening.

I don't want weeks of 40 degree heat either though. But it seems that there isn't much in between.

At least you’ll have something to catch the rain in!

Presumably you don't eat anything made of wheat or barley

No wheat or barley? Works for me (shrugs in Coeliac).
