Do you know someone who shares a birthday with their sibling? (Not twins!)

Just wondering.
A friend of mine was born on her brother's birthday.
Another friend has her DC X number of years and one week apart (not quite the same!)

I wonder how common the exact same birthday is

Me.

My brother was born on my 10th birthday. My party had to be cancelled because of him so I obviously don't let him forget that.

SouthCountryGirl · 20/06/2023 07:17

My cousin's were born 7 years and one day apart.

My mum's birthday is the day after my dad's.

I have a friend whose son shares the same birthday as him.

HippyChickMama · 20/06/2023 07:20

Mine were due on the same date, 6 years apart. I went two weeks over with dc1 and 3 days over with dc2 so there's actually 11 days between their birthdays. No special date 9 months before, both were actively planned, dc1 I got pregnant first month of trying, dc2 took a few months

DP has sisters with a 13 year age gap and they share the same birthday. Sadly, they can't stand the sight of each other, so no happy shared parties😆

BarryKentPoet · 20/06/2023 07:22

My own children share a birthday, 2 years apart.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 20/06/2023 07:23

Yes, I have a friend who shares a birthday with a sibling a few years younger than her.

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 20/06/2023 07:25

I know a pair who are a year apart, same day. They hate sharing a birthday and have a terrible relationship with each other - I'm sure that's not all down to the birthday, but it really doesn't help!

I also know two who have the same birthday (two years apart) and also their mum's birthday is that day too. Must make it easy for dad/husband to remember!

TitoMojito · 20/06/2023 07:26

Not siblings but I know a family where the son was born on the dad's birthday.

My work friend has two kids born on her birthday and one born the day after. All born within a year of one another too.

So hers is April 12, 1984
DS1 is April 13, 2009
DD is April 12, 2010
DS2 is April 12, 2011

I can't imagine giving birth on my birthday either.

Not really the most fun way to spend a birthday 😆

InceyWinceySpidy · 20/06/2023 07:28

My uncle, son, and cousin all share the same day.

So for my Nan, she has 3DC. Daughter A, Daughter B and Son C.

Son C was born on eg 1st Jan.

The daughter of daughter B, was born on 1st Jan.

The daughter of daughter A, had a son, born on 1st Jan.

So she has a child, grandchild and great grandchild all on 1st Jan, through all three of her children.

Also the son of son C was born on 1 Feb, who's daughter was born on 1 Feb.

My brother and my son's father also share the same birthday.

My sister and I share a birthday with a 3 year gap. It was rubbish as a kid but it’s ok as an adult- any time I feel freaked out about my age, I can comfort myself with the fact that she’s older!

headcheffer · 20/06/2023 07:34

Yes I know of two siblings both born on NYD.

CarolDunne · 20/06/2023 07:35

2 of my uncles, 20 years apart

LennyBalls · 20/06/2023 07:39

No but I know someone who has three children born on 15th, 16th and 17th July three consecutive years apart.

LetItGoHome · 20/06/2023 07:41

I was born on my brother's 3rd birthday. We always loved it growing up. We had huge shared birthday parties. We thought it was more fun having someone to share the excitement with.
At school I was friends with a girl who's sister was born on her 2nd birthday.
So I think it's uncommon, but not unheard of!

Stickmansmum · 20/06/2023 07:43

My boys are one day apart. Exactly 9 months after our wedding day and anniversary. 🤗

newtb · 20/06/2023 07:43

Dd's birthday is the same as her second cousin's who, I think, has the same birthday as his brother. Lots of birthdays in xh's family in the first 2 weeks of October.

ThreeRingCircus · 20/06/2023 07:47

I know two sisters with the same birthday, 3 years apart.

I also have two friends that both share birthdays with one of their DC and both say giving birth on their own birthday was absolutely dreadful 🤣.

weightymatters73 · 20/06/2023 07:47

It is more common than you would imagine and is to do with people who have very regular menstrual cycles - Both my kids were born on the same day of different months, my cycles are (were) very regular...

HawdMeBack · 20/06/2023 07:54

Me! There's 4 years to the day between me and my brother.

Mygrandadwasmywingman · 20/06/2023 07:54

Ds and my mother share a birthday

She was not happy about being yanked out of bed at 5:30am to get me to the hospital

Even more unhappy that it's not just 'her special day' anymore and she has to share it with her grandson

I'd be over the moon if my grandchild was born on my birthday

Lovesabadboy · 20/06/2023 07:56

Whadda · 20/06/2023 03:26

It’s late at night and I can’t sleep so I may be missing something here, but if your daughter was born on your 29th birthday, how did you turn 50 on the day she turned 18? Were you not 47 on her 18th?

Ha!! Yeah - it was late when I posted last night!!

I meant 21st and 50th!

Maths has never been my forte! 😂

CrunchyCarrot · 20/06/2023 07:56

Yes my ex-H and his brother (older by about a decade) were both born on the same day. Only ex decided he wanted his own special day so his was 'officially' the next day!

MrsHsGirl · 20/06/2023 07:57

Not quite the same but my friends parents were born on the same date (including same year).

She said as a child she thought you had to marry someone with the same birthday as you and always wondered how she'd find the person 😂

exhaustedlongtime · 20/06/2023 07:58

My second child was born on my daughters first birthday (he died the next day)

Quite a bitter sweet day now the 25th April :(
