Anybody else have a word they can’t stand?

Two words I hate for reasons unknown to me - moist and buggy. No idea why.

By contrast, I love ‘bumble bee’ and again I have no justification.

Surely I’m not the only oddball who has this irrational like/dislike of words?

How did I guess that moist would the word mentioned in the OP.

Why is it never pulchritude, or pustule?

A lot of the words listed are i think linked to a dislike of the meaning of the word rather than just randomly disliking the word.

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 30/09/2023 22:29

Cunt. In all ways it can be used but especially when describing anatomy.

Shag.

Sick. As in "that's sick" to mean somethings good.

That song ‘Like a G6’ has a line ‘getting slizzard’. I can’t listen to it. What a foul word .

RicherThanYews · 11/12/2023 16:35

Jambalaya, eurgh. Tasty food but awful word.

Meal, roasties, girlie

Sibling

I know it's a proper word but it was hardly ever used until about 15 years or so ago. Talking about " my sibling" when sister or brother will do fine seems odd.
I don't even like the sound of the word.

Himawarigirl · 11/12/2023 17:44

Tipple. It’s just a drink, say drink!!!!!

Yep and Nope.

It reads as passive aggressive to me and irrationally gets my back up each time I receive an email with either of these as responses.

RaginaPhalange · 11/12/2023 17:57

I wonder why the word moist attracts such opprobrium?
