What would this chinese takeaway cost where you are and have a guess at what I paid

It's been a while, I haven't had one since new years eve and it's safe to say I am scandalised.....

For reference it was one bag of salt and pepper chicken balls with a bag of chips

One mixed meat satay with fried rice.

A tub of mixed ribs.

One tub of crispy seaweed but it's not seaweed.

It' would be about 25 quid here, not incl. delivery.

I need to go out, can you tell us the answer?

Where do you all live?!!
*
Our regular order is:

Special satay (big tub absolutely stuffed to the brim - will do 4 portions easily)
Crispy chilli beef (as above)
Chips
Fried rice
Noodles and bean sprouts
*
£18.50 delivered. *

That's insanely cheap. Definitely not the norm in the U.K imo.

It's the norm round here. West Yorkshire.

God what a boring thread. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't pages and pages of "£30-£35 round our way"

At least it's on here and not someone doing it IRL where you can't escape Wink

Confused The OP asked people how much it'd cost them so pages and pages of precisely that is surely what you'd expect.

To be shared amongst 3 adults by the way.......I'm not a glutton as well as being tight as a ducks arse !!

I'm gonna SAY about £50 we pay £42 for two of us for Chinese. Oh just had a KEBAB £22.00!just for his.

cocksstrideintheevening · 27/05/2023 19:27

£30 ish delivery on top. Are you going to enlighten us op?

3luckystars · 27/05/2023 19:28

€33

Yes the norm in your area but I'd expect that the average takeaway U.K wide would cost considerably more.

delilabell · 27/05/2023 19:28

About £30 here

sparklyIsPretty · 27/05/2023 19:29

£ 38 with delivery

Wexone · 27/05/2023 19:31

around 35e here and free prawn crackers would be loads for three people in this house and possibly have leftovers

tallsmallmum · 27/05/2023 19:31

as close as I could get to that order was £33.90 delivered. seriously considering it now 🤤

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 27/05/2023 19:32

Well it's here. And the portion sizes are good and it's tasty......it was £43.70 😬

That’s expensive aright.

KatieYoYo · 27/05/2023 19:34

Blimey!! That's a lot of £

Evenstar · 27/05/2023 19:35

£34.80 for us, but they give free prawn crackers if you spend £20

Neverinamonthofsundays · 27/05/2023 19:35

That seems decent value actually. I paid 30.30euro this evening for a chilli chicken in cashews with noodles and two kids chicken nuggets and boiled rice.

openstop · 27/05/2023 19:36

That seems reasonable

Kyse23 · 27/05/2023 19:37

£40 I just made it (north west) on just eat

But if you got a munchies box or a set meal it would have been cheaper for similar stuff

Yerroblemom1923 · 27/05/2023 19:38

£30. Seems a lot of food! Why have you tipped it all out and coddled it all together?!

stillherenow · 27/05/2023 19:38

I spend £62 on a Thai takeaway for 2. It’s really really nice but jeez .

jaundicedoutlook · 27/05/2023 19:38

Gives me the absolute horrors when people put East Asian food all on one plate. Mixed up. Massive boak factor.

Small bowl for the rice, then take a small amount of one dish, add to rice or out on a side plate, eat it, then have some of the next item.

MathsNervous · 27/05/2023 19:39

£30 approx

gazpachosoupday · 27/05/2023 19:39

Really bad, we spent £80 yesterday on a Chinese, 2 adults and a child with hollow legs, we got enough to feed us and with leftovers

Yerroblemom1923 · 27/05/2023 19:40

@jaundicedoutlook I know, right?! What a mess! Keep the prawns separate to the meats and the rice separate and the seaweed separate. Who tucks into everything poured out together on one plate?!
