BBC Presenter and yet more allegations

1000 replies

friendlycat · 11/07/2023 23:28

It would appear that the front page of tomorrow’s The Sun has further allegations about messages with a new 17 year old. Creepy hearts etc

Scrolling through Sky news and seeing front pages of the papers. This appears bottom right on The Sun front page.

He wasn’t too mentally ill to send threatening messages to a young person 🙄

Rich men have been hiding in hospitals when the shit hits the fans for centuries.

That’s pretty compelling evidence of mental illness.

I hope Huw Edwards recovers well from his episode of depression. I applaud his wife for making her strong and supportive statement. All of you calling for his head on a spike... please stop. Think of his wife, his children and wider family. I don't approve of his alleged extra marital activities but they're none of my business.

Totally with you on this derxa.

Yettisrus · 12/07/2023 18:55

Interesting how all the guests on the news are actually backing Huw, one on Sky just told Mark Austin (who knows Huw personally and has talked to him about his mental health struggles) to stop before they have blood on their hands. All the newsreaders seems to be very concerned about him. Something tells me his mental health issues have been very serious.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 12/07/2023 18:56

I hope it’s finally the end of The Sun. However I doubt it.

Southeastdweller · 12/07/2023 18:51

So why are the police not taking any action?

Because ultimately you'll struggle to get a conviction even if he has done something wrong in a situation where the alleged victim is an adult and now says there is no problem. Cos of how consent and capacity works.

Some marriages - and I am not saying it’s the case here, who knows - are marriages of platonic friendship and convenience as both parties are gay but unwilling to come out. I know a couple in this arrangement, they’re quite happy with their set up. Not my business anyway.

Intend to agree. Look at Rolf Harris, Philip Schofield, now Huw. All the wives stay. Money and influence plays a huge part.

If I were leading a double life, there is a good chance my MH would be shot to pieces as well. It’s a shame no one has acknowledged the vulnerability of the victims in this, and the desperate state they must be in.

True I don’t think it’s that much of a leap to see his life would have an impact on MH

Lacucuracha · 12/07/2023 18:58

Translucentwaters · 12/07/2023 18:43

I wonder how the mental health of the alleged victims is faring? They don’t have the cushion of wealth, fame, specialist care, committed wives to defend them.

So true. As always, the sympathy amongst the MN cohort is for the rich man with influence.

I agree. Well said. There are no winners here. It's all a mess. I hope it will be the end of The Sun. The trial by media and social media has been shocking.

the80sweregreat · 12/07/2023 18:58

His wife is the brave one here.
I would be devastated if it were my dh
All played out on social media too, most of which is pretty damming.
The sun must be delighted it didn't backfire for them. They are probably hoping for more to come out too.

It’s none of your business but here you are posting 🙄

Do as I say, not as I do.

Translucentwaters · 12/07/2023 19:00

It looks like the Edwards are being very well advised if the reaction on here is anything to
go by. Suddenly we are all supposed to be worried about Huw. If he is in a shit state quite frankly he only has himself to blame. Let this be a lesson to other privileged men.

So why are the police not taking any action?

What is it you think they could have taken action on? We already know there was no evidence of any criminal activity.

Absolutely agree with this.

Agree. It’s never simply that he is mortified that that he has been caught with his arse out to a young person on camera.

PomRuns · 12/07/2023 19:02

Agree with Derxa that was meant to say.

The same names on MN were out in force for Philip Schofield. They’re like clockwork.

Tend to agree. The whole approach smacks of expert crisis management, a team carefully crafting a narrative & version of events to elicit sympathy & minimise responsibility.

I don't doubt he is mentally unwell, or receiving in-patient care. Trial by media is also inappropriate.

However, clearly stating that the behaviour is reprehensible, unacceptable and below what should be expected from someone in authority & influence, is completely appropriate & right to do.

I feel very sorry for the individuals whose names have been blithely bandied about on social media, forcing them into positions of public denial.

My sympathy is with his family, his children (however old they are) have probably just had their lives turned upside down.

Also I don't think some will be happy until he kills himself.

CherryCokeFanatic · 12/07/2023 19:07

we support you Huw! ❤️

WrongWayApricot · 12/07/2023 19:08

I very much disagree with his choices personally. But if he hasn't done anything illegal then he should be allowed to deal with his personal relationships however he chooses to. He should not have been forced to expose all of this to the entire public, just like every other cheat.

I also think he should be allowed to continue his work, I know people will say technically he can. But we all know he's never going to be allowed to move on. Like Angus Deayton, he's never going to be allowed by the tabloids and society to just get on with what he's good at. Huw read the news, that's what he should be judged on. Not who he legally showed his bum to, legally bought porn from or argued with on WhatsApp.

Unless we treat all cheaters and johns like this then he shouldn't be treated like this.

The parents were trying to protect their child from being exploited.

By placing them into a position where they will be exploited

Because whatever happens to Edwards, this wont be over for the young person whose details will soon become know, you can be sure of that

They did not make a complaint or want any of this.
