You got a link for what I said?
Or have you got the wrong person?

Right person, wrong thread it would appear (apologies) - but you quoted the lengthy, puffed-up speech of moral superiority from Ian Blackford on this thread, and Chris Pincher has been referred to several times.

Nope - wrong person.

Haven't mentioned Pincher at all on either of the 2 threads.

So a fuck up there.

Meanwhile - back to Johnson - do you think he committee will say that he did not seek reassurances about whether guidance was being followed?

Johnson could be in more trouble

https://twitter.com/LOS_Fisher/status/1669055180430516264?s=20

Boris Johnson has been found to have committed ‘multiple’ contempts of Parliament in privileges cmtte report out tomorrow, according to people close to inquiry.

One source said on top of misleading MPs over lockdown parties, it was a contempt to discuss cmtte draft conclusion last Fri.

“Disclosing the outcome of the inquiry is itself a contempt of parliament. It is clear cut, it does not require further investigation,” source said.

Johnson said in a statement: “I am not guilty of any contempt of parliament and did not knowingly or wittingly mislead the commons.”

Do you think he sought reassurance that it was ok to discuss the findings of the draft report before commentating on them?

borntobequiet · 14/06/2023 22:36

Dorries won’t resign. Where would she go? Not the HOL to be sure. She doesn’t have the intelligence, talent or presence to do anything else, realistically. She did extraordinarily well to advance as far as she did, given her lack of quality, but that isn’t uncommon in the current incarnation of the Conservative Party, where mendacity and mediocrity will get you a long way.
It’s pretty clear that the conditions she’s stated for her departure can be strung out indefinitely, so she’ll stay until the general election.

Clavinova · 14/06/2023 22:36

Nope - wrong person

No, right person - I quoted you from the wrong thread by mistake - but you introduced the morally superior Ian Blackford with a lengthy post on this thread.

Nope - wrong person. I didn't say anything about Boris and Pincher. Go look at a 1000 posts if you want.

"That's convenient. You posted about Boris Johnson's 'defence of Chris Pincher' earlier in the thread"

It's ok to say you made a mistake.

DuncinToffee · 14/06/2023 22:39

He was abroad wasn't he? So maybe he asked the bartender.

Or Alexa?

Dorries won’t resign. Where would she go? Not the HOL to be sure. She doesn’t have the intelligence, talent or presence to do anything else, realistically.

She's obviously quite a successful novelist;
2022 - So far, Ms Dorries has sold over 2.5 million copies of the 15 books she has written in total.

jgw1 · 14/06/2023 22:51

Is Alexa his latest mistress?

Not in the league of Jeffrey Archer (320 million copies) (and yes, I have read one of them)

I am sure she would find something to do.

Try 'his' instead of 'Boris'.

It's funny for the amount of time you all say to ignore me <as you clearly struggle to take me on> or to ignore Clav's inconvenient links with evidence you really cannot get past a few hours without mentioning us. Would anyone like a signed photo to pop on your fridge? 😘

'Unfortunately for some people the concept of the passage of time is just too mind-blowing for comprehension.'

Passage of time I do comprehend thanks. However the rules for Sir Korma's buffet were the same, no unnecessary buffets allowed. Work related fine but as I seem to have to keep on saying it cannot be work related in one county and an illegal debauched 'party' in another.

Back to the juvenile names I see.

Sorry - you haven't provided a link.

And that's not like you.

This is what you said

"That's convenient. You posted about Boris Johnson's 'defence of Chris Pincher' earlier in the thread"

Not this thread or in the one before

Go on - a 1000 posts

Oh - and you can retract your statement about what you thinking I don't care about Blackford and thedefence of sexual advances as well

"but you don't care about Ian Blackford's defence of former SNP chief whip Patrick Grady - relating to 'a sexual advance towards a teenage staff member [male] in 2016"

This is a thread about Boris. Any derailment either about dogs in cars, dancing nurses or Sir Beer will not be tolerated.

More juvenile name calling. @Janiie it's not clever.

Happy to - once you have confirmed what you are thinking of Ian Blackford in this instance, although I am going to bed now.

I don't need to confirm anything - you posted without evidence. Not responding to your derails does not equal not caring.

But off to bed? Good excuse

And still no quote - a bigger person would say they got it wrong.

Look forward to your derail attempts when the report comes out tomorrow. Unfortunately I will be at work so won't be able to comment. But I can predict your comments.

cakeorwine · 14/06/2023 20:53

It's also critical thinking to know when not to bother engaging with derailers.

But to ask "Why are they doing it?"

And then not engage.

It's critical thinking to remember that this is not about his parties but whether he mislead Parliament in his statements to Parliament about the reassurances that guidance had been followed, or even whether he sought reassurances that guidance had been followed.

Do we think he sought reassurances that guidance had been followed and was he told that guidance had not been followed but told us that guidance had been followed?

Or

Did he not seek reassurances but told us that he had sought reassurances?

Exactly.

And the fact people link to guidance and rules of the time that don't correspond to the actual events but rather to tell the story they want.

Link to others doing/saying things which has no relevance to a discussion about someone else.

It washes over me but after years in education I'm use to conversations like this from petulant teens!

Morning everyone! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾

Notonthestairs · 15/06/2023 06:56

Johnson will publish his own statement at 9am. It is included in the Privileges Committee report but I dare he wanted to add a final 'flourish'.

mirages08 · 15/06/2023 07:00

De Pfeffle's shenanigans mean only one thing: this report is about as damning as it can be
🙂
As someone who watched loved ones funerals over zoom, I hope the venal, self serving cockwomble disappears onto the US after dinner circuit
But...I fear he will try and stage a return...like a turd that won't flush💩
Although I don't see him standing for the Tories...

LlynTegid · 15/06/2023 07:11

@mirages08 There are plenty of lovely people in the United States, they do not deserve the presence of Mr Johnson.

I still feel that he should face a number of criminal charges for actions or inactions during 2020.

itsgettingweird · 15/06/2023 07:30

Fabricant on R4 this morning trying to claim the privileges committee have changed investigation and it's into whether he just misled parliament - and taken out knowingly.

That's apparently why he was found guilty.

Be interesting to see if this is true when the report comes out.

As was said before:

1st December "What I can tell the right hon. and learned Gentleman is that all guidance was followed completely in No. 10."

8th December "I repeat that I have been repeatedly assured since these allegations emerged that there was no party and that no covid rules were broken. That is what I have been repeatedly assured. "

I guess he might have been repeatedly assured by people who were at the party that no rule were broken and there was no party.

And that all guidance was followed.

Zonder · 15/06/2023 07:42

Fabricant is one of those people who it's hard to believe anyone voted into his position. He has such a warped world view. Along with Dorries. How did anyone look at either of them and think yeah, you would be a great representative of our party, you should stand for election?
