Did anyone get an access code today? I applied for 3 cities and for all 3 I've been put on the wait list. No codes for me 😔

Lots of tickets have already been sold this week to genuine fans. The midnights presale was well advertised last autumn.

I am in my 40s and I absolutely love Taylor. Anyone who doesn't understand why demand is so high or who didn't anticipate this is definitely not as big a fan as the people who already have tickets.

Back in 2018 when she toured with reputation (which was so incredible, I went twice) it was very uncool to like Taylor and the tour wasn't ac sell out.

She had done her time in that role of the 'biggest female performer' like Gaga, Beyonce, Britney, Celine Dion etc had done before her in 2015-2016. All over the papers etc etc. But then Kanye and Kim tried to ruin her career in 2016 by telling lies about her and very nearly succeeded. She came back with a 'revenge' album (v underrated at the time) reputation and was accused of playing the victim. Proof that she had been telling the truth about the whole thing came out during lockdown (thanks to Kris K there I think).

She has something that none of the above performers have though. She doesn't release any song that she didn't write herself. A lot of the time she co-writes with others but that doesn't mean her contribution is minimal (I'm looking at you, Damon Albarn, you misogynistic prick), far from it. Every single song has her stamp on the lyrics. She has such a love of words, many of her songs are like poetry. She also doesn't have an overly sexualised image. Yes she has some songs about sex, but nothing too raunchy (no references to big dicks or waps).

She has released 4 new albums since 2019 (including 2 absolute masterpieces in the height of lockdown). She has also released 3 of the planned rerecords of her first 6 albums (and each one has extra songs from the time that didn't make that album for whatever reason). She never sleeps apparently. On top of this she's touring with a gobsmackingly huge stadium show (costing $100,000,000) where she sings 44-45 songs every night spanning her whole career. She never ever mimes. The level of production that goes into almost every song on the tour is insane. The only ones without production are the 2 surprise songs she sings every night acoustically (one on piano and one on guitar). She said she didn't plan on repeating any of the secret songs unless she messes them up or they are from her most recent album, but she has kinda been avoiding certain songs written about her ex boyfriend Joe (who she was with for nearly 7 years - they split just before the tour started, so she has done all this when her life was in upheaval). If it rains on any tour nights, she just gets soaked but carries on. Some of the footage is insane of her playing guitar and singing when it's pissing it down on top of her. One night the rain was so bad it broke her piano for the next night. Started playing by itself.

She doesn't have a strong belty voice like Adele etc but to me that's a great thing. I lovvve her voice personally. Her official back catalogue has now got 237 songs (over just 10 albums (a few movie soundtracks etc in there too), all written by her. I would say out of those 237, I maybe 'dislike' 30 of them. The rest are great. She is probably the best living songwriter. If you think I'm talking bollocks it's because you don't know enough of her back catalogue. She has songs on her first albums that were written when she was just 14 (Our Song being one, it's very yee ha, so not everyone's taste but no one could question how good the song writing is). I have a 14 year old. He couldn't write a shopping list.

If your daughter is a swiftie, be proud. She obviously has brains.

This was very interesting to read - what did Kim and Kanye say about her that was so damaging? Not saying I don’t believe it at all - just interested!

Kanye put a fairly derogatory line about her in a song, she objected.

They then released an edited video of a call to her where they made it seem like she’d agreed. The full video showing that that’s not what they’d played her didn’t come out till ages after.

That was also years after he’d interrupted her award presentation and she’d publicly forgiven him etc.

I applied for London, Edinburgh and Liverpool.
I managed to get a code for Liverpool and nothing for anywhere else.
My only issue is I have tickets to see the Foo Fighters on the Saturday in Manchester so I can only go on the Friday, I really hope I manage to get tickets.
I wonder how they picked who got codes? I’ve had a ticketmaster account for years, I’m a fairly regular concert goer, never really been a Taylor fan but Folklore was my gateway album and it spiralled from there.

@NeverTalksToStrangers2 brilliant post and exactly why I'm a fan (along with really enjoying her songs).

It was/is a really stressful buying process but I don't see how it's unfair or specifically how it's unfair to "true fans". Myself and 3 other "true fans" I know got the midnights presale and all got tickets for our preferred venue and date.

Oblomov23 · 15/07/2023 08:49

It's actually a really poor system to sell tickets, don't you think? Glastonbury or Wimbledon is more transparent.

fancreek · 15/07/2023 09:16

Hollyshocks · 14/07/2023 22:26

What do we reckon the chances are for people with a code?
I’m tentatively hopeful

Not high I'm afraid. 14million people registered, there are 800,000 tickets in the general sale and you can buy 4 each.

So even if only 10% of people got a code. That still means there's 1.4m people trying to buy up to 5.6m seats from a pool of 800,000.

If only 5% of people got a code that's 700,000 people trying to buy up to 2.8m seats from a pool of 800,000

You get the picture. Plus there's not actually 800,000 seats available as lots are extortionate packagers and Ticketmaster holds back a butload to sell via touts Envy (see news on this)

I know this was answered already but the line in the song was "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex, I made that bitch famous".

What an absolute prick.
He also featured a naked wax(?) mannequin of her (and others) in the bed beside him for the video.

Obviously she objected. Those lyrics weren't what was discussed on the phone call and you could hear (on the full version) how uncomfortable she was about it. Kim then released snapchats of parts of the phonecall (like why were they even videoing it in the first place?!) and said "oh it's international snake day" or something so Taylor was called a snake and her timeline flooded with snake emojis. Taylorswiftisoverparty trended worldwide in Twitter. There's footage on her Miss Americana documentary of Kanye in concert (on his tilted stage*) and the crowd are chanting "fuck Taylor swift".

