He has done nothing wrong. Except the gold wallpaper and trusting Cummings.

An answer, finally

Poor Janiie - leave her alone!

Why? She's been endorsing Johnson's lies for months.

pointythings · 13/06/2023 18:23

I don't understand why the Boris fangirls can keep on believing that a group with a Tory majority which has come up with this condemnation is a media led smear. Bernard Jenkin is one of the biggest Brexiters around - what more do people want?

Notonthestairs · 13/06/2023 18:24

Harriet Harman was unanimously voted in as Chair by the members.

The Privileges Committee Chair does get a vote unless there is a tie.

They have an independent & 'in-house' advisors to ensure process is followed.

And there is Conservative majority on the Committee overall.

They only produce a recommendation which can then be amended & voted on by MPs.

Parliamentary sovereignty. Exactly what people voted for.

heartsinvisiblefury · 13/06/2023 18:24

'gold wallpaper' is all he's done wrong 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Notonthestairs · 13/06/2023 18:25

Sorry, Chair doesn't get a vote unless a tie.
Perils of failing to proof read.

Facts don't matter, you just have to believe.

cakeorwine · 13/06/2023 18:28

Just checking in for later.

Yellowdays · 13/06/2023 18:52

He's a whining liar, like his bullshitting mate in America. And how funny, him calling Sunak a liar 🤣 . Talk about pots and kettles.

Good riddance to him and his hands in the till cronies, and I hope he never comes back.

@ Janiie honestly! You actually said on this thread that children could have parties, that they weren't banned. Someone then provided proof in a link of a letter from Johnson about this

Josephine's letter is dated 21st March 2020. Children could have birthday parties on the 19th June 2020, albeit outside. One of my young nieces (similar age to Josephine) celebrated her birthday that week as well - my niece had a birthday party with five friends in her back garden - which was allowed at the time. Parks, zoos and non-essential shops were also open that day.

Josephine's party is not really a fair comparison because she knew about her planned party in advance, whereas Boris Johnson did not know there was going to be a gathering in the cabinet room - neither did Rishi Sunak (unlike Starmer in Durham). In any case - Josephine could have held her birthday party (outside) on Johnson's birthday in June 2020.

My niece's birthday party lasted for 2 or 3 hours.

The event [in the cabinet room] lasted between 14.25 and 14.45

I know which 'party' my niece would choose.

Notonthestairs · 13/06/2023 19:04

Bit surprising that Johnson didn't have his birthday gathering with 5 others in the garden then isn't it?

I believe he did - in the evening.

Notonthestairs · 13/06/2023 19:09

Ah. Didn't feel the need to apply the Guidelines indoors. Silly me.

LlynTegid · 13/06/2023 19:20

A reminder of how low Mr Johnson may have stooped. Allegedly he wanted to honour his father. A man who had assaulted his own mother.

Even Jimmy Savile would not have treated the memory of his mother in such a way.

The Covid crisis was in the past - not that he worked that hard even then

There's plenty of evidence in Sue Gray's report to suggest he was working quite hard:
The Prime Minister finished a meeting at 18.19 and then attended the Press Office to say goodbye. He remained for a short time, saying a few words of thanks... before returning to his office for his next meeting which was scheduled for 18.45.
The Prime Minister joined the quiz at approximately 19.50 to read out the questions to one of the rounds... He remained at the event for 12 minutes before returning to his office.
The Prime Minister attended for around 15 minutes from 19.50 to 20.05, giving a speech thanking both No 10 Officials (1) and (2) before returning to his office for further meetings.

DuncinToffee · 13/06/2023 19:26

As Johnson is desperatly trying to delay the report being published, I expect we will see a lot of Keir's beer the coming days:

Durham police investigated, and found no laws broken.

A subsequent review of that investigation found: no laws broken.

Legal experts reviewed that review: no laws broken.

4 independent legal opinions were sought: no laws broken.

7 legal inquiries, and each of them found no laws had been broken.

jgw1 · 13/06/2023 19:34

Rhondaa · 13/06/2023 15:37

'why did the Prime Minister make birthday parties illegal and yet have his own?'

He was at work. No party occurred. Some over enthusiastic plods issued fpns. The end.

I am speechless.

jgw1 · 13/06/2023 19:35

itsgettingweird · 13/06/2023 17:09

I can't work out if jwg is being a sock puppet and adding more stature.

It's someone aiming for her top spot in providing it

Or someone who's spent too long out in the sun.

Its not me, but they are very convincing.

Although I do think they could the odd But Jeremy Corbyn.

Jason118 · 13/06/2023 19:35

Of course they don't believe a word of what they type, it's just a form of odd entertainment for them.

jgw1 · 13/06/2023 19:36

Rhondaa · 13/06/2023 17:27

I didn't realise jgw added stature tbh. Not sure what this 'top spot' is that you speak of. Someone goes on about kids parties a trillion times a day and that's stature? Well you learn some new everyday.

Well if you @Janiie just got on with answering why a 56 year old should have a birthday gathering but millions of children were not allowed to, we could stop discussing it.

But you won't because there is no answer.

What? that is just a list of debauchery isn't it. He stayed at the zoom Xmas quiz for 12 mins! how very dare he my dc didn't get birthday presents for 3 years thanks to him.

jgw1 · 13/06/2023 19:39

Rhondaa · 13/06/2023 18:17

It's hard not to sometimes. The fact remains the whole thing has been constant whipped up smears led by the media and critics.

He has done nothing wrong. Except the gold wallpaper and trusting Cummings.

So you are happy with the Prime Minister lying in Parliament.
What low standards you have @Janiie

Ah, are we back to if you only break the law for 20minutes it doesn't count.
Would it count if it was 60 minutes?

DuncinToffee · 13/06/2023 19:45

"Ambushed by a cake"

Coining that excuse earned him a knighthood

Johnson got a FPN
