If you like musicals obviously!
I love Hamilton, followed by les mis and wicked. Also going to see jamie this year.
Hamilton with the original cast on Disney is just incredible.

Hopping on to this thread to ask a question of all you experts what shows you recommend I can take my 12 yo DD to?
We saw Wicked yday and loved it, but I'm not sure what else a 12 year old would enjoy?

bettyjane · 30/04/2023 20:04

Saw Hadestown on Broadway recently and it was so good. My new favourite.

Meredusoleil · 30/04/2023 20:05
  1. Mamma Mia
  2. The Lion King
  3. Six/Matilda/Wicked
buckleten · 30/04/2023 20:21

Evita is fantastic, as is Hamilton, Wicked and JCSS. Six is also very good, and I loved Heathers too.

Six! I think it should be compulsory viewing for every teenage girl in this country.

I agree. My girls loved it. They were 10 and 13 when we watched it.

I’m old school - Starlight Express is due a comeback, surely?!

I've never seen it - maybe too much risk assessment involved😀

Like most of them

South Pacific, Beautiful

Mama Mia

Very pleased to see the Hamilton love - not remotely fancying it but have tickets for July, so hoping you are all right.
I love a film musical but of the on stage ones, 42nd Street was absolutely fantastic.

StillMedusa · 30/04/2023 20:47

Jesus Christ Superstar
Les Mis
Chicago
West Side Story
Evita
Six
Cabaret
Blood Brothers
Fiddler on the Roof
Cats

DS2 has autism and is obsessed with musicals (and I love them) so we go to as many as we can... I think we've seen JCSS 8 times now!
Nothing beats that thrill when we here the overture starts!

Zipps · 30/04/2023 20:49

Beauty and the beast
Chicago
Sound of music

Pashazade · 30/04/2023 20:52

@MyBloodyMaryneedsmoreTabasco I would strongly recommend you read a really good synopsis before you go to Hamilton. I have only watched it on Disney but the first half an hour or so is a huge information dump which you will enjoy a lot more if you already know what's going on! (I had been reading a biography so had some clue). It is brilliant and the staging is fantastic.

Sirzy · 30/04/2023 20:53

Wicked closely followed by Blood brothers. I can sing word for word the soundtracks to both (but not when there obviously!)

MyBloodyMaryneedsmoreTabasco · 30/04/2023 20:54

@Pashazade that's really helpful, thank you very much.
