What are you ‘I’m old’ references that younger folk might not understand ?
I’ll start: ‘too orangey for crows, it’s just for me and my dog’

Ooh , I have just remembered I used to love watching Paperplay with Susan Shranks and the 2 puppet spiders.
The weather this week has also reminded me of the 1976 drought. We had to share the once a week bathwater, then it was poured into the paddling pool and finally used to water the plants.
😂

I watched Paper play with itsy & bitsy ! I can remember being quite captured by it . There is bits of it on youtube . Also @Eomt you may remember "A handful of songs" ( on you tube ) . 🎵 We've got a handful of songs to sing you 🎵 .
I stumbled on it quite by accident and fell down an anti-ageing hole , I was five again

You missed an 8 there I think. 01 811 8055.

What was that? I remember the number clearly, but not that it was for. Blue Peter? Swap shop? Something like that.

Yup. 0-1 8 double one 8-0-5-5.

Swap shop.

Like you always know the postcode for BBC TV - Broadcasting House, London W1 1AA

Dial-a-tune. Think it was 116? Used to dial it and get some tinny pop song down the phone.

stringbean · 11/06/2023 22:43

Anyone remember Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop from the 70s?

Also that quiz show called Ask the Family where parents and their two terribly precocious offspring answered general knowledge questions - proof that there were pushy parents in the 70s Grin.

And Screen Test with Michael Rodd - it was about the only opportunity you ever got to see a 'short excerpt' of film without going to the cinema! Other than those 'Wonderful World of Disney' things they used to air at about 5pm on a bank holiday Monday - only time you ever saw a clip of Disney film without going to the cinema.

Gosh I remember that ! Where do I remember that from ?

wildinthecountry · 11/06/2023 23:14

Thinking back to that time (70's) we as kids never really got to see Disney cartoons like Snow White and the rest (pre video) . We were lucky if we got to see clips on TV programmes .
The other thread about TV theme tunes , I nominated Looney Tunes music as the best theme tune , 'cos basically we were lucky to catch a cartoon , and lets be honest it is a great tune . Go and have a listen on Youtube .
