BBC Presenter and yet more allegations

1000 replies

friendlycat · 11/07/2023 23:28

It would appear that the front page of tomorrow’s The Sun has further allegations about messages with a new 17 year old. Creepy hearts etc

Scrolling through Sky news and seeing front pages of the papers. This appears bottom right on The Sun front page.

Sophie sounds so sad
It must be hard for them all tbh

DrBlackbird · 12/07/2023 18:02

Just why would an intelligent person do this? He must have known he’d be found out. Could have gone on Only Fans anonymously.

Zonder · 12/07/2023 18:03

Named by his wife, in hospital receiving medical care, serious mental health. Sounds like a suicide attempt. So gutting all round. Awful for everyone involved.

the80sweregreat · 12/07/2023 18:04

Sounds as if his mental health is failing
He hasn't resigned apparently, they had to just change that news.
You would think that he would though
No way back now

DrBlackbird · 12/07/2023 18:04

All coming out now… even other BBC staff talking about feeling uncomfortable.

A lot of men get off on risk. Look at how heavily weighted risky sports and activities are for men.

RestingMurderousFace · 12/07/2023 18:04

His poor wife, my god.

Zippedydodah · 12/07/2023 18:04

Crikey, very sad.
Poor wife, poor victims.

So, according to some, “no crime has been committed”.

So, everyone who thinks this is ok with their vulnerable 17 year olds being paid to exploit their bodies for an old guys sexual pleasure.

This is also a good example of the knock on effects of narcissistic sleaze. The money has gone on to fuel a drug habit, and that chain.

He won’t go to jail, but he deserves to be hounded and lose everything.

I’m not a pearl clutcher, just trying to keep pervert men away from my children, something that takes up a lot of my time.

Good men need to step forward and put their foot on the throats of these men targeting our young and vulnerable.

You know nothing, only what the tabloids have published & not published proof. you believe them? The police are involved let them investigate. You don’t know he made a 17yr old exploit their bodies. Imagine it was your brother or Dad or husband that was being accused….wait for the truth. Stop sentencing him until he is found guilty. If he is then I am sure he will be punished

SabrinaThwaite · 12/07/2023 18:05

Police say no police action at this time.

the80sweregreat · 12/07/2023 18:05

It Does sound as if he has tried to do something to himself. Reading between the lines.
His poor wife and children
I feel for them

That's what I thought. Terrible.

The judgement was based on lies, he was not then allowed to appeal. Wonder dirt what the Sun had on the judge. There was a petition set up by a barrister the trial was fundamentally unfair as it was proven that she lied in the US trial. The Sun printed her lies.

'The judgment was based on lies' is quite the outlandish statement, unless you sat through the entire trial and are competent, at a very senior level, to make similar judgments to those the Judge came to, as based on the evidence heard.

I'm not. I'm merely citing that judgment. And the judgment upheld by the British court was that The Sun's content was substantially true.

An attempt WAS made to make them accountable for their content. It failed.

All so unnecessary

At the end of the day, people are often unfaithful or have relationships/one night stands, men and women.

Is it really anyones business?

Efacsen · 12/07/2023 18:06

Wife says he's receiving in-patient care for MH difficulties

Catpuss66 · 12/07/2023 18:06

Hope Jeremy Vine feels better now. Very disappointed in him this morning.

When they do it with minors. Yes

So many men who seek out the higher offices (whatever industry) turn out to be flawed to a Shakespearean level. Circumstances exacerbating character leading to hubris.

the80sweregreat · 12/07/2023 18:08

Tbf for Jeremy vine, he was vilified and places like Twitter are vile.
No wonder he is / was angry.
I think most people would be

Nope. Maybe even the wife knew was happy with it. Nobody but them know
and yes reading between lines reads about mental crisis , which is sad, ad long as it was legal nobody should care about anyone’s sex life

Whatsgoinonnnn · 12/07/2023 18:08

He's been named!

vera99 · 12/07/2023 18:09

In her statement, Vicky Flind said her husband Huw Edwards was 'suffering from serious mental health issues' and is now 'receiving in-patient hospital care where he will stay for the foreseeable future' as she asked for privacy for her family.

She said: 'In light of the recent reporting regarding the 'BBC Presenter' I am making this statement on behalf of my husband Huw Edwards, after what have been five extremely difficult days for our family. I am doing this primarily out of concern for his mental well-being and to protect our children.

'In the circumstances and given Huw's condition I would like to ask that the privacy of my family and everyone else caught up in these upsetting events is respected. I know that Huw is deeply sorry that so many colleagues have been impacted by the recent media speculation. We hope this statement will bring that to an end.'

the80sweregreat · 12/07/2023 18:09

Yes, named minutes ago on the news

Blossomtoes · 12/07/2023 18:09

the80sweregreat · 12/07/2023 18:01

Yes. His been named now
He has resigned and the bbc are resuming their investigations

He hasn’t resigned according to the Beeb and the old Bill says there are no criminals charges.

Exactly this. They're thumbing their noses, as though to make the public statement 'you see me, I'm doing this in plain sight, and I'm so powerful there is nothing you can do to stop me!'

It's tantamount to 'no one will believe you if you report me', just a broader and far more public gesture.

The arrogance is next-level.
