Weren't the cops called to Downing St late one night a few years ago, after he was heard being vile to Carrie?

Police were called to Carrie's flat in Camberwell - before he was elected PM

Ah, thanks for the clarification! 😃 Right shit, wrong address...

DuncinToffee · 14/06/2023 09:51

I think we should just stick to the known facts that he is a liar and a cheater.

Yes, agree.

There were more details in the original Times article, but I don't have a subscription.

IClaudine · 14/06/2023 10:05

There is nothing there to say that he assaulted his wife, though. I am not defending him, but I don't hold with making unfounded accusations against people.

I also think that Gosling person is very dubious. If my close friend had been assaulted by her famous husband but chose not to go public, I would respect that and not go dropping hints to the press.

To find oneself the subject of an article discussing ones violent proclivities in one respected national newspaper might be regarded as unfortunate.

Two find oneself in two start to look like a pattern.

I have zero fucks about inverting this countries libel laws to infer from a lack of action that absent a court case and retraction, there is some substance to these stories. Boris was - and still is - free to sue if he feels they have damaged his good name.

Of course the real truth is it suited him to let these stories run to add to that "bad boy" image that he cultivated allowing useful idiots like Nadine Dorries to fawn at his feet.

Speaking of which, is it Clav o'clock yet ?

It says he grabbed and threatened her, that's assault. You don't have to physically hurt someone to assault them, that's battery. You just have to behave in a way that makes them scared you are going to hurt them.

IClaudine · 14/06/2023 10:26

I still prefer to stick to the known facts, they are more than enough! If we start embroidering them with speculation, that only gives his supporters something to latch on to.

No, it says he grabbed and threatened his wife's friend, not his wife.

"Several days after Gosling says Johnson followed her in the street, grabbed her arm and ushered her into the bar.

She says Johnson demanded to know what "lies" his wife had been spreading about him, but she would only tell him that Mostyn-Owen had been upset"

The headlines in the article have been written a slightly misleading way.

IClaudine · 14/06/2023 10:30

Obviously what he did to the friend is very bad!

No evidence that it is true - @TooBigForMyBoots should maybe consider removing it?

Ah, ok. I didn't read it properly as I'm a Scouser and my brain starts to twitch at the sight of The Sun.

Too late, that's my other thread 😎

I'm fine with it standing, the more people who know, the better. Feel free to report it, as long as the link stays up.

By remaining as an MP she gets to speak in the House free of legal consequences.

She'd have to actually turn up to do that!

DuncinToffee · 14/06/2023 13:35

MPs on the privileges committee have finally signed off their long-awaited report.

Showdown coming tomorrow when after a year, we will finally see the findings that triggered Boris Johnson to quit parliament

StormShadow · 14/06/2023 13:49

Popcorn time!

IClaudine · 14/06/2023 13:56

Can't wait!
