Could we PLEASE have a thread that stays up?

Meaning don't name anyone, or any programme or ask for initials or hint.

I just would like to discuss how this is likely to unfold.

Are people really hinting it's a transgender teenager ?

Seems that way?
It was reported as 'Youth' then a media person said it's definitely a girl.

Mind you- if the 17 yr old had an ''Only fans'' that surely is actually wanting to sell images of themselves- Seems like the mother found the phone and was nosing around - and found the pics.

It's as if the mother is blaming the presenter for getting her child addicted- by being so 'generous' with money {£35,000 is a vast amount for a few images, surely}

WhisperingAutistic · 09/07/2023 19:30

A newsreaders wiki has been locked for editing. I imagine it must have been trolled.

SirVixofVixHall · 09/07/2023 19:30

I have heard from a v reliable source that it is a boy.

ilovebrie8 · 09/07/2023 19:30

I haven’t seen any mention of trans gender. I thought it was a female

Curiouscarla · 09/07/2023 19:31

The parent has put their childs life in tatters now. Their identity is bound to get out and I'm sure there are 2 sides this saga.

LaurieFairyCake · 09/07/2023 19:32

The mum is saying girl, everyone else saying boy - so likely a trans teen

topnoddy · 09/07/2023 19:32

OK so what have we got so far ?
29 pages and over 700 posts mostly spouting complete and utter bollocks !

Is that one of those plastic figures that can be turned into a car ?

Crummles · 09/07/2023 19:34

LOL 😂

Curiouscarla · 09/07/2023 19:37

This thread is utter bollocks. And how can their be a court case if the alleged 'victim' refuses to be a witness. It will be laughed out of court.

Curiouscarla · 09/07/2023 19:38

There

Iamacatslave · 09/07/2023 19:40

@Curiouscarla 100% agree with you.

Seems it was his or her mum that kicked off, after snooping at his/her phone?

ThisWOMANWontWheesht · 09/07/2023 19:45

This whole thing is so bizarre. Regardless of who the presenter is, we don't know for sure that they've definitely done anything wrong.
A PP said "what about the screenshots" Really? It's pretty easy to fake pics! And that a famous presenter would send a pic of themself at their BBC work desk - in this scenario - just seems so unlikely.

I don't mean the mother or child are lying, but they may have been duped.

Curiouscarla · 09/07/2023 19:45

Well I just hope the Mum is ready for the fall out.... and it will be huge.

Itsbeennice · 09/07/2023 19:46

Iwasafool · 09/07/2023 19:27

Wouldn't it be treated differently to say someone having such photos of a 13 year old knowing they were 13? I mean say it goes to court I wouldn't think someone who genuinely thought a 17 year old was 18 would deserve the same sentence as the person with the photos of a 13 year old.

It's absolutely, 100% a crime to request, share or possess sexualised photos of anyone under 18. I know what you mean, @Iwasafool - there might be a defence in 'not knowing', but it is still a crime. I think police and schools and parents have to tread carefully so as not to criminalise every young person experimenting without knowing the law. But that is the law! Schools go to tremendous efforts to educate children about this.

I know this is a bit radical but do you think the mother might know the sex of her child better than "everyoe else."

I bet PS is loving this he’s old news now

I was thinking the opposite. Brings back up the topic of safeguarding by television companies and whether appropriate procedures were followed.

It's been shunted down the news but the Mail also ran a story today about Phil lying about the character reference he provided for one of his young friends prosecuted for revenge porn.

SirVixofVixHall · 09/07/2023 19:30

I have heard from a v reliable source that it is a boy.

Would you care to give more information as to the reliability of that source? Without that, you're just another poster online claiming special insight with nothing to back that up.

Yes I know it is the law, I was talking about how someone would be sentenced, there are usually guidelines aren't there, not everyone who commits a certain crime gets the same sentence.

MowingTheTerf · 09/07/2023 19:49

There are too many details that are missing, and perhaps deliberately missing because it may turn the tables in this scandal.

If it was OnlyFans, then the person in question lied about their age, to the website and consequently to any paying customers. Not sure how legally that would play out.

Was the person earning so much money that they started spending it on drugs? Are they as vulnerable as they are making out?

Or is the case that the BBC presenter knew the person's age and sought photographs regardless?

WhisperingAutistic · 09/07/2023 19:51

This woman is a BBC presenter and was asked if it's the certain newsreader..
