BST Hyde Park show tips

Can anyone going over the next week or so please give any tips specifically about best (quietest) toilets, good viewpoints (ideally staying seated until the main act!) and anything else that might help others!

Not been to an outdoor concert in years and off to see Bruce Springsteen! But comfort is my main priority 🤣

@Matildahoney go to the TfL website or type in baby on board badge into google. It can take a week to arrive so try and order today

gogomoto · 26/06/2023 08:52

Take a blanket/plastic bag each to sit on, empty plastic water bottle (disposable one not fancy as sometimes they take them off you, we have experienced both, refill point inside) .

There's a raised section of ground on right hand side near toilets and water point 2/3 way down. I always head there

gogomoto · 26/06/2023 08:53

Eat properly before going in, you can't take food in and outlets were not only expensive but stupid long queues

Watching - Bruce ticket here
What's the gold circle like ? Anyone been in that ?

Great tips and thank you!

buzzing · 26/06/2023 13:09

I was going to ask the very same, so thank you for this thread!

Going to see Bruce on the 6th with my Mum so good to be able to plan the day a bit.

I've just been on the BST website and it says no umbrellas... I saw someone upthread suggesting taking one but that looks like a no go.

I'm watching because I'm seeing Billy Joel too, @TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening - and I saw Harry Styles a week or so ago, do we have the same eclectic taste in music? Grin

Quite possibly.
I also saw Mika last week, Jamiroquai and George Ezra this week, and Maroon 5 the same week as Billy!

ellenpartridge · 26/06/2023 14:11

I've been a couple of times a few years ago, the years with Taylor Swift, The National, Florence and the Machine... If going without kids it is pretty easy and chilled. Not too packed, decent toilets, no major prep or organisation and logistics needed! You'll be fine.

BROWN79 · 26/06/2023 17:21

Their website says you can take a 500ml bottle of water in. Is this right?

Amex is sponsoring and are giving out 500ml bottles. I took a 2l refillable bottle but I am pregnant so maybe that's why they didn't mind.

I saw P!nk over the weekend - I'm a complete festival novice! It was fab.

We had gold circle tickets, arrived about 11.45 for the queue and we managed to get front barrier spots (great for leaning as much as the stage view!) once we got in at 1pm so I sat down all day until support acts started. Gwen came on at 6.10 and then everyone had understandably surged forward so had to stay standing, but P!nk was on at 8.20 so not bad indeed.

Tip - the security staff at the front of Gold (stage) will refill water / drinks bottles throughout the whole day without you having to move.

Food queues were better early on. Agree about the toilet queues but there are so many, they go down really quickly.

Getting out was a nightmare with lots of bottle necks but once out of the park, we walked a couple of Tube stops rather than queue at the nearest and we were back in Wembley by midnight.

Wouldn't hesitate to go again!

Isabelle70 · 26/06/2023 18:41

Thanks for starting this thread, really useful as we are going on Saturday.
We are staying in Earls Court, so will we have the option of leaving from any of the exits? And I guess it might be easier just to walk to the hotel than wait for the tube?

AllTheFours44 · 26/06/2023 20:46

Oh, I’m so glad I came across this! Heading to see BlackPink on Sunday with my 9 year old super fan. We’re actually travelling from Ireland so any and all tips are welcome as I haven’t been in London in years.

Some excellent tips already, especially around transport and toilets. Two very important items!
We’re staying in Covent Garden so I’m thinking we should perhaps walk towards the Green Line at the end of the night?

As the headline, BP will obviously be last on stage. Just wondering what else will be happening in the park? Being honest, the support acts aren’t performers we are familiar with so wondering if any of you brought your youngish kids and what they enjoyed doing while there.

Thanks to all the contributors, this is so useful.

guestusername · 26/06/2023 21:39

Was there last night for Pink. I took a super small umbrella for shade and had no issues although we didn’t end up needing to use it. I took a backpack which I didn’t realise was slightly bigger than A4 but it wasn’t a problem. The queues for water were way worse than the queue for the loos by the other stage. The queues for the toilets behind the stage were fine though. It was 30°+ yesterday

We saw a few folks with round collapsible plastic seats. You can take a sealed 500ml bottle of water in and an empty refillable bottle.

Anyone know what they do with the stuff that gets confiscated at bag search? There were piles and piles of stuff when we were going through!

chopc · 28/06/2023 17:52

Is there anywhere we can look at what time the supporting acts starts? Going to Guns and Roses tomorrow and would like to see the proclaimers if possible

Assignedtoworryyourmother · 28/06/2023 18:11

chopc check the BST app, all the line up info is on there.

chopc · 28/06/2023 19:55

I have the app but didn't see times. Are times on there?

clare8allthepies · 28/06/2023 20:05

For those that have already been, are they definitely finishing on time every night? I’m getting slightly stressed that it will over run, take us an hour to get out and we’ll miss the last train.

Assignedtoworryyourmother · 28/06/2023 20:26

Chopc my app isn't working so I can't take a screenshot but from memory in the menu there is a Event info page or something similar. Iirc they do a link for every act so you can check their times.
Clare yes, pretty much, never known it to go significantly over any time I've been.

Brefugee · 28/06/2023 20:30

have not RTFT. I went last year (Pearl Jam first night) and it was stunningly well organised (I am a veteran of many many festivals and gigs)

The toilets were flushable, plentiful and cleaned very often. Always had toilet paper in them.
There are water points so take a bottle you can refill.
Take sunscreen there is nearly no shade
Wear a hat
Food and drink is expensive, but the queuing system is excellent so no scrum and it's quite fast.
Sit/lie on the ground alternated with standing up and walking round

Getting out was amazing - we were at our hotel in Kings Cross within about 30 minutes of the end

Kendodd · 28/06/2023 20:37

On Sunday, because its Black Pink, do you think they might finish early? Like no later than 10pm? It's a school night and likely loads of young kids going.

PatriciaHolm · 28/06/2023 20:42

According to the app, BlackPink are on from 8.55 - 10.20, I can't imagine that changing,

Curfew is 10.30, so overrun isn't really possible - they will pull the plug! (and famously have done in the past, to Springsteen)

Of course! I had forgotten about that, oh good, will try not to stress, thank you.

MMAMPWGHAP · 29/06/2023 10:16
