Kit Kats are dead to me

Good when I was a kid, a bit crap in recent years, awful now.

What other foods have turned to rubbish?

Kit Kat and Twix were my favourite. They're not as good anymore, Kit Kat is somewhat manageable.

Ferrero Rocher is beginning to be hit and miss. They're using softer plastic for the containers now, no problem but no need to change the formulation. Tastes a bit too sugary sometimes. Now I can pace myself eating it as a result.

MissDollyMix · 25/04/2023 17:11

Ah so glad the Twiglets thing has been mentioned. I haven’t had twiglets for year but my mum bought a bag at Christmas and when I tried one I thought they were off and had to spit it out it tasted that bad! Absolutely vile! I won’t blame my poor old mum for keeping rancid Twiglets anymore.

Also agree with others on Ribena and for that matter anything with sweeteners added, I just won’t buy it anymore.

On the topic of chocolate. Aldi is nice. Tony’s was an enormous disappointment. I mostly just eat Lindt now.

Baileys. Used to be really thick and gloopy, now the texture's like water.

Try Coole Swan. With ice.
Similarish to Baileys but imho nicer.

ItsThePlayBusDingDing · 25/04/2023 15:28

Wham bars.

They used to be so sour, and sticky enough to glue your jaw together.

So disappointing now.

I thought they'd died out yonks ago!

MissDollyMix · 25/04/2023 17:12

Tried Tayto cheese and onion crisps recently and they were lovely. Much better than walkers.

ttcat37 · 25/04/2023 17:13

tobee · 25/04/2023 17:08

Gone? Say it isn't so?

Twiglets have never been the same since they stopped being 8 inches long, came in a box and pierced the inside of your throat on the way down.

Curry ones were good though 👍

Yeh, gone gone as well. Discontinued. I used to make a special trip to a petrol station 10 miles away for them. One day they were gone. Googled it and they’re discontinued.

givemecoffeenow · 25/04/2023 15:30

Also is it just me or is cheese just not the same anymore?

No, it's all wet and slimy now when you open the packet up, and it definitely doesn't bubble and melt and go golden brown like it used to do.

Tarkan · 25/04/2023 17:14

On the subject of crisps, I recently bought some McCoys and they were like crumbs compared to the massive crinkly crisps you used to get. It was so disappointing.

legrandcolbert · 25/04/2023 17:14

JenniferBooth · 25/04/2023 16:27

@legrandcolbert I was right to go for the Flake Easter Egg then. It was nice

Oh yes!

In my considerable experience as a dedicated Cadbury's consumer, Flake is best to stick to. Also, giant buttons, buttons and little bars - all of these still taste as they should. Maybe it's the thinness of chocolate? Also, I find eating it all from the freezer helps too.

MathsNervous · 25/04/2023 17:15

SiobhanSharpe · 25/04/2023 16:30

For the poster who bemoaned the lack of whole hazelnuts in Cadbury bars -- Ritter sport do a whole hazelnut milk chocolate bar. No palm oil and 30 pct cocoa mass.
Ritter Sport does make decent chocolate (it's a German brand) with a wide selection of different bars. DS went round the factory a few years ago with a German lad he was visiting and brought back an amazing selection of bars.
(don't mind Tony's Chocolonely, it's nice and chunky, even if the shape is a bit weird.)

Best chocolate around. Seriously. I recently had the salted caramel one and orange one. Delicious.

hennybeans · 25/04/2023 17:15

Like pretty much all drinks, J2O is disgusting now. I only ever had one once in a blue moon at the pub and ordered one the other day. I managed two sips and that was it. Full of sweeteners now.

ReformedWaywardTeen · 25/04/2023 17:15

Coca cola.
Tastes rank now
Ditto Cadburys chocolate, tastes of oil and sadness

MathsNervous · 25/04/2023 17:16

*Ritter Sport.

Lots of people say this, but I was distinctly underwhelmed.

I don't like Chocoloney either, I find it tasteless.

Improbablecat · 25/04/2023 16:13

Irn bru

I still have a couple of cans of the old full sugar original recipe stuff in my car for "emergencies"

I wonder how much they'd sell for nowadays 🤔

There is a full sugar version out now called irn bru 1901 and it’s just like the old stuff with no sweeteners! I like it so much I emailed to ask if it’s permanent and it is

Ooh! I'll try that, cheers.

I never get the angst here, to me chocolate and crisps are still great

Tayto were always better than Walkers though Smile

ComeOnThenFanny · 25/04/2023 16:03

Oh I think it's bloody lovely. I like a Freddo too, and a Twirl. And Minstrels.

Funny someone said about Ritz crackers upthread, I had one this morning and was tasteless. I've got Bell's Palsy atm though, so I thought it was my taste buds!

Haven't had ritz crackers for a while but the Aldi version of them are quite nice. Only downside is they do seem greasy although I'm not entirely sure if ritz are also like that too

Walkers Cheese & Onion crisps - they have a terrible a terrible aftertaste.

Literally just eaten a pack of walkers salt and vinegar and thinking the same. Had a pack the other day that didn’t taste right. Almost a ‘gone off’ taste. Not pleasant and won’t be buying them again.

Get lidl deluxe mature white cheddar it's delicious!

JulesJules · 25/04/2023 17:24

Ritter Sport chocolate is delicious. My local Sainsburys does a few bars as does Lidl, or Amazon.

Oh yes, probably my favourite.

whole nut, and the marzipan one.

speaking of, I also like the niedegger and Anthony berg chocolate.

Whichnumbers · 25/04/2023 17:27

Ive started just buying lidl or Aldi 85% chocolate, as the other stuff is hurting my throat its so sickly and cloy

Cranarc · 25/04/2023 17:28

Dairy Milk. Have not eaten it for years but was given an Easter egg. The chocolate was so waxy it would not break off in pieces and you could squish the egg into any old shape.
