Did anyone get an access code today? I applied for 3 cities and for all 3 I've been put on the wait list. No codes for me 😔

Waiting list here too. Really disappointed

Itwasrare · 15/07/2023 00:41

I had to dig deep and eventually found a waitlist acknowledgment. Sigh… read on TikTok only 4% got the codes. Lucky!

molmol1977 · 15/07/2023 01:18

I am devastated. And frustrated. Absolutely no email re: Wembley dates. Got a waiting list email for Cardiff. Next door neighbour (who I told about having to register!!!!) got a code for Wembley.

Saw her live in 2015 at radio 1's big weekend and she was quite frankly disapointingly rubbish. Wondering what's happened in the last 8 years to make these so exciting?
everyone who saw her in Dublin in 2018 said she was a level above anyone they’d seen. Never heard so many ‘my favourite concert yet!’s

Loads of people got given free tickets for that Dublin gig, and Manchester, because she didn't sell out.

BillyBraggisnotmylover · 15/07/2023 02:01

Waitlisted Dublin, London, Cardiff and Liverpool. Got an access code for Edinburgh.

A practical question for anyone who might have been through the process for dates elsewhere. Edinburgh is a Friday, Saturday, Sunday and tickets go on sale 2 hours apart for each. Saturday would be my preference but don’t want to miss out by not getting in the queue on time. So guess I should get in the queue when the Friday tickets go on sale and take my chances? Kids might just have to have a sick day if we’re lucky enough to get tickets 😬

It's a bloody farce, all she's done is excluded the real fans that wanted desperately to go
Not cool Tay Tay, not cool #sourgrapes

I don't think its fair to say she excluded her real fans. My dds are big fans, follow Taylor online and buy the albums. We were planning to buy the Midnights album anyway so the pre-sale code was a bonus.

My daughter is desperate to go. Not registered for any codes or anything - how likely am I to get tickets for London? Are they going to be extortionate? Thanks. Never done this before.

If you didn't register when it was announced you have no chance in this sale. I guess you may get lucky on official resale if hats not linked to codes or secondary market which is extortionate and they have specifically said may not guarantee entry.

christmastreefarm · 15/07/2023 02:34

@BillyBraggisnotmylover

I think the Sunday Edinburgh presale sold 'relatively' slowly so could risk Saturday first if u could do Sunday.

BillyBraggisnotmylover · 15/07/2023 02:40

Thanks @christmastreefarm - Friday or Sunday would both mean time off school (we’re faaaar from Edinburgh, down in England) so probably best off starting with Friday and see how we go. No point risking getting nothing!

I’m just saying I think all customers should have been treated the same, and given the same opportunities.

I spent 7:30 hours online in a queue in the USA to get tickets and was very lucky to get anything. Many people ended up with nothing.
One code my family had was invalid on the day as were lots of other people's.

They really seem to be trying to avoid the same issues in the UK. The scalpers bought lots of USA tickets even with a verified fans/waitlist system in place. Tickets I bought for 200 dollars I could have sold for 800 dollars.

It is just a very popular event with a lot of demand. Having a free for all will just crash your systems and only the scalpers benefit.

NetNew · 15/07/2023 03:40

LovePoppy · 14/07/2023 23:53

How would you have suggested it be done then?

I wonder why they don’t make them non-transferable unless they’re sold via a pre-approved system that resells at original price. That would remove the reseller bots / scalpers and would lower demand enough to put off the people that want them just for the thrill of the chase / kudos etc.

But perhaps they don’t want to lower the perceived means that much.

NetNew · 15/07/2023 03:40

Because ticketmaster are in on it!

That investigation also found that Ticketmaster often holds back the vast majority of tickets from the general public for the resale market, where they are mostly bought by professional ticket brokers with bots.

NeverTalksToStrangers2 · 15/07/2023 06:45

Lots of tickets have already been sold this week to genuine fans. The midnights presale was well advertised last autumn.

I am in my 40s and I absolutely love Taylor. Anyone who doesn't understand why demand is so high or who didn't anticipate this is definitely not as big a fan as the people who already have tickets.

Back in 2018 when she toured with reputation (which was so incredible, I went twice) it was very uncool to like Taylor and the tour wasn't ac sell out.

She had done her time in that role of the 'biggest female performer' like Gaga, Beyonce, Britney, Celine Dion etc had done before her in 2015-2016. All over the papers etc etc. But then Kanye and Kim tried to ruin her career in 2016 by telling lies about her and very nearly succeeded. She came back with a 'revenge' album (v underrated at the time) reputation and was accused of playing the victim. Proof that she had been telling the truth about the whole thing came out during lockdown (thanks to Kris K there I think).

She has something that none of the above performers have though. She doesn't release any song that she didn't write herself. A lot of the time she co-writes with others but that doesn't mean her contribution is minimal (I'm looking at you, Damon Albarn, you misogynistic prick), far from it. Every single song has her stamp on the lyrics. She has such a love of words, many of her songs are like poetry. She also doesn't have an overly sexualised image. Yes she has some songs about sex, but nothing too raunchy (no references to big dicks or waps).

