BBC Presenter and yet more allegations

1000 replies

friendlycat · 11/07/2023 23:28

It would appear that the front page of tomorrow’s The Sun has further allegations about messages with a new 17 year old. Creepy hearts etc

Scrolling through Sky news and seeing front pages of the papers. This appears bottom right on The Sun front page.

Via civil mechanisms surely?

What did the court say as normally they take their own actions

Family court proceedings are not civil matters, breeches are prosecuted and carry up to 7 years imprisonment.

The ins and outs of my personal experience out the point, the point is the threshold for police involvement is higher than most would expect.

Why would the BBC settle if he's in breach of contract for abusive messages?

Why do disgraced MPs get loss of job compensation? He’s been around the Beeb a very long time, he knows where the bodies are buried. And I bet there are a lot of them.

I don't think it will work in quite the same way.

The BBC is not parliament. I don't think there are the bodies to the same degree. Genuinely.

Blossomtoes · 12/07/2023 17:18

Don’t you? Every large organisation has bodies they don’t want exhumed. Who would ever have thought two weeks ago that this presenter would find themselves here?

Plbrookes · 12/07/2023 17:20

deedeeweewoo · 12/07/2023 16:00

They're shouting paedo at whoever because of a 17 year old, while they counted down the days for fifteen year olds to become 'legal'

That was yesterday's line to take.

Of course they do.

But I do think Parliament is a psychotic dictator level graveyard site whereas the BBC only reaches mass murder levels.

If you catch the difference.

I do feel that the tabloids have had to rein it in a lot lately, but I can remember the days of page 3 and all kinds of dubious activities by many ' red tops '
The phone hacking scandal was really bad
As piers Morgan is often reminded of on Twitter

Family court proceedings are not criminal law.

Someone might act in a way within those proceedings which veers into criminal law but usually the court will guide or steer the breech.

Unfortunately within care proceedings parties often share information that they're not allowed to, people's personal documents etc. I have seen them given a good telling off (if you like) by the judge but never seen it taken further.

Calliecaterpillar · 12/07/2023 17:34

Unfortunately they are part of the press

A particular newspaper which has a sordid reputation itself - at the time of Sam Fox countdown was not operating illegally- disgustingly yes but not illegal

Laws have changed and their had it been today crimes don't stop them from reporting on todays

Double standards mean nothing when they are part of the press - they are still in operation and can report on the story and it's one way we the public find out there is a story

topnoddy · 12/07/2023 17:44

Odd that these people are contacting The Scum and not the police isn't it

I was 17 with a 24 year old boyfriend.
Times have changed I guess, but all my friends had slightly older boyfriends, who would want to go out with someone the same age?

17 and 24 is worlds away from 17 and 61.

It's repugnant and an extreme abuse of power.

No not odd at all

They did and have contacted police and began there.

Then the bbc

Finally the press.

It has all actually been reported with this timeline now

It most certainly did via witness intimidation and perverting the course of justice. Nothing to do with care proceedings thank goodness but still terrible implications for privacy. And this individual was allowed to keep a trusted position. That’s my only point. The police can be very difficult to convince to intervene.

Calliecaterpillar · 12/07/2023 17:50

As for second accuser going to police- they obviously didn't and didn't do anything till first accusers parents broke the story

What would they say? I'm a 20 year old man and bc I threatened to out a celeb he was sending me nasty messages?

Police would just tell him to block the individual

They've come forward bc there's a pattern they've suddenly become aware of and had some evidence of character to back up the parents claims

adriftabroad · 12/07/2023 17:55

All those saying "oh The SCUM" I would not do that bla bla bla. "What sort of MOTHER does that?"

Worked though.

That man will not be free to do this again. (The 20 year old has no idea he was being abused. YET.)
His poor, poor wife and DCs.

Yes, I agree but I was making the point that Family proceedings (both care proceedings and other family matters) are civil law, not criminal law. You said they were criminal law

Breeches within that, are usually guided by the court that is dealing with the matter at the time.

Section 51 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 - its a criminal offence. Action should have been taken.

DrBlackbird · 12/07/2023 18:00

So Evan Davies just mentioned a name, does this mean it can now be said here? I am gutted. Always thought he was one of the good ones.

Calliecaterpillar · 12/07/2023 18:00
