Thanks IClaudine, have asked for my follow up thread to be deleted Smile

He basically expected other people to back him up in his lies, didn't he? But Jack Doyle declined to set himself on fire to keep Johnson warm.

Alexandra2001 · 13/06/2023 09:28

Nope because Bojo was proven to have lied and acted illegally, your allegations are unproven

My allegations that Starmer lied are not unproven at all - he clearly made false statements, hence the police investigation. Whether he broke the law or not is a moot point

Most certainly is, we have your allegations and the police investigation on both men...

Johnson found Guilty.

Starmer found Not Guilty, thats our system, over time, maybe you will learn to accept this & you will find some peace?

We also have Bojo dismissed TWICE for lying and now found to have misled Parliament... for clarification, Misled is another more polite word for Lying! only escaping being sacked ( for a 3rd time for lying) by his constituents because he has been allowed to resign.

https://www.newstatesman.com/comment/2023/06/gulf-between-johnsonian-right-reality-boris-johnson-tories?

For Johnson and his followers, the following make up the architecture of their political understanding: that Boris Johnson is a political titan, a vote-winning machine, felled only by the establishment.

The delusions of the Johnsonian right

The former PM’s acolytes see the world as they would like it to be – not as it is.

His mindset becomes ever more fascinating. He is told that he must not tell Parliament that no rules were broken because that would be a lie, so he goes straight into Parliament and lies. Then he expects the people who told him that to throw themselves under the bus to protect a discredited ex-Prime Minister, and is utterly outraged when (a) they won't do it and (b) the Privileges Committee chooses to believe them rather than him, because of course he has such a fine track record when it comes to telling the truth.

I mean, is he totally delusional? Or is he just hoping that there are enough total idiots out there that they will continue to believe his lies and get him back into power and keep him there till he eventually retires in Churchillian glory?

You are the one who seems to be on edge, not me. As I have already stated - whether Starmer was found to have broken the law or not is a moot point - he clearly made false statements - i.e. he lied. My previous posts for context;

Once a liar - always a liar?

Well, that's rather worrying - we know that Keir Starmer told a string of lies regarding his meal in Durham: he lied about how many people were there (he said 'about six' - there were seventeen people including Starmer), he lied when he said his 'hotel wasn't serving food that evening' (the hotel was serving food on the terrace until 9pm), he lied when he said 'all the hotels and restaurants in Durham were shut' (they were open for outside eating in groups of up to six - Starmer ate at an outside restaurant in Hull the evening before, and then posed for publicity photos, socially distanced, wearing a thick coat, in the cold), he lied when he suggested that the curry was impromptu (it was planned in advance)... Not to mention that Labour head office lied when they said Angela Rayner wasn't there.
Whether Starmer was fined or not is irrelevant - he still told a string of lies - for whatever reason.

As far as I am aware, Durham Police allowed Starmer an exemption for work purposes - that doesn't mean he had no other options, and he clearly tried to cover up how many people were there.

I dunno if he's thinking at all at this point. The whole thing has been a complete failure of logic and strategy.

Please could we stop enabling clav to derail the thread? Durham is irrelevant.

Yes quick quick stop it! It is so horrid to keep bringing up an exact same situation where one group got fines and another got off with it. Sir Beer even lied about numbers attending their buffet! But it's Boris that's the liar. So there.

BestIsWest · 13/06/2023 10:31

Just placemarking.

Rhondaa · 13/06/2023 10:33

'We'll have Sir Korma and Ange doing that in bucketfuls soon enough though'

'Oh gosh, yes - Angela Rayner was going on about the 'world stage' the other day. Can you imagine Angela Rayner on the 'world stage'?? Don't give up - the polls are edging upwards I think'

'Westminster voting intention:'
'LAB: 42% (-1)'
'CON: 31% (+2)'
'LDEM: 12% (-1)'
'via @ DeltapollUK, 09 - 12 Jun'

From the previous thread but one to repeat. Yes I know the thread isn't about voting intentions and as such is a 'derailment' going by the Bozo thread new rulez but still. Thought we'd all like to see it again 🙏.

I hope you have forwarded your findings to the appropriate authorities.

Now whatabout Johnson misleading parliament, any opinion on that?

jgw1 · 13/06/2023 10:36

I read a comment on the previous thread that Boris is successful.

The only things I can think that he has been successful at is creating children and then running away and getting sacked from jobs.

For those who are saying what was going on in Downing Street at the time "doesn't matter", please watch the Covid-19 Inquiry opening video

It matters a whole lot.

They clearly know already, hence the investigation. As I have already stated several times - whether Starmer broke the law or not is a moot point - he still told a string of lies, for whatever reason.

He didn't break the law. It's not a moot point. That exemption is the one that let your hero relied on very heavily.

Meanwhile, could you maybe address the actual topic of the thread?

The group that broke the law got fined, the one that didn't, didn't. What is your view about Johnson lying to Parliament about what observance of the rules?