She has released 4 new albums since 2019 (including 2 absolute masterpieces in the height of lockdown). She has also released 3 of the planned rerecords of her first 6 albums (and each one has extra songs from the time that didn't make that album for whatever reason). She never sleeps apparently. On top of this she's touring with a gobsmackingly huge stadium show (costing $100,000,000) where she sings 44-45 songs every night spanning her whole career. She never ever mimes. The level of production that goes into almost every song on the tour is insane. The only ones without production are the 2 surprise songs she sings every night acoustically (one on piano and one on guitar). She said she didn't plan on repeating any of the secret songs unless she messes them up or they are from her most recent album, but she has kinda been avoiding certain songs written about her ex boyfriend Joe (who she was with for nearly 7 years - they split just before the tour started, so she has done all this when her life was in upheaval). If it rains on any tour nights, she just gets soaked but carries on. Some of the footage is insane of her playing guitar and singing when it's pissing it down on top of her. One night the rain was so bad it broke her piano for the next night. Started playing by itself.

She doesn't have a strong belty voice like Adele etc but to me that's a great thing. I lovvve her voice personally. Her official back catalogue has now got 237 songs (over just 10 albums (a few movie soundtracks etc in there too), all written by her. I would say out of those 237, I maybe 'dislike' 30 of them. The rest are great. She is probably the best living songwriter. If you think I'm talking bollocks it's because you don't know enough of her back catalogue. She has songs on her first albums that were written when she was just 14 (Our Song being one, it's very yee ha, so not everyone's taste but no one could question how good the song writing is). I have a 14 year old. He couldn't write a shopping list.

If your daughter is a swiftie, be proud. She obviously has brains.

Rockbird · 15/07/2023 07:34

@NeverTalksToStrangers2 Terrific post. I'm a newish Swiftie through my 15yo, punk and new wave is usually my thing but I make an exception for Taylor. She's phenomenal.

I have no doubt there's some shady practices, but tonnes of people did get tickets in the presale. For webley I had 40k in front of me and still got okay seats when it was my turn. Anecdotally speaking to others online and in real life that had a midnights code all got tickets, most got 4.

This is the biggest driver, but artists charging more isn't a decent way forward:

So if someone is willing to spend over $2,000 including fees for an Adele ticket” – the going price for one to her Vegas residency – “that is what it’s worth, as gross as that sounds. But if Adele doesn’t want to charge that, there is going to be a gap between the face value of the ticket and what someone can get for it, and a whole industry is going to scramble in to exploit it.

Jigslaw · 15/07/2023 07:47

If you're an actual reseller using a recommended resale platform you can only charge 10% above face value and fees.

anon2022anon · 15/07/2023 07:50

Ticketmaster have messed up (I didn't receive any emails yesterday, despite being registered and receiving confirmation emails), but I do think the way they are doing it is fairer. Whether I receive a code or not. It's giving them a chance to check whether accounts are likely to be bots before selling, and reducing the demand on each sale day from potentially a million plus to the couple of hundred k they have given the codes too, as well as staggering them. The only thing I don't think is fair, given its exam time, is telling people what day concert they can apply for if they have a code, but I think that's only for Wembley.

NashvilleQueen · 15/07/2023 07:55

@NeverTalksToStrangers2 I absolutely love your post! Agree 100%.

Just on Albarn I thought her tweet when she released Speak Now (TV ) the other week was aimed at his ridiculous bullshit.

CuriousLadyBird · 15/07/2023 07:57

Wait listed but my friend got us tickets on her presale code anyway.

Freshair1 · 15/07/2023 07:59

I'll be honest and say while she doesn't mime... There is obviously a backing track for the entire concert. There are fab videos where she's been interacting and her song has continued without her input. Or her 'ghost piano' which plays without input. Yes she's talented but it's naive to presume she is singing 44 songs live.

And I say that having secured standing seats in Edinburgh. I love her music, folklore is a masterpiece.

Keeeeetones · 15/07/2023 08:07

We’re waitlisted my asd dd is desperate to go

Netaporter · 15/07/2023 08:19

i’d say that like Harry Styles, there will be tickets available closer to the date. It is in the middle of exam season here so likely someone’s Mum will realise they have a Geography GCSE or A Level the next day and so might sell the tickets. I say this as a Mum who ended up have to buy Harry S tickets for every bloody date until they stopped clashing with exams 😂 (I sold at FV on ticketmaster).

Top tips from me:

  1. avoid any kind of’Taylor Swift buy/sell tickets’ FB group. They are full of scammers.
  2. annoyingly I had excellent H styles tickets (weekend night, seated, lower tier) and then my DD’s GF died and the funeral was the same day. Sold at FV because Ticketmaster didn’t let you have any other option plus I’m not an arsehole. However I was pissed off at having to pay £150 more per ticket for the same section (one row forward)for a weekday night because I was purchasing from some sort of ‘ticketmaster/Harry Styles affiliated party’ I.e complimentary/perk tickets gained via connections/work which were then being sold over their FV. I mention this because it is likely that these sort of tickets will be also available nearer the time for Taylor Swift. Watch out on AXS or Ticketmaster.
  3. The greatest premium for tickets is now whilst the frenzy is on and tickets are in the news so you’ll have bragging rights if you get them. Hold your nerve and you might find something closer to FV nearer the time.

I’m on the waiting list for Taylor, no code (and now no Xmas present for DD 😂) Hood luck to everyone!

MelonsOnSaleAgain · 15/07/2023 08:21

I am just waitlisted. I’ll keep my eyes peeled once the furore dies down. It’s worked as a strategy before. I’m that lucky between when they first go on and sale and before they start hyping the concerts again.
