What other foods have turned to rubbish?

I don't like Tony's chocolate either. I tried. It's worse than Cadbury.
Twiglets, ruined. See also Cheese Footballs.
Ritz crackers have changed for the worse almost overnight very recently.

EarlGreyAndCucumber · 25/04/2023 16:17

Tony’s Chocoloney was found to be using child labour in its supply chain. So, not ethical, expensive and still tastes crap.

Also is it just me or is cheese just not the same anymore?

Even blue cheeses seems to taste blander than they used to.

DisforDarkChocolate · 25/04/2023 16:21

I'm not keen on Tony's either. Too many with salt in and a bit bland.

Harry Spector's now, wonderful chocolate.

tailinthejam · 25/04/2023 16:21

givemecoffeenow · 25/04/2023 15:09

Also don’t know if it’s just me but most chocolate doesn’t taste as good as it used to 😕

That's because most chocolate now contains palm oil.

You see, I love Flakes. But they're so messy to eat and they're tiny now!

Because of the way Flakes are made, they're the only Cadbury's recipe that hasn't been changed. I imagine this is the same for Twirl's inners.

It's a shame both are teeny tiny now. As are Twix.

I accidentally bought some vegan cheese - still getting over the shock. Nasty taste, plastic texture. Grim.

MeinKraft · 25/04/2023 16:23

Cheese is definitely different. It no longer melts properly.

stbrandonsboat · 25/04/2023 16:23

Everything tastes either bland, odd or too sweet. Or it's shrunk.

I think it's probably better to eat home made stuff and just avoid the processed things. We've cut loads of things out because they're horrible now. Can't find nice chocolate either, although the Lidl chocolate orange Easter egg we bought was very nice.

Bloatstoat · 25/04/2023 16:26

I hadn't realised until you said this, but it's true - I had thought it was my oven not working properly but everything else cooks.

I so miss a good Cadbury Easter egg Sad

milafawny · 25/04/2023 16:26

heinz tinned ravioli. Ive not had it in atleast 20 years but the other day i was starving and raiding the cupboard of easy food for my teens to make while im working. I swear they used to be twice the size and actually taste of something.

purplecorkheart · 25/04/2023 16:26

So glad that other people mention McDonalds. There is not one very near to me but on my last trip away there was one near my hotel and the hotel food was priced insanely. Honestly it was so so bland. When I was in Uni a housemate worked in a McDonalds franchise and used to bring home food and it tasted a million times better even reheated.

Tony's Chocoloney is the way to go. It's really expensive, I only get it when it's on offer - but my god, it's worth it.

I bought one and thought it tasted awful. I had a milk one, dontou recommended any of the others?

DahliaMacNamara · 25/04/2023 16:27

I can endorse the Aldi Stackers/Prongles. I've had the occasional tube that hasn't quite hit the spot, but on the whole they're a superior product to the current Pringles offerings.
I'm surprised it hasn't come up already, but Aldi chocolate is pretty good too.
I'll tell you what's dead to me, and that's Anchor butter, which I saw temptingly priced at £1.80 this morning, then I backed off sharpish when I saw the pack had changed from 250g to 200g. I know this happens all the time, but you can't fuck with people's butter purchases. They might be making cake.

JenniferBooth · 25/04/2023 16:27

@legrandcolbert I was right to go for the Flake Easter Egg then. It was nice

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 25/04/2023 16:28

@JenniferBooth mmmm I’ve not met them yet.😋they sound yummy.

l just mean white coated 2 finger ones. Dd usually eats them before l get to them. But l did have a brief taste, and they were gorgeous.

Shortpoet · 25/04/2023 16:28

Ambrosia rice pudding. Used to be delicious and creamy. Now hard rice and bland.

No fucking with cakes! (Or any situation where cakes might remotely even be involved)

Yes to Ritz!!! I bought some today…was so looking forward to them. But bleuh…what have they done to them?

SiobhanSharpe · 25/04/2023 16:30

For the poster who bemoaned the lack of whole hazelnuts in Cadbury bars -- Ritter sport do a whole hazelnut milk chocolate bar. No palm oil and 30 pct cocoa mass.
Ritter Sport does make decent chocolate (it's a German brand) with a wide selection of different bars. DS went round the factory a few years ago with a German lad he was visiting and brought back an amazing selection of bars.
(don't mind Tony's Chocolonely, it's nice and chunky, even if the shape is a bit weird.)

notquitesoyoung · 25/04/2023 15:32

I am not a lover of salt generally beyond missing it if it isn't in bread but they need to put the salt back in Twiglets - they just taste burnt now. Totally ruined.

Oh god, this. Burnt and just nasty. So, so disappointing. They used to be my snack crack, Twiglets did.
