BBC Presenter and yet more allegations

1000 replies

friendlycat · 11/07/2023 23:28

It would appear that the front page of tomorrow’s The Sun has further allegations about messages with a new 17 year old. Creepy hearts etc

Scrolling through Sky news and seeing front pages of the papers. This appears bottom right on The Sun front page.

Whoever it is, and regardless of whether anything was illegal or not, why on earth would a well known presenter reveal their name to anyone involved in such a sleazy enterprise, and then swear them to secrecy? What could possibly go wrong? It’s almost as if they get off on some sort of ‘do you know who I am?’ power trip. So dumb. Serve them right if their reputation ends up in the gutter.

The Sun want to keep this alive, because of the allegations against George Osborne, which were much much more serious, concerning him having sex with a 16-year-old girl who wasn't able to give consent. No, to George Osborne's complete relief, everyone is just talking about the presenter instead.

Then the police will be investigating. And we will hear about it when they prosecute.

Gothambutnotahamster · 12/07/2023 00:14

I've not heard of the George Osbourne story - where has that been reported or how is that known about?

This email was sent to attendees at Osborne's wedding. No idea who wrote it, or if any of the claims are accurate.

This is insane. Why do these public figures do this, knowing full well its likely to come out and destroy their career and reputation. (If its actually true)

Because people don't always act logically and because they think they won't get caught.

LordSalem · 12/07/2023 00:28

The Sun. Wouldn't even buy it for cat litter tray lining. They're all a bunch of cunts one way or another, they get off on their "power"
Cba with the witch hunt, the BBC aren't known for the stellar integrity of their prime staff members anyway. Even the big and mighty can fall. Hope it's a very hard fall this time, not mopped up and disappeared. We'll see.

Does anyone remember when the leading suspect for Presenter X was last on his usual programme?

CallieQ · 12/07/2023 00:35

Apparently 5th July....

Blossomtoes · 12/07/2023 00:38

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 11/07/2023 23:39

The sun will be seeking out and paying £££ to keep their crap story alive.

So fucking what he sent some emojis to someone. The first person doesn't want to proceed with anything, the second has said the presenter sent mean messages when he had hinted he would name the presenter online, the Third met up with him, the 4th received some emojis.

Fuck me. This is such a load of nonsense

Exactly this. And more will keep crawling out of the woodwork. It’s becoming farcical.

Sweetashunni · 11/07/2023 23:50

I’m really tired of these witch hunts. It’s not even about ‘justice’ for whatever sleaze they’ve done, its about the media playing out a long whodunnit so the public can foam at the mouth and enjoy the chase, smearing a few innocent individuals along the way as they play armchair detective. Just tacky entertainment dressed up as ‘truth seeking’

Try telling that to the victims and their families

Underminer · 12/07/2023 00:46

Eclipse the Sun by putting another newspaper on top of the stack of Sun papers every time
you shop. They are a vile rag, with sleazy page 3 salivating over teenage girls.

DaisyQuakeJohnson · 12/07/2023 00:47

This isn't about The Sun. The BBC are also reporting on this, as is Sky and all major media.

Most of which have also covered the GO story and Boris' WhatsApp. There's more than one story covered at a time and an older man abusing his position and fame to have inappropriate relationships with young people and allegedly solicit illegal underage photos, plus sending 'threatening and abusive messages' to quote the BBC is a major news story.

All those who want to pretend it's fine, can join the other apoligists on Reddit where they consider an older, wealthier man's sex drive more important than anything else in the world - like the law, marriage vows, young people's wellbeing, etc.

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · 12/07/2023 00:55

Wouldn't it be great if this much time and money was spent investigating child abuse cases.

It would. If only so much effort had gone into investigating the Rotherham gangs.

Two things can be true at once

  1. Another older wealthy influential public figure who is allegedly choosing to use that influence and wealth to satisfy whatever particular itch they are trying to scratch. Seedy and untrustworthy? Sure. Harmful? Possibly. Illegal? Looking less and less likely to be true.
  1. The Sun newspaper (as part of News UK) choosing to cast a hopeful fishing line, into the pond of wealthy older public figures by publishing a half-researched incomplete story; with many moving parts as a way of a) damaging the reputation of its rival and b) deflecting the behaviour of employees of the same media organisation ... i.e. Boris Johnson

The BBC is a mess but as a news organisation that have far superior standards to that of the News Corp (Rupert Murdochs group that owns News UK).

And this is probably what people were saying when the Jimmy Saville story started. And what if the allegations in the Sun are true? Let the investigation be carried out, as I’m sure the police are doing behind the scenes. What do you want to happen here? All of it brushed under the carpet, without even an attempt to look into any of this stuff? Don’t let your hatred of the media cloud your judgement on what you should see needs to be done to clear all this up.

gemstoneju · 12/07/2023 01:07

Whoever it is, if the screenshot is genuine, had a very short forename...

Does the person in question have severe depression? Possibly even bipolar depression? Because it does result in risktaking behaviours, impulsive decisions with little thought for the consequences. Was wondering if he was reluctant to go public with that info as BPD is seen as a mental health disorder.

MeinKraft · 12/07/2023 01:07

Wow he sent someone emojis. What'll it be tomorrow, he sat next to someone and looked at them 'in a creepy way' Hmm

They need to stop issuing updates on every person that calls in with a non event and leave the man to sort his shit out with his family and job.

Whether or not it's actually true.

Allmyghosts · 12/07/2023 01:47

Such a storm in a teacup, who the actual fuck cares.

ItsMyAeroplane · 12/07/2023 01:56

I don’t care who it is, but it’s not fucking ok to groom/approach/ pay young people to take and send explicit photos to another person.

I don’t care if it’s not illegal, it is immoral.

I don’t care if he’s famous, or not. MEN need to be called out on their shit and the world needs to know who they really are.

The more men publicly humiliated, and losing their jobs over exploiting young people, the better. Hopefully others will check themselves.

On the other hand you have to wonder why The Sun even want to keep the ridiculous story alive and I’m afraid certain people on threads such as this are to blame, salivating over the ongoing speculation about who it might be and seemingly unable to just wait for the outcome of the proper investigation.

Comment on Twitter:

”As you try to make sense of the current media obsession do not forget that most of the papers covering it want to destroy the BBC because they either see it as a media rival or as an obstacle to the Foxisation of TV news”.
