How old is 'too old' for a child to be naked at a splash park?

Sitting here with the 4yo niece charge at a splash park... 6/7 year old girl running round starkers! I'm a bit shocked tbh.

Now I have been "caught short" before, but she's just been sent in the water in her knickers, because she can always just go commando on the way home.

I think anything around 3+ is too old tbh.

Is she naked or is she wearing knickers?

Needmorelego · 19/06/2023 15:54

How do you know she’s about 6 or 7?

Mummaneedsabreak · 19/06/2023 15:55

No child should be naked at a public splash park.

boysmuminherts · 19/06/2023 15:55

Also confused who is naked if she's wearing pants?

LunaMay · 19/06/2023 15:55

Hate all kids naked in public if i'm honest

Because she's the size of a 6/7 year old...

She is entirely naked.

I was just saying that my niece has and would still wear her knickers if we were caught short and happened upon a splash park.

Completely naked

This would always be what I’d do, irrespective of age. No toddler or child should be naked in public.

Oh god. Yes sorry the child wearing knickers is my niece.

Incan see why my post was confusing... Sorry

I agree and I think most British people probably would but views on this differ across Europe.

ReeseWitherfork · 19/06/2023 15:58

I always feel a bit uncomfortable around naked kids (that I don’t know) when they hit school sort of age. I don’t have any conviction in that assessment though. If someone came up with a compelling argument either way, I’d be interested to hear them out.

Although topless girls don’t faze me. Probably ever tbh.

RosesAndHellebores · 19/06/2023 15:59

A 6/7 year old wouldn't particularly bother me and I am sorry if it bothers others. Providing there's supervision.

Absolem76 · 19/06/2023 16:00

Some 3 year olds are as tall as some 6 year olds so I don't think you can assume.
However I don't think children of any age should be naked in a park.

This. It's a public place so no level of nakedness is appropriate. Pants if necessary due to lack of swimwear available for an unplanned trip.

Remmy123 · 19/06/2023 16:00

Not necessary for any child to be naked at a splash park!

Discwriter · 19/06/2023 16:01

I think all kids all ages need at least knickers.

Soubriquet · 19/06/2023 16:01

Hmmmm it’s a hard one. I mean, honestly it should be ok for any child pre-puberty to do this but realistically it’s not.

I would say 5 is probably the max and even that’s pushing it. Most parents would do the nappy or knicker method. I know I did if we end up somewhere.

I have photos of ds in a nappy crawling through water

QueenVerilas · 19/06/2023 16:01

I wouldn't have any child naked at a splash park. Unsurprisingly, they attract paedophiles.

Georgig · 19/06/2023 16:02

Totally naked at 3+ is a bit weird, I have no problem with girls in just bikini bottoms until they're 12+ and actually have something to cover!

Comefromaway · 19/06/2023 16:03

I would not expect to see any child naked in a water park, even if they were only wearing a swim nappy.

LegendsBeyond · 19/06/2023 16:05

No child should be naked at a waterpark. They deserve to have their privacy protected. I’m astounded that any parent lets their child go naked in public, given that there are so many creeps around.

redskytwonight · 19/06/2023 16:05

Splash parks near us don't allow children to be naked at any age.
Sadly, they state the reason is due to the potential for unsavoury characters.

Exactly.
Paedophiles congregate at places like this.
