I’ll start, McCain frozen jacket potatoes. Supermarket own brand never cook through properly and it’s so handy to just have one in the freezer

Elemis skincare. Since starting using it my skin has never looked better. It’s pricey so I buy it when it’s on offer or via selling groups on Facebook where you can buy it for 1/3rd the retail price.

Decent shoes. Made the mistake of buying cheap ones and they lasted 4 weeks. I'm about to replace the ones I got in November. (I walk a lot as I don't drive)

OhFGSwhatTFnow · 20/06/2023 19:20

Taylor’s of Harrogate ground coffee/Yorkshire Teabags

Branston Baked Beans

‘Posh’ tomatoes

Finish Dishwasher tablets

…and that old adage…shoes and mattresses.

Agree. My ecco ones last for yonks and are comfortable from first wear.

TomatoSandwiches · 20/06/2023 19:24

Decent well reccomended tradespeople, always happy to pay above average for the right people.

ringoutsolsticebells · 20/06/2023 19:30

Shoes, mattresses, business class flights for long haul

ArbitraryHaddock · 20/06/2023 19:30

First class rail travel.

Davros · 20/06/2023 19:33

Agreed, frozen jacket potatoes? Shock just about the easiest thing to "cook"!
I endorse my Sage tea maker and toaster. Nothing compares!

Thebigblueballoon · 20/06/2023 19:34

Good shoes. I’m not talking about designer heels, but rather decent leather boots that cost a couple of hundred.
Same goes for bags - not the couple of thousand vanity purchases, but sturdy, well-made ones that set you back a couple of hundred.

Burnamer · 20/06/2023 19:35

Me! 😉

NuffSaidSam · 20/06/2023 19:35

Really nice bed sheets.

Newusernamee · 20/06/2023 19:37

Decent wine. Decent travel (first for trains, business for planes) and Decent bras (I’ve got huge boobs!)

(also, as others have said - mattress and shoes!)

Fretfulmum · 20/06/2023 19:37

Heinz ketchup, hot water tap, Tempur bed mattress, Dr Obaji skincare, proper fitting kids shoes

Coffeaddict · 20/06/2023 19:38

Fairy dishwasher tablets

Hellmanns mayonnaise

When I first read the title kitchenaid came to mind but I see from your description this isn't what you meant 😅

PrincessHoneysuckle · 20/06/2023 19:40

Extra legroom seats on a plane.

Davros · 20/06/2023 19:40

Fairy washing up liquid is the best

Paying for premium aesthetics both product and practitioners. I know mumsnet is not a fan, but paying a doctor to administer facial aesthetics, vs beautician/ex-dental nurse is night and day.

Razors - 'men's' razors are miles better than the 'women's' ones.

Hair care products - salon products are much better and worth the spend.

Disagree re. Pillows. I like the cheapo ones, just find them more comfortable and can change them more frequently.

ArcticBells · 20/06/2023 19:45

Sausages. You get what you pay for

AffIt · 20/06/2023 19:45

Bin bags, shoes, full-length winter coats and carpets are the few things I never economise on - always buy the best you can afford at the time.

I've recently expanded that list to include leggings (although Sainsbury's Tu are fine at a pinch).

GatesOfBabylon · 20/06/2023 19:46

Apple products - they last years. On eof my MacBookPros was bought in 2014 and is still used daily.

I agree on boots. OH bought a pair of boots from America in 2008 for £250, has worn them almost daily and they still look great when polished and never needed a repair - he has had to put cheap insoles in them mind. Same boots cost £500 new now.
