BBC Presenter and yet more allegations

1000 replies

friendlycat · 11/07/2023 23:28

It would appear that the front page of tomorrow’s The Sun has further allegations about messages with a new 17 year old. Creepy hearts etc

Scrolling through Sky news and seeing front pages of the papers. This appears bottom right on The Sun front page.

My sympathy is with his family, his children (however old they are) have probably just had their lives turned upside down.

Also I don't think some will be happy until he kills himself.

But demonstrably not with the young people he has exploited eh?

No one wants him dead, what ridiculous hyperbole 🙄 Not reading the news will do.

I have an ex friend who is an escort at uni, she’s tried to kill herself four times. God knows what those men did to her. Mentally and physically.

Legally, they did nothing wrong though, so that’s all right.

Appalling - I'm fucking embarrassed for you.

bellac11 · 12/07/2023 19:08

By placing them into a position where they will be exploited

Because whatever happens to Edwards, this wont be over for the young person whose details will soon become know, you can be sure of that

They did not make a complaint or want any of this.

You really don’t know what they want. They have spoken up for a reason.

Translucentwaters · 12/07/2023 19:10

Lacucuracha · 12/07/2023 19:02

Agree. It’s never simply that he is mortified that that he has been caught with his arse out to a young person on camera.

Quite.

I have considered the statement carefully and I find it to be silencing.

Its only intention is to make us feel sympathy and compassion for Edwards and his plight. But that doesn’t change the facts, or what he has done.

If you don’t want your privileged life blown apart and the consequences of that - stay away from vulnerable teenage children.

Right now its the word of a tabloid paper who have been known to lie. No one knows his victims names but his children's are all over the Internet.

QueefQueen80s · 12/07/2023 19:11

@Lacucuracha Yep still shocked at the apologists for him here.. maybe we have a few older men with similar abhorrent behaviour posting.

Nightlystroll · 12/07/2023 19:12

Freysimo · 12/07/2023 18:48

Exactly, it's insulting to people with real mental health problems who wouldn't dream of behaving as he has.

Having had very bad mental health problems and adopting behaviours I wouldn't have dreamed of in the past, some of which I still suffer from many years on, I wouldn't be judge other people. Whether I agree with their actions or not, it's my experience that poor mental health can drive you to behave in ways you'd never have before contemplated.

His children’s names have always been on the internet. Any attention they are getting are due to him.

Who are you talking about

The young person whose parents made this public knowledge said they didnt want any of this, told the Sun in fact before the story ran

There’s definitely a PR effort, MN will be a key demographic for them.

EmmaEmerald · 12/07/2023 19:14

Just catching up
No criminal investigation to pursue?

All this when he hasn't done anything illegal? All these people dragged into suffering as well?

Women who knows? Most mothers would be pretty damn horrified if this happened to their child, and most fathers too.

ilovebrie8 · 12/07/2023 19:16

I feel for his wife and kids this must have been horrific. I also feel for the victim too, there are no winners here and they’ve since come out and said the reports are “rubbish”. It’s a mess and everyone is suffering. Don’t think it was wise to go to the Sun by the parents that the last thing I’d think to do and they’ve a history of lies that paper.

I think the statement is cleverer than that.

We know there was to be no criminal charge and that the police were now releasing the BBC to continue its own investigation.

We can see that there was no way, really, to have Huw back doing the same job, and yet it would be very difficult to find a way of sacking him. So … me time recovering and a medical retirement?

MmaRra · 12/07/2023 19:20

CherryCokeFanatic · 12/07/2023 19:07

Is that you using the Royal 'we', Prince Andrew?

Translucentwaters · 12/07/2023 19:20

I am not being manipulated to feel any sympathy for a man that has exploited vulnerable children.

As a woman, I have absolutely no confidence whatsoever in the police to adequately investigate or charge Edwards for this and other matters .

The BBC have no doubt seen a possible exit out of this catastrophe if enough of the public feel sorry for ‘poor’ Edwards.

I am not buying any of it.

HokusaiWave · 12/07/2023 19:20

*Some time recovering, sorry.

Sunnydays41 · 12/07/2023 19:21

SerafinasGoose · 12/07/2023 18:30

A great many people have documented histories of depression and don't engage in alleged reprehensible conduct involving much younger people.

Check out any abuse thread on this very site and I can guarantee an objection of 'is he depressed?' will appear on the first few pages.

It isn't relevant. Depression doesn't make someone do these things.

Agree.

Fair enough, the Met found that there was "no information to indicate that a criminal offence has taken place" (and I think the key thing is "no information: don't forget that an absence of evidence is not evidence of an absence), but pursuing vulnerable men young enough to be your grandchildren is still grim, predatory behaviour that should be called out. Particularly when the person is of Huw's standing in society.

lemmein · 12/07/2023 19:22

Those who support him and think the MET are suddenly competent at handling sexual allegations....do you believe this young persons family have made the whole thing up? They have targeted Huw-fucking-Edwards for no reason at all? There was no £35k and indecent photos of a 17 year old? They went to the police and the bbc for nothing?

Are we so really so entrenched in the belief that men should be protected at all costs from the consequences of their behaviour?

Honestly appalled at some of the posts, on a parenting website, deplorable. No wonder victims get zero fucking justice in this country.
