Do you know someone who shares a birthday with their sibling? (Not twins!)

Just wondering.
A friend of mine was born on her brother's birthday.
Another friend has her DC X number of years and one week apart (not quite the same!)

I wonder how common the exact same birthday is

@LittleBumblebee3 you could be the family@shadowchancesassy mentioned!!

@Midnightpony Just went for a hunt for the post 🤣 Definitely not us - all have very different names 😊 but how funny that it’s so common! DH was born on his due date (his dads bday) and I remember finding out I was pregnant and working out dates etc then having my scan and then confirming EDD was DHs birthday. We didn’t find out the sex but everyone kept saying to me “I think it’s a girl!” and how babies are rarely born on their EDD and I was like “trust me, it’s a boy and he’ll arrive on that date” 🤣🤣 and right enough, he appeared right on time 🙈

DSS has a little sister with a birthday the day after him

Beezknees · 20/06/2023 12:34

No. I know somebody who had 2 children born in the same year though, one in January and one in November.

Aunt and Uncle are same day, seven years apart.
Grandfather and cousin.
Mother and Brother.

My mother and her sister.

Clearly there is roughly a 1 in 365 chance that any two people (siblings or not) will share the same birthday.

I share the same birthday with two out of my three SILs.

When you put it like that, the odds aren't actually that small 🤣

MrsSamR · 20/06/2023 12:45

My sister and I have/had the same birthday. I was born on her 14th birthday which I don't think she thanked me for at the time but as we got older I think she enjoyed it more! Sadly she died last year, 19 days after our birthday in September so this year's birthday will be tough 😔

NannyGythaOgg · 20/06/2023 13:14

I have a brother whose birthday is the day before mine - he is 6 years older. I have 2 other brothers whose birthdays are on consecutive days 3 years apart AND yet another brother who was due on my sister's birthday but was born exactly a month early by EMCS due to preeclampsia - they would have been 2 years apart

Maggiesgirl · 20/06/2023 13:27

Myself and two older brothers were born on the 17th, 18th and 19th of February, two years between each of us. Then Mum had twins 4 years later.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 20/06/2023 13:34

No but me and a close friend have dc with the same birthday

Goneback2school · 20/06/2023 13:36

2 of my mother's sisters share a birthday...which coincidentally is also my birthday.

MaxwellCat · 20/06/2023 13:36

Not the same but I have 3 children born in march, 10th 22nd and 25th.. it’s an expensive month 🤦🏻‍♀️ (the 22nd and 25 are only a year apart so they are they same age for 3 days 🤣)

user1498572889 · 20/06/2023 13:39

My friend and her brother were born on the same day 3 years apart.

luckylavender · 20/06/2023 13:52

Yes I do. Two lots.

Ceraunophile · 20/06/2023 14:15

I know two sibling sets who share a birthday.
I was at school with a boy whose birthday was 29th February, his dad’s birthday was also 29th February and so was his paternal grandfather’s.
DP and his sister’s birthdays are a day apart (9 months after his dad’s birthday)
I also know someone whose first baby was two weeks late and her second was two months early so they ended up being exactly two years minus a day apart.

Carryonkeepinggoing · 20/06/2023 09:09

How common is this? About a 1/365 chance of this happening, with a 2 sibling family I would say. Then if a third sibling is born into a family with 2 children with different birthdays the odds would be doubled and so on.
I mean it’s not quite that simple a calculation because some people can choose when they get pregnant fairly easily and want to avoid conceiving in certain months etc etc but on a population level I would expect it to more or less even out.

Glad you said this so I didn't have to.

Whylurkwhenicanjoinin · 20/06/2023 22:48

Yes me, my sister is three years younger than me and we were both born on our Dad’s birthday

knockyknees · 21/06/2023 22:19

2 of my dad's sisters share a birthday, about 15 years apart, and 60ish years later their great niece was also born on the same day.

When the great niece was pregnant, her baby was also due on that day, but came 2 days late. (12 years later, and I'm still annoyed the baby came late and messed with the date. 😆).

MissingMoominMamma · 21/06/2023 22:23

DH and his sister, but 9 years apart.

Inks42 · 23/06/2023 07:26

My two older sisters, 9 years apart.
Also, my brother shares his birthday with our niece.

crumpet · 23/06/2023 07:51

I’d be curious to know what events might have been occurring 9 months prior. My friends 3 are all born c. 9 months after bonus announcements 😄

My second child was born on my daughters first birthday (he died the next day)

Quite a bitter sweet day now the 25th April :(

I know someone who had both her DCs on her birthday. Both babies were premature as well (her DS in particular was extremely prem) which makes it even more unlikely. We were all joking about it happening with her DD as well and no one believed her when she messaged to say she was in labour.

Fbawtft · 24/06/2023 15:06

My 2 children have the same birthday 3 years apart. Fortunately they love it (so far) and think of themselves as “almost twins”

Twospaniels · 24/06/2023 15:19

My cousin has two daughters who share a birthday, 2 yrs apart.

Cheeseplantt · 24/06/2023 15:39

My cousins are 3 years & 2 days apart. Their parents wedding anniversary was 9 months before....

They now celebrate their birthdays as a family on the day between their birthdays which works out well.
