It's been a while, I haven't had one since new years eve and it's safe to say I am scandalised.....

For reference it was one bag of salt and pepper chicken balls with a bag of chips

One mixed meat satay with fried rice.

A tub of mixed ribs.

One tub of crispy seaweed but it's not seaweed.

I would have said £30-40 (sw London).
It's just me and my daughter and we manage to spend £70 (inc tip) on an average takeaway. Usually enough left over for lunch the next day as I always over order.

babyproblems · 27/05/2023 20:47

This would absolutely not feed three people in our house!!! I’m going to guess cost £35/40 but if we ordered that between three there would be a murder!!!
we tend to share rice and a starter/side or two but most people want one dish or to have half and half! My guess is you have no teens or men under 40 in your house 😁

£25 here plus you'd get free prawn crackers

We spent A HUNDRED QUID on Chinese takeaway for three adults the other week. And that was with the discount for collection. Madness.

And we paid £57.13 for three cod and chips, two gherkins, two pots of homemade tartar sauce and a Diet Coke last night. The portions were massive, though.

You can get decent fish and chips here at a local chain restaurant for about $23 (before tax/tip) with 2 pieces haddock, coleslaw and free extra chips. (Vancouver).

Feefee10 · 27/05/2023 20:50

£20 where I am excluding delivery

Twilight7777 · 27/05/2023 20:50

I don’t know probably about the £30 mark, but that wouldn’t have fed 2 of us 😂

Fuckitydoodah · 27/05/2023 20:52

About £25 around here (South West of England)

caringcarer · 27/05/2023 20:53

About £35 in Chinese I use but if delivered add on £5

caringcarer · 27/05/2023 20:53

Yes, we get free prawn crackers too.

We are kinda screwed. Fish has nearly tripled in cost.
Oil has tripled in cost
Potatoes have doubled in cost and struggling to source them. Chances are many shops will close soon down to no potatoes.
Shops are handing back their keys as they cannot survive this cost of living crisis
What do you suggest? Change our status to a charity?

Well I just won't use them so 🤷

Ihatepickingausername3 · 27/05/2023 20:55

About £30-£35 depending on where you go

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 27/05/2023 21:10

About £25

defi · 27/05/2023 21:16

£30?

IHateLegDay · 27/05/2023 21:18

I just priced it up on just eat and it was about £28 😱

IHateLegDay · 27/05/2023 21:20

Where do you live OP?? I'm guessing you must be near London for those prices?

mastertomsmum · 27/05/2023 21:22

Difficult, because there’s not really what I’d call main course good there. But, that said, I guess 40-45 quid if deliverood, cheaper if collected. Also, they don’t gone in ‘tubs’ here

God what a boring thread. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't pages and pages of "£30-£35 round our way"

New are you?

Youvdont have to post on a thread, you don't have to read all the posts, just move on and chose another thread, no one will smack yer bum.

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 27/05/2023 19:59

If I paid £51 for 3 portions of fish and chips I'd complain about it until the day I died and then I'd jump up after my death to remind everyone.

Ridiculous!!

Depends where you live and if it’s delivered

JudgeJ · 27/05/2023 21:26

Here, mid Norfolk, the mains are usually £6 - £8.50, the ribs are about £6, the fried rice is from about £3 - £7 and they don't do chips. It would be about £25-£28 but not enough for three, what would you have for lunch next day or midnight fridge raiding?

Ostryga · 27/05/2023 21:27

Showdogworkingdog · 27/05/2023 20:38

On holiday in Norfolk last year I ordered fish and chips for four of us and it was over £60. White faced, I stumbled back to the car clutching the takeaway bags and only then remembered my son’s girlfriend was with us and I needed to go back for another portion. Still not over it tbh.

It wasn’t at No1 in Cromer by any chance was it? Have made the same mistake!
