Good when I was a kid, a bit crap in recent years, awful now.

What other foods have turned to rubbish?

Tony's Chocoloney is the way to go. It's really expensive, I only get it when it's on offer - but my god, it's worth it.

Totally underwhelming

Agree that Giant Buttons still taste as they ought to. And I'd like to put a word in for Lidl's JD Gross chocolate, too - I treat myself to it every so often and it's creamy and lovely.

What I want is salt and vinegar Golden Wonder crisps to be available like they were when I was a kid. They were amazing. I miss Golden Wonder.

You can buy Golden Wonder from Amazon but usually in bulk (24 in a box).

exLtEveDallas · 25/04/2023 18:15

Dark Milk is the only Cadbury’s I buy now, it’s probably the least worst option.

Rowntrees fruit pastels. They’ve changed them and not for the better.

They are vegan now and absolutely disgusting. I used to love fruit pastilles too

For the toblerone lovers- M&S mountain bars are a good replacement.

m&s chocolate generally is probably one of the better ones.

Ooooh I had forgotten about them. I used to buy them years ago and they were so good.

Going to investigate my local teeny one to see if they have any.

NutellaEllaElla · 25/04/2023 18:17

Did you know your sense of smell, which is highly linked to your ability to taste, deteriorates with age?

IHateLegDay · 25/04/2023 18:18

Dairy Milk ☹️

Strawberrydelight78 · 25/04/2023 18:20

The Aldi own maltloaf used to love it. But now it's dry and stodgy. I'll pay a bit extra for the soreen one rather than eat that crap.

Bettysnow · 25/04/2023 18:21

Wouldn't touch kit kats or any nestle products

Strawberrydelight78 · 25/04/2023 18:22

Cadburys Easter eggs were amazing when I was a kid, my daughter got a couple this year, and I sampled some (mum tax) and it was rubbish!!! Tasted really oily and artificially sweet.

I've agreed with pretty much every single post on here tbf 😂

NewBrightonEel · 25/04/2023 18:25

Milk Tray - nowhere near as nice as they used to be

Oh I didn't know this .

Strawberrydelight78 · 25/04/2023 18:26

My autistic son is really fussy with chocolate since Kraft took over. He noticed before I did it tasted different But he will eat a twirl, flake and Cadbury buttons. Even then he has to be in the mood to eat it.

Strawberrydelight78 · 25/04/2023 18:28

Definitely and quality street there was loads left on the shelves at Christmas. No Heroes Celebrations or Roses.

GellerYeller · 25/04/2023 18:28

Yes Lucozade tasted much better in glass bottles and before it got Jamie Olivered to buggery with all the sweeteners.
Where are all the fruit polos? They used to be in Spars and petrol stations, multipacks at Asda. Not seen any in months 😢

Outrageous victim blaming!

Wagon Wheels. I am sure they used to have some crunch to them, now they are just waffly. And rubbish chocolate (but that's nothing new)

Daleksatemyshed · 25/04/2023 18:31

Now the salt, sugar and e numbers are vastly reduced in food nothing tastes quite the same. I want proper Lucozade with that vibrant orange colour, it was bloody lovely!

Vinvertebrate · 25/04/2023 18:35

Tayto crisps and Golden Wonder available on Amazon - both better than Walkers now.

Vinvertebrate · 25/04/2023 18:36

@LadyGardenersQuestionTime they also used to be frigging massive. My DSis and I used to fight to see who could get it in their mouths sideways. It hurt! Now they’re frigging fun size.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 25/04/2023 16:02

Oh top intel! I've never tried them. Will remedy that!

Aldi chocolate is very acceptable too, especially the Moser Roth brand. I used to love milk choc Aero but it's a shadow of itself now.

viques · 25/04/2023 18:37

KnickerlessParsons · 25/04/2023 15:07

Kit Kat's lost me when they stopped wrapping them in foil.

Most chocolate is crap these days IMO - up until a couple of years ago, I'd do pretty much anything for a bar of chocolate and probably had a bar of chocolate every day. These days I very rarely buy it.

To be fair if you got a bit of the Kit Kat foil in your teeth is was grim. So
plastic wrapping is ok by me.

Mostar · 25/04/2023 18:39

Fannyinfinefettle · 25/04/2023 18:04

Ribena and most soft drinks. I had to prepare for a colonoscopy re and the advice is to take the prep with squash - I bought some expensive squash and it was still foul. The sweeteners just ruin it.

I've never been into Ribena, but there's this ace video on YouTube of an American bloke reviewing British snacks. Seriously, he's got this big box of stuff and he's going through everything, giving his judgement as he goes. Anyway, he gets to the Ribena bottle, cracks it open and has a swig. Without diluting it. Hilarious. You have to watch it just to see his reaction.

Emotionalsupportviper · 25/04/2023 18:40

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 25/04/2023 15:04

Ribena.

YES!

It's filth now.

Anything that has NEW AND IMPROVED on the packaging. It doesn't matter what it is because you can guarantee that it will be worse than the one you enjoyed before they buggered about with it.

I always think new and improved means they've changed the packaging, probably made the product smaller, and a bit more expensive!
