The fact that Johnson was sitting in meetings is not evidence that he was working

Indeed - I don't know why we have so many complaining teachers on Mumsnet - they just sit there in staff meetings, nursing a cup of coffee, dreaming about their next holiday.

Oh, I'm sure all or most of the other people in the meetings were working. It's just that word is that Johnson wasn't.

DuncinToffee · 13/06/2023 20:58

Tell me, what am I complaining about?

May I complain about the dismal lack of ability of Boris' fans to hold a consistent discussion?

I heard that Johnson was only responsible for the pot plants and entertainments to raise morale in Downing Street, so if he were in a meeting, was it about pot or parties?

cakeorwine · 13/06/2023 21:11

This - and this came after a week of media speculation before PMQs

Keir Starmer
(Holborn and St Pancras) (Lab)
May I join the Prime Minister in his words on disability and the victims of extreme weather? May I also mark World AIDS Day? Extraordinary advances mean that people living with HIV on effective treatment can now enjoy normal life expectancy and are no longer at risk of passing on the virus. It is within our hands to end new transmissions in the UK this decade. We must do so.
As millions of people were locked down last year, was a Christmas party thrown in Downing Street for dozens of people on 18 December?

PM
What I can tell the right hon. and learned Gentleman is that all guidance was followed completely in No. 10. May I recommend that he does the same with his own Christmas party, which is advertised for 15 December and to which, unaccountably, he has failed to invite the deputy Leader of the Opposition?

He had a week to ask someone, to find out, to get reassurance.

And he LIED

If nothing else, the undignified spat over the honours system will hopefully hasten it's end ....

I firmly believe Nads is a genius and that is her aim.

He's not being barred from being PM Confused
He resigned from being PM because his own MPs got sick of his lies.

He's resigned as an MP without waiting for the report and without facing his peers or his constituents.

He didn't even wait to issue a rebuttal and wait to see if MPs decided the amend the findings. He swerved Parliamentary process.

He ran away.

Quite why anyone would believe he is worthy of their trust and admiration I'll never understand.

You forgot to mention that what precipitatedJohnson's downfall was for supporting and continuing to support Chris Pincher, who had multiple allegations of sexual misconduct against him. Johnson had all the information going back to 2017.

He is a man with poor judgement.

Exasperatednow · 13/06/2023 22:04

*was supporting and continuing to support

ilovesooty · 13/06/2023 23:02

Imagine being someone who continues to support Johnson knowing that he minimised and condoned sexual assault.

Maggiethecat · 14/06/2023 00:04

Chris Patten;

“he should stop whining about it and get on with what he's plainly going to do best, which is going around making dishevelled speeches and making lots of money from them”

wish he would just frigg off and take Smoggs and Co with him

Spot on, Chris Patten.

borntobequiet · 14/06/2023 06:37

I definitely wouldn’t shop at Smoggs & Co. They sound dodgy.

Yellowdays · 14/06/2023 07:55

Just popping in to remind people of a the school report sent by Johnson's headteacher, when Johnson was 17:

The report, from classics master Martin Hammond to Stanley Johnson in 1982, criticised the 17-year-old for thinking he should be free of the "network of obligation that binds everyone".
The teacher also said Johnson "believes it is churlish of us not to regard him as an exception".
Very pertinent now.

What's Nadine playing at? Nobody will notice any difference if she does resign since she doesn't exactly do her MP job but at least it would mean they could get an actual MP in her constituency.

IClaudine · 14/06/2023 09:01

Nads thinks she is far more important than she is. I bet it stings that her hero has shattered his promise to her. I don't think it was Sunak who blocked her going to thr HoL at all. Why would he scupper her and not Charlotte Owen?

SerendipityJane · 14/06/2023 09:09

Nadine has been stitched up like a kipper.

Having been tricked into seriously believing she was being made a peer (showing a lack of self awareness you would expect)

She then wallowed in the press reports that were pushing that belief (rather than a dignified refusal to comment)

She then let speculation about bye elections run rife.

Finally when the denouement comes it turns out that not only is she not on the list, but that when Big Boris had the chance to insist he completely swerved it.

I suspect we'll be hearing that she "mis spoke" when she resigned, and will claim she said she was "resigned" to being working class or some such bollocks.

However, a woman scorned bringing Boris down is just too perfect an ending to this unsightly spectacle.

By remaining as an MP she gets to speak in the House free of legal consequences.

I wonder how aware Boris was of the fact that his father was assaulting his mother? It clearly doesn't bother him, and seems likely to be a fairly major factor in his attitude towards women.

It's quite easy to imagine Johnson Snr. giving Boris instructions as he did it.

"Look here son, this is how you treat a woman"

with the very clear knowledge of what a woman is.

Weren't the cops called to Downing St late one night a few years ago, after he was heard being vile to Carrie?

Do you have a link? I hate Johnson with every fibre of my being, but I don't know if this is true.
