It's been a while, I haven't had one since new years eve and it's safe to say I am scandalised.....

For reference it was one bag of salt and pepper chicken balls with a bag of chips

One mixed meat satay with fried rice.

A tub of mixed ribs.

One tub of crispy seaweed but it's not seaweed.

Just priced that up with my local Chinese restaurant's menu, and it came to £25.40.

Well having spent £51 on fish and chips for three people recently …. and I’m still boring people with this … I’d say £50.

I spent £40 on fish and chips a while ago, for three people! I'm yet to recover. Tbf, the portions were massive, I'd had a small fish and chips and there was more than I'd have expected for standard sized.. but.. STILL!

diddl · 27/05/2023 19:59

If it's tasty & a good portion I would say just over a tenner per adult isn't bad.

If I paid £51 for 3 portions of fish and chips I'd complain about it until the day I died and then I'd jump up after my death to remind everyone.

Ridiculous!!

£34

almostoverthehill · 27/05/2023 20:01

Are you sure you wasn’t overcharged! What was individual prices? That’s extortionate

LuckyStone · 27/05/2023 20:01

OP that is expensive, here it would be around £30

Oopsiedaisyy · 27/05/2023 20:01

Just under 40 here, I'm in south UK

LuckyStone · 27/05/2023 20:02

Where do you live OP?

GnomeDePlume · 27/05/2023 20:03

£31.50

universityhelp · 27/05/2023 20:04

I looked it up at our local one out of interest, it would be £33.30 plus delivery would be a couple of pounds extra, so about £35.

I'm in the south east. However, does that include prawn crackers? My local doesn't give them out anymore so that would be an extra £2!!

purplesky18 · 27/05/2023 20:05

It would be almost half that cost where I’m from! I’m in the south east which is expensive but from a little village that has one Chinese takeaway and I’m glad they have cheap prices, I’d have a shock for £40 for that portion too!

I have noticed the fish and chip price increase and it would be on par with a Chinese now a days. I begrudge shelling out for chip shop when it’s meant to be the cheapest take away!

Phos · 27/05/2023 20:06

Just over £30 where we are.

Lemonyyy · 27/05/2023 20:06

£50 for 3 fish and chips???? It’s the only takeaway we still do semi regularly as I can still feed the 5 of us for about £30 round our way!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/05/2023 20:12

I'm in Vancouver, Canada. Three dishes cost me $75 before tip recently (chow mein w veg and mixed seafood, wor wonton soup and lemon chicken).

Onepotatoetwopotatoe · 27/05/2023 20:13

35

Lemonyyy · 27/05/2023 20:15

Also I roughly costed this in our local and it was £25.50, although we don’t have “mixed ribs” so I just added spare ribs. Even if you ordered another rib dish it would be £31.20

that probably would be just enough food just for me and DH though 😂

😳 I’ll read this if I ever feel the need to move to Canada

EmeraldPanda · 27/05/2023 20:16

£45

2kids2catsnolife · 27/05/2023 20:16

£30 quid plus delivry

Mirabai · 27/05/2023 20:17

Most recent cost £112 for 4. (Japanese).

(You can’t get chips at Chinese restaurants near me so I’ve no idea what it would be).

God what a boring thread. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't pages and pages of "£30-£35 round our way"

It’s a question about how much a Chinese takeaway would cost. What were you expecting? £15 but I give the delivery driver a blowie and he gives me a free crispy duck?

And I'm sorry to say it was awful: undercooked and barely warm. 😢
Not typical here at all (but price is).
