Also from the Independent article: "The former PM oversaw a ‘toxic masculine culture’ at Downing Street"

Not at all surprising, but let's hope that makes all the "But he knows what a woman is" bleaters think again.

Notonthestairs · 16/06/2023 20:13

Harman was appointed by Johnson himself. Why didn't he decline?

A committee with a Tory majority carrying out the instructions of Johnsons own Tory majority Government.

Shame Johnson didn't put democracy to the test really.

Kiwano · 16/06/2023 20:17

So, @Janiie, is it OK with you that, if you seriously believe Johnson didn't lie to Parliament, you have to accept his own excuse that he was too stupid to understand the law and that, rather than ask lawyers about it, he asked colleagues who had been at the gatherings in question?

Kiwano · 16/06/2023 20:19

Are you telling us that the whole Pincher saga was a smear campaign, @Janiie ? What is your version, then?

cakeorwine · 16/06/2023 20:19

I wonder if he ever saw Wine Friday and wondered if they were a good idea?

DuncinToffee · 16/06/2023 20:23

Rhondaa · 16/06/2023 20:07

She should ask for a refund on her psychobabble degree tbh, this is utter nonsense.

There isn't a cult like devotion, people can't 'see themselves in him', they aren't 'defending their own shortcomings'.

Again, he was ousted after non stop smear campaigns. Many people can see this ridiculous stitch up and after impartial Sue's impartial report where a vocal Johnson critic was an advisor we then have the privileges committe led by someone who had also been a vocal Johnson critic. It would be laughable if it wasn't all so concerning.

Again he was ousted for appointing a known sex pest, Chris Pincher

He resigned because he lied

IClaudine · 16/06/2023 20:27

Hey jniie, you ever going to reply to my question about how you saw what you saw in NHS staffrooms?

Jake Berry on AQs, saying he has felt afraid of speaking out about the report. Obviously copying the Johnson playbook of positioning himself as some sort of victim. Utterly pathetic.

That was for @Janiie obviously.

Reader comments under Boris Johnson's Mail article are being pre-moderated, and in the near-hour since it was published, precisely four have made the cut.

That's unbelievable. Well, sadly it is believable.

I so wish I'd taken a screenshot as the dozen or so comments earlier were absolutely scathing about Johnson's appointments and had hundreds, into thousands, of up arrows.

cakeorwine · 16/06/2023 20:52

HIGNFY starting soon. Should be amusing

I suppose you have valid qualifications and expertise to support your viewpoint? Or perhaps not.

BunnyBettChetwynnd · 16/06/2023 21:11

Johnson's first article is on the Daily Mail.

A shambling ramble about weight loss drugs.

"I must have been losing four or five pounds a week — maybe more — when all at once it started to go wrong..........................One minute I would be fine, and the next minute I would be talking to Ralph on the big white phone."

It's an embarrassing low even by his standards. What is he doing?

Remember (as proven by me) ChatGPT can write as much Boris bullshit as you like.

BunnyBettChetwynnd · 16/06/2023 21:23

@SerendipityJane He's obviously putting his name to this bilge.

IClaudine · 16/06/2023 21:31

How much are they paying to use his by-line I wonder?

ok, I will confess, I found BoJo's DM column amusing.
He's still a lying untrusthworthy smarmy scumbag, of course.

I hope he takes many years licking his wounds.

absolutely. It’s not like Boris didn’t and still definitely isn’t handing those bloody awful critics material on a plate is it?

poor old chap can’t be expected to simply follow basic rules when he’s under such pressure continuously can he? frankly anyone who had a hand in putting him in the position of PM should hang their heads in shame for asking so much of the delicate little flower.

I get all that but your patronising tone is quite upsetting. Starting with 'You do realise' is always a turn off. You know you're doing it. You're trying to belittle me. Pure and simple. I'm not a Boris Johnson cheerleader. I'm a centre right Remainer.

So you might be but you belittle a FPN designed to try and prevent the spread of a highly contagious disease, yet fully support very heavy fines for farmers that breach bio security...

As the report states, Bojo didn't just have parties, he invited people from outside his work "bubble"

Yet told a little child (and all other children) not to have a birthday party...... i'm at a loss on how you can still support that.

Whatever Starmer did or didn't do, he isn't guilty of such hypocrisy.

Kiwano · 17/06/2023 07:52

Interesting that Johnson has allegedly told his followers not to make a big fight out Monday's vote. It's pretty clear that he's being told that, if they did, it would reveal the reality that he has embarrassingly low levels of support in the Parliamentary party.

Maggiethecat · 17/06/2023 08:07

But on what basis are his most vocal supporters now going to vote in favour of the findings? That they are merely following the instructions of their beloved commander who himself has trashed the report and integrity of some of the committee members 🤔

cakeorwine · 17/06/2023 08:37

I wonder if Mogg and Dorries will face repercussions for what they have said about the committee?

Andrea Jenkyns too.

Maggiethecat · 17/06/2023 08:41

presumably they’ll be called away on urgent business

StormShadow · 17/06/2023 08:45

Yes, I think he's asked them to abstain. As a lot of Tory MPs will be doing that anyway, Johnson and his supporters are probably hoping to blur the lines between their small number and the wider group of Tories who want Johnson done and dusted but don't want to get their own hands any dirtier.

Boris Johnson breaks ministerial code with new Daily Mail job
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-65930008

The comments section in the Daily Mail is scathing about his appointment.

But Sue Grey.