  • reputation is (at it's core) a love album as she disappeared from public life with her ex Joe (just after hiddleswift). But the aesthetic is black and dark and she does have some revenge songs. And the general theme (along with love) is the damage to her reputation. Look what you made me do is the most famous, which references Kanye's tilted stage. Probably my favourite performance from the rep tour is I did something bad. Look it up if you haven't seen it. Actually, watch the whole tour on Netflix. You won't be disappointed. The hiddleswift fling gets an AMAZING song called getaway car.

What do you think would be better? I can't think of a truly fair way but this has been better than other systems where touts have bought up thousands of tickets.

You can only have one code per email address and you can only buy 4 tickets with that code.
Apparently they're monitoring multiple orders from the same address or credit card and might cancel orders.

You could buy your 4 tickets in separate sales which felt fair.

Although lots of people seem to have bought 4 when they needed 2 and are probably selling the other two at an inflated price to cover their costs which is shitty.
Personally, I would make it official resale or transfer only through Ticketmaster or AXS at cost price.
Letting people sell outside of this means tickets only go to people with money to pay treble or whatever.

Twice I've used a presale code to buy gig tickets and for me, that felt fair.

It was a scrum on presale dates but nowhere near as horrendous as Glastonbury day when the last few times I haven't even been close to the ticket page.

Splitting the sales between two sellers also helped. Anecdotally, it seems people had a better experience with AXS with fewer connection issues and page crashes.

14 million people didn't register. There were 14 million registrations. Some of us registered with multiple email addresses, multiple cities. Not taking any chances. My hubby was successful for Dublin and we'll be trying for 4 more, but they are for others, I'm not going twice, sadly.

My nearly 13 year old son will be coming with me to the concert (he turns 12 shortly) and he loves her. He's unashamedly a swiftie and he's definitely not gay. I think it's great. He has plenty of male friends but he's very protective of and friendly with the girls in his class (and they are all jealous he has tickets). I took his (now 14yo) bro to reputation but he's now pretending he doesn't like her, sadly.

Glastonbury is bloody awful, you still have to register in advance and most people don't get anywhere near even getting to the ticket selection page. Lots of bands and artists do pre sales for fans, in this country this has to also include a free sign up option. It's worth people signing up for the newsletters of artists they'd like to see live as they heavily promote the free sign up for pre sale access etc- as was the case with Taylor. I signed up for foo fighters newsletter the evening before presale and got a code.

fancreek · 15/07/2023 09:36

That's very true @NeverTalksToStrangers2 though that only impacts your chances of getting a code, not your chances of getting a ticket. There's still more codes than tickets.

Not sure what your 12yo son's sexuality has to do with any of it?!

VillageFete · 15/07/2023 10:01

Guys, did I do something wrong? I didn’t get an email AT ALL. Not even for wait list.

I’ve registered seconds after she announced her tour, literally under a minute. We wanted to watch her at Anfield.

I’ve scoured my emails to double check I did register, but I’ve deleted them. But I distinctly remember getting an email telling me the dates we would hear back for the pre sale code etc.

My partner and mum both registered and are both on the wait list. As I say, I didn’t receive an email at all.

Summersizzle · 15/07/2023 10:14

I applied for 2 cities and have a code for 1 (London). Only need 2 tickets but it’s bloody miles away so will mean hotel and expensive train.

Lol, I didn't mean it like that. I just meant it's mostly young girls (of the younger fans) that want to go, plus she has a big gay following. I'm proud that he's happy to admit that he thinks she's great as most young boys wouldn't be (either that they wouldn't admit it or that they wouldn't take time to listen in the first place).

Anyone can go to see Ed Sheeran for example but it's mostly females and gay men at boy bands or female artists. I'd probably include Harry Styles in this too. Most of the men at a males at a boy band concert would be gay, there with their partners or there with their kids.

10 people registered for DD and friends to be in with a chance of a code meaning 8 people don’t want to go …. So your maths is pointless

@VillageFete have they gone from your deleted folder? Have you checked junk mail?

VillageFete · 15/07/2023 10:25

@euff Unfortunately gone from deleted folder now and there’s also nothing in junk. I’m perplexed. DD’s taking it like a champ, but I feel really shitty. There was obviously no guarantees at all, it was a slim chance, but if i’ve made a mistake and we weren’t in the race at all i’ll feel awful!

3luckystars · 15/07/2023 10:30

From what I understand, many have gotten tickets already from the album presale and so won’t need their codes now.
Although one woman has gotten tickets for 3 concerts now and is also looking for some in Dublin.
It is bringing out the worst in some people.

@VillageFete the email has come from

[email protected]

might be worth searching for that in your search bar of emails.

VillageFete · 15/07/2023 10:45

@CornishTiger Thanks so much, will try!

christmastreefarm · 15/07/2023 10:54

I registered for 3 only emails for 2, same as 2 others in my family.

@christmastreefarm Love your user name. One of my favourite songs! Aah ok, so it’s not just me then. So disappointing!

I didn’t either, and I know of other people that haven’t - no clue why

so no, it’s not you

ive got tickets so I’d not have used a code if I got one anyway, but, I should still have got an email and didn’t.

Okonuru73 · 15/07/2023 11:10

My friend has "gifted" me their code to try for the Swifty Edinburgh tickets. Really can't quite believe it!!! It's Willy Wonka / Golden Ticket level excitement.

I have the e.mail with the link, the code, and their ticketmaster account.

Will this work? Or does the link need to be "clicked" from their e.mail account for it to work? Thanks
