BBC Presenter and yet more allegations

1000 replies

friendlycat · 11/07/2023 23:28

It would appear that the front page of tomorrow’s The Sun has further allegations about messages with a new 17 year old. Creepy hearts etc

Scrolling through Sky news and seeing front pages of the papers. This appears bottom right on The Sun front page.

Then the police will be investigating. And we will hear about it when they prosecute.

So do we not have to prove guilt in this country? Innocent until proven guilty. You have already decided his guilt knowing nothing. Please lots hope you never do jury service.

Whoever it is, if the screenshot is genuine, had a very short forename...

Does the person in question have severe depression? Possibly even bipolar depression? Because it does result in risktaking behaviours, impulsive decisions with little thought for the consequences. Was wondering if he was reluctant to go public with that info as BPD is seen as a mental health disorder.

The alleged person has spoken openly about suffering severe depression over the last 20 years I assumed clinical depression, not bipolar.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 12/07/2023 02:29

the second has said the presenter sent mean messages when he had hinted he would name the presenter online

If I connected with someone on a dating app and they pestered me after I decided not to meet up, I'd just block them so they couldn't bother me. I wouldn't threaten to out them. It seems odd to me.

If he's committed an illegal act then action should be taken, no question. Meanwhile one allegation in the e mail about GO is incredibly serious and being totally ignored.

ColdHandsHotHead · 12/07/2023 03:06

CallieQ · 12/07/2023 00:38

Try telling that to the victims and their families

At the moment there are only allegations. So it’s ‘alleged’ victims. And you’re ignoring what the PP said.

RestingMurderousFace · 12/07/2023 03:14

Nonces gonna nonce.

TheDinnerWitch · 12/07/2023 03:22

I love Vic Derbyshire's video of her 'slip up' earlier today, I really believe it was intentional and she was trying to give us the heads up on "Who" the accused is...

LordSalem · 12/07/2023 03:32

@Livelovebehappy you seem to have taken my post as entirely opposite from what I've written. Read it again. Hard fall, not mopped up etc - as in, gets properly dealt with... my point being clearly opposite to the Jimmy Saville point you used...

This isn't about The Sun. The BBC are also reporting on this, as is Sky and all major media.

Most of which have also covered the GO story and Boris' WhatsApp. There's more than one story covered at a time and an older man abusing his position and fame to have inappropriate relationships with young people and allegedly solicit illegal underage photos, plus sending 'threatening and abusive messages' to quote the BBC is a major news story.

All those who want to pretend it's fine, can join the other apoligists on Reddit where they consider an older, wealthier man's sex drive more important than anything else in the world - like the law, marriage vows, young people's wellbeing, etc.

Well said.

lljkk · 12/07/2023 05:59

I wonder if presenter's wife will sue for damages, lost income, all the money Presenter spent on these young people. <muse>

I was nervous wreck having to speak on radio once. I can't imagine all this thrill seeking. People made of other stuff.

The Sun want to keep this alive, because of the allegations against George Osborne, which were much much more serious, concerning him having sex with a 16-year-old girl who wasn't able to give consent. No, to George Osborne's complete relief, everyone is just talking about the presenter instead.

And Prince Andrew lest we forget that is protected by big brother ....

CrocodileOenophile · 12/07/2023 06:20

I sort of believed the story until they said one of the people didnt want to meet up with him (is suggesting a meet up a bloody offense) and then they threatened him to make it public (which is insane, threated someone to let everyone know they are o na dating app?) and the presenter, quite rightfully, got angry. I would too.
Loads of BS.

Yikesno · 12/07/2023 06:23

This thread is absolutely amazing - it beggars belief that there could be so many legitimate mumsnet users so vehemently on the side of the unnamed presenter. Something very strange is going on here - I suspect people are being paid to defend him, denigrate the Sun and obfuscate the story in online forums like this one.

Plbrookes · 12/07/2023 06:25

HerMammy · 11/07/2023 23:46

The Sun, how hypocritical, wasn't in the too distant past they had Sam
Fox topless on her 16th birthday or commenting on Charlotte Church being a 'big girl' at 15.

Sam Fox was 16 in 1982. 41 years ago. Would you be a hypocrite for criticising something you did 41 years ago?

You think someone is paying people to post defences in the small hours of the night?

That doesn't make any sense, if someone wanted to do that they could do it themself for free. How many people do you think are reading this thread exactly?

Yes, because the Sun decides what the Guardian puts on its front page 🙄

Strange how consistent the comments are on social media though. 'The Sun is hypocritical, Sam Fox' and 'it's all to distract attention from George Osborne". Almost like some people are using a lines-to-take document. Or maybe they're just parroting things they've seen others write.

I agree about the Sam Fox comments, that is a bit odd, I just assume the people who are posting them are a bit lacking in the intelligence department

The sun will be seeking out and paying £££ to keep their crap story alive.

So fucking what he sent some emojis to someone. The first person doesn't want to proceed with anything, the second has said the presenter sent mean messages when he had hinted he would name the presenter online, the Third met up with him, the 4th received some emojis.

Fuck me. This is such a load of nonsense

Absolutely!

Murdoch is out to destroy the BBC. We don’t realise it is the best thing about the U.K. (along with the NHS as it used to be). It is respected and envied around the world. One of the very few British things that still are.

Abuse is abhorrent and every single institution has to be alert to it and deal with it swiftly and fully. Sadly most institutions do have an issue with abuse because it’s all about power (almost always involves men).

Does anyone really think this is a problem unique to BBC?

This.
And also Boris Johnson missed the deadline on Monday to hand over his WhatsApp messages...

WhyWhyWhyMum · 12/07/2023 00:11

Or, could the publication date of this story to be detract from another Tory cronie as well as GO??

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/boris-johnson-covid-inquiry-whatsapps-b2372638.html

100% this.

Meadowfly · 12/07/2023 06:40

I’m not vehemently on the presenters side. I just don’t think these accusations are THAT bad. It’s nothing like jimmy saville. It’s just seedy. And the bbc have to keep talking about it or they’ll be accused of a cover up or not taking it seriously. And of course they can’t release his name unless he agrees to it. The bbc has its faults but it is a wonderful organisation (those who have spent time living abroad will know this) and these actions of one employee are a ridiculous reason to criticise it.

StefanosHill · 12/07/2023 06:42

Prestat · 12/07/2023 02:07

Comment on Twitter:

”As you try to make sense of the current media obsession do not forget that most of the papers covering it want to destroy the BBC because they either see it as a media rival or as an obstacle to the Foxisation of TV news”.

And yet the BBC led on the second person coming forward. People want to believe all this stuff

I agree with @DaisyQuakeJohnson

Willmafrockfit · 12/07/2023 06:44

i agree @Meadowfly

rockingbird · 12/07/2023 06:45

So first we have a crack head making allegations.. now we have three more 🙄 I'm not sure I believe this..
