Good when I was a kid, a bit crap in recent years, awful now.

What other foods have turned to rubbish?

Every drink that has replaced sugar - whether it is replaced with artificial sweeteners or ‘natural’ ones like stevia - they all taste awful.

Lysianthus · 25/04/2023 17:31

Roast beef Monster Munch. Smaller feet and not as beefy and salty. Grr.

Exaspa · 25/04/2023 17:31

Pretty much everything that was once a pleasure now tastes ruddy awful - palm oil in the chocolate, even Tony Chocolonely has changed the recipe, we reckon, after the last couple of bars; anodyne flavourings and not much crunch in most crisps (besides which you now only get 6 to 10 in a packet, once upon a time they were floating with flavour), even fish and chips tastes of, well, nothing any more. And don't even get me started on "Saint" Jamie and his single-handed quest to ruin soft drinks.

It's a pretty joyless world we live in these days. Next you know they'll be cancelling Christmas.

Hotfootgoose · 25/04/2023 17:32

tizer. Used to be our Christmas fave

Magnoliainbloom · 25/04/2023 17:33

I think you are missing a trick if you haven’t had organge KitKat. I never liked the original one but the orange one is divine.

Improbablecat · 25/04/2023 17:37

CarpeDiemCarpeDontem · 25/04/2023 17:17

There is a full sugar version out now called irn bru 1901 and it’s just like the old stuff with no sweeteners! I like it so much I emailed to ask if it’s permanent and it is

You're right, but they sell it in big glass bottles or oddly shaped narrow tall 330ml cans that rattle around unsatisfyingly in my car's cup holder. And it's expensive! I'm determined to remain annoyed about this 😄

Mostar · 25/04/2023 17:38

Twiglets are shite.

SpicyMoth · 25/04/2023 17:39

Coco Pops are god awful now. They do not satiate my need for nostalgia childhood cravings </3

timetorefresh · 25/04/2023 17:39

I like a Kit Kat when they forget to put the biscuit in

Grumpypotamus · 25/04/2023 17:42

I wonder what food our younger generation will miss when they are older..

I came to say this too. They were so bland and a bit chemical tasting.
The other flavours are just as bad.

youngestisapsycho · 25/04/2023 15:45

ALL soft/fizzy drinks have been ruined by sweeteners...

I so get this & agree with you!

I don't have much sugar in my diet, so if I want a drink I don't mind a bit of natural sugar, it's far better than that awful artificial sweetener taste 😑

HaalandisaDon · 25/04/2023 17:44

Seabrook crisps taste very chemical and I don't like the crinkle cut style.
Used to love all the flavours especially straight cut cheese and onion but they are very disappointing now.
Used to enjoy Walkers crisps but only like the Ready Salted ones now.
Lidl do some paprika crisps which are my new go to crisp

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 25/04/2023 17:45

Pringles. Even the texture has changed. They don’t snap like they used to.

Delia123 · 25/04/2023 17:45

Anything that has NEW AND IMPROVED on the packaging. It doesn't matter what it is because you can guarantee that it will be worse than the one you enjoyed before they buggered about with it.

Tanktanktank · 25/04/2023 17:50

Wagon wheels, I’m a child of the late sixties, they are the biggest disappointment, small, thin chocolate and totally tasteless.

I had a Malteser chocolate cake bar the other day, that was a total disappointment too.

I do very much like the thin and long lindt bars of chocolate, they have a red multipack which is often on offer in sainsburys and the bars are often on offer in the co-op or Tesco locals. I wouldn’t pay full price for them though.

Nobody’s asked what really matters. Where the fuck have beef and mustard brannigans gone??? 😡😡😡😡

Where are the ham & pickle!!?

Oh God, yeah.

Ots the best thing ever. Like find a pot of gold.

Salt and vinegar Pringles - used to love them, now seem to make my lips go white! Can’t eat them.

Me too. Bought some at the weekend and was v disappoonted

Like pretty much all drinks, J2O is disgusting now. I only ever had one once in a blue moon at the pub and ordered one the other day. I managed two sips and that was it. Full of sweeteners now.

Totally agree!

Ginandrosemary · 25/04/2023 17:53

Cadbury is awful now. I really enjoy M&S chocolate and Aldi.

runningonberocca · 25/04/2023 17:55

ComeOnThenFanny · 25/04/2023 15:20

Tony's Chocoloney is the way to go. It's really expensive, I only get it when it's on offer - but my god, it's worth it.

I think it tastes a bit cheesy or vomity … I really wanted to like it but I really don’t like it.

Fannyinfinefettle · 25/04/2023 17:56

@hennybeans I agree about J2O - I had one last week and it was disgusting. I rarely drink alcohol and the pub that my meeting was in didn't have Fentiman's ginger beer, which is my preferred soft drink. The J2O was undrinkable, I had to have a glass of water to take away the taste.

Kellogscorncrakes · 25/04/2023 17:56

@Mostar with you on the excess raisins! I usually have fruit and fibre cereal of a morning and I swear it's 90% raisins. They're so bloody chewy I'm surprised I haven't lost all my fillings!

Bluevelvetsofa · 25/04/2023 17:57

Walnut whips. The M&S one is so small now, that it won’t be long before the walnut is bigger than the whip part.

Moser Roth is the best affordable chocolate. Ritter is lovely, but pricy.
