BST Hyde Park show tips

Can anyone going over the next week or so please give any tips specifically about best (quietest) toilets, good viewpoints (ideally staying seated until the main act!) and anything else that might help others!

Not been to an outdoor concert in years and off to see Bruce Springsteen! But comfort is my main priority 🤣

Ooh watching with interest - taking dd to see guns n roses and she's desperate to be close to the stage so I guess getting there asap is vital!

MMAMPWGHAP · 29/06/2023 10:27

Bruce has played around 3 hours at each show. I would not arrive past 7pm. Also queues will build up at that time so 6pm would be better. Not saying queues are badly managed but better to have some contingency. Most will be there much earlier.

Also last night in Ullevi (Gothenburg) he played Twist & Shout for first time this tour. That’s the track that got cut by the curfew at Hyde Park. So look out for that. Thinking he might want to finish it. Probably Saturday I reckon.

I've possibly a very stupid question - I'm going to the natural history museum on Sunday. We've never been before - are down visiting from Scotland had planned on a walk in Hyde Park / Kensington Gardens - can we still do that if this is on?

You won’t get into Hyde park, and honestly I’d avoid the area it will be full of crowds and people without tickets sitting outside to listen. I went a few years ago to Phil Collins and it’s pandemonium , it’s about 60 thousand people per day

Theos · 29/06/2023 15:05

I’ve a Q. How long to get out of the park at the end?

Theos · 29/06/2023 15:08

I’m gold circle. Anyone got intel on that?

thaegumathteth · 29/06/2023 15:25

thanks @Daisiesandprimroses we have parking booked at the museum so will probably still go there. Will we be able to get into Kensington gardens?

Is BS playing just on Sunday?

@thaegumathteth you will be fine going for a walk in Kensington Gardens, and probably also in Hyde Park away from the arena eg the south side of the Serpentine, the rose garden, the west side bit by the bird sanctuary.

@Theos it could easily be an hour to get out. We always try to make our way to the back during the last song and watch any encores near the exits. Queues start to build up before the end.

Anyone see Pink last night with any tips?

I saw her on Saturday! I queued from 5.30am tho and got to the barrier.

I'll be honest the queuing system and gates aren't the best or most visible and if you get to the wrong gate it's a heft walk round.

Toilets were fine, hardly any queue and quite clean. Lots of water stations. Food and drink are extortionate. You can't take any food or drink in apart from a bottle of water. There's airport type scanners and you'll have your bag checked. From the gate entrance it's quite a hike up to the stage and there is minimal seating (this might be different to other shows but hardly any at pink.) u wasn't even allowed to take my cushion in to sit on so that was binned.

If you're getting back to Waterloo after and you're relatively mobile. Walk it. The tubes were fucking rammed and I couldn't get an Uber or taxi for miles. Took about 50 mins to walk. So if you need to get anywhere pre book a cab but the roads will be blocked off so keep that in mind.

Plenty of food and drink stands.
Also random, you're not allowed to take glitter in there!

beatingtheodds · 29/06/2023 18:01

Also my tickets were on the BST app on my phone so make sure your phone has charge!

thaegumathteth · 29/06/2023 18:16

Thanks @Namechangeforanamechange and @Daisiesandprimroses .

It is on from 23 June - 8 July. It is still open (with free entry) on days when there aren't any big gigs - they have open air cinema, free music, kids events etc. The food and drink vendors are open too.

If anyone goes before Saturday can they take a pic of the prohibited items at the gates please. From my experience they are more strict than what they put on the website. I'm specifically interest in Suntan lotion as I'm gonna burn In 24 degree heat and if they confiscate I'll be pissed off.

bastedyoungturkey · 29/06/2023 20:01

For anyone there on Saturday, just a heads up - the Pride parade sets off from Hyde park corner at noon. Hopefully all the joviality will have moved on by the time doors open but just thought it was worth warning people.

Namechangeforanamechange · 30/06/2023 17:36

After the nth dropped phonecall today, I've just remembered another tip - phone reception can be a bit iffy if the system is overloaded. You might want to prearrange a rendezvous-vous point if you are meeting people or in case you get separated.

Drumbalina · 01/07/2023 10:49

Bumping for the weekend crowd!

Had a great time yesterday at Guns and Roses, we did pay for more than general admission but actually was impressed with the facilities in the main admission area

loads of food stalls for every taste, toilets got grotty but there were a lot of them

Matildahoney · 01/07/2023 23:41

Just back to our accommodation after Take That, phone reception was shocking for the best part. Trying to get to the loos to the right on the stage was horrendous, but once you were there the loos were plentiful & clean. We found water queues ok. Signage isn't too great for finding the right entrance though, and you all seem to get herded to the same exit at the end.

Did you have a great time though?

I'm so excited for Billy Joel 😍 next week.

As always they were incredible! And Lulu turned up for Relight my fire!
Ah he'll be amazing I'm sure!

CatticusFinch · 02/07/2023 09:20

It was absolutely fantastic! The Script were great and Take That delivered as always! Toilets were busy but there were loads and although it looked like loads of people were going into the toilet area, there was barely any wait once in there and they were of a decent standard. Bar queues were busy but well managed.
