Do you know someone who shares a birthday with their sibling? (Not twins!)

Just wondering.
A friend of mine was born on her brother's birthday.
Another friend has her DC X number of years and one week apart (not quite the same!)

I wonder how common the exact same birthday is

My ex was the son of a twin, both twins had a son on their shared birthday two years apart. So ex, his mum, his aunt and his cousin all shared the same birthday.
It was in mid november so he joked they were probably all valentines babies

I gave birth to my first daughter on my 29th birthday.

It is lovely to share our birthday and it even worked out that we had milestone 18th and 50th birthdays together!

Some people have pointed out to her that it will be quite sad for her when I am no longer here to share the day with, but I just see it that she will have lots of lovely memories of many shared birthday celebrations.

My sister and I, 5 years apart. Absolutely love it.

My sister had her DD on her birthday then 3 years later had her DS the day after her and DD's birthdays.

pnutter · 20/06/2023 00:32

Yes , I do . With one of my sisters

TooBigForMyBoots · 20/06/2023 00:32

My mum. She is a twin and she was born on her sister's 5th birthday.Grin

cannotfindanickname · 20/06/2023 00:42

That almost happened with my kids. DS was born 1 day before DD's 3rd birthday.

NoCoincidence · 20/06/2023 01:05

Not quite, however (and I've name changed as this is so identifiable!) my 10, 14 and 16 year olds all had precisely the same due date.

We can track this to the same conception date +/- one day with absolute precision due to the time of year and opportunities for said conception to occur... (a-hem!) They weren't actually born on the same day though, one late, one early and one induced early.

As it happens, I did have other unsuccessful pregnancies, but all at different times of the year, yet all three of these made it to term. One loss was conceived on Valentine's Day and the other on ExH's birthday. Predictably, it seems I never got lucky on my own birthday though Grin

A friend has two DC with the same birthday a couple of years apart.

I have cousins who are siblings a few years apart whose birthdays are just a couple of days from each other.

Not quite the same thing but I also have 2 cousins who are siblings who were born in the same year (one start of Jan, one end of Dec). My aunt once had a doctor's receptionist say she'd got the years wrong when they were registering there because she had put the same year for both kids.

Jules198711 · 20/06/2023 01:44

My mum and her sister were born on the same day 2 years apart

coxesorangepippin · 20/06/2023 01:44

I know three kids all born on the same day (albeit two of the kids are twins, but they were born on the same day as their older brother)

Makes for cheaper parties!

MrsMikeDrop · 20/06/2023 01:49

Yep, my dad and his sister. I saw a couple on Ellen who had 2 children all born on the same day, the counted back 9 months and it was ok the husbands birthday 🤣

SittinOnTheDock · 20/06/2023 02:58

There's five days (and some years!) between all the birthdays of my three children.

That was meant to say 3 children all born on the same day!

frazzledasarock · 20/06/2023 03:23

My dc has a birthday same days as her twin aunties. IL’s turn it into an excuse to throw an enormous combined party.

My birthday is the same day as my SIL, IL’s love a good old celebration and I tend to get swept into her shared celebrations. Which I don’t mind as I grew up with a combination of family who never celebrated my birthday and a terrible date (after Christmas before pay day, nobody is in the mood to celebrate).

garlictwist · 20/06/2023 03:25

Me! I turn 42 on Saturday and my sister will turn 40.

It’s late at night and I can’t sleep so I may be missing something here, but if your daughter was born on your 29th birthday, how did you turn 50 on the day she turned 18? Were you not 47 on her 18th?

Londonnight · 20/06/2023 06:28

Mine and my sister are on the same day. She is 10 years younger than me.
My brother and niece share a day. My son and cousin share a day.
It seems a common thread in my family.

DinosApple · 20/06/2023 06:42

My mum and her brother, 5 years apart.
It is also the same date when their two maternal grandmothers died more than 50 years apart (their grandad remarried).

Rtmhwales · 20/06/2023 06:49

My work friend has two kids born on her birthday and one born the day after. All born within a year of one another too.

So hers is April 12, 1984
DS1 is April 13, 2009
DD is April 12, 2010
DS2 is April 12, 2011

I can't imagine giving birth on my birthday either.

TroysMammy · 20/06/2023 06:52

Two Uncles and two Aunties, same family. Also two cousins and a friend's children.

DelilahJane · 20/06/2023 06:54

My best friend and her sister share a birthday, three years apart.

My SIL was born on FIL birthday.

My dad has an aunt that shares a birthday with two of her children, born a few years apart in the 60s

NotTwinsies · 20/06/2023 06:55

Yes, me! Don’t think my sister has ever quite forgiven me for being born on her birthday.

romdowa · 20/06/2023 06:57

When I was pregnant, my obstetrician told me she was born on her sisters birthday and because of this she will not preform a section on anyone's birthday in the pregnant woman's family. I should have had my section on my birthday but she scheduled it for 3 days later. She said she hated sharing a birthday and she'll never purposely do that to another child. Obviously in an emergency she has no choice.
