I’ve been trying to work something out and just wondered - what sort of job/career makes that’s sort of amount (5k per month / £60k per year actual take home amount)

I just about clear that, I’m a head of dept for a housing company

OneHundredOtters · 23/05/2023 18:11

About 100k per year before tax and pensions. Depending on pension amount obviously. Law, financial services, senior management etc

My dh works as a tradesman but in film and TV. He takes home around the 60k mark. Many of the other jobs that work alongside earn similar. So set dressing, painters, props etc. He loves it.

My man is a bricklayer. He earns a bit more than that

Think some people missed the take home aspect!

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 23/05/2023 19:14

I earn more than 60k and don’t quite clear 4k with pension of 7% (and tax/NI). I imagine to take home 5k I’d probs need to be on about 85-90k…

brawhen · 23/05/2023 19:14

I make that in a good year, but it is my own company (with DH, plus employees) so it's not salary and not guaranteed.

CherryRipe1 · 23/05/2023 19:15

Senior account manager (sales rep?)

NerrSnerr · 23/05/2023 19:16

I work for an ICB (what was a CCG) and there is at least one band 9 nurse (but possibly more) so will be on £100k. Very rare (I'm a band 6 so nowhere near!!)

Retrievemysanity · 23/05/2023 19:16

Lawyer or finance director

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 23/05/2023 19:17

Figures dont add up.
60k after tax etc wouldnt clear 5 k.

CantFindTheBeat · 23/05/2023 19:20

I work in technology, OP.

Plenty of senior project managers, programme directors, consultants, senior leads on upwards of £100k.

GoodChat · 23/05/2023 19:23

@UserABC12345 you forgot tax, NI etc

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 23/05/2023 19:23

Head of Health and Safety. Could take home
that put plough a lot into pension as over £100k you start and lose personal allowance

Things dont work that way though, not as simple as that.Take home on 60k salary isnt 5k after tax, pensions other deductions. As other posters have confirmed.

What would it be then ? If someone gets £5k per calendar month ? I’d just x12 !! Maybe that’s the wrong way to calculate it

Regular taxes means you need an k come of about £88k- this is without pension contributions

What job would have a take home pay of approx £5k a month?
