Anybody else have a word they can’t stand?

Two words I hate for reasons unknown to me - moist and buggy. No idea why.

By contrast, I love ‘bumble bee’ and again I have no justification.

Surely I’m not the only oddball who has this irrational like/dislike of words?

Hibye23289 · 14/04/2023 22:56

Oh and also when people use the word essentially in a sentence where it's not essential to use the word essentially.

Abcdefgh1234 · 14/04/2023 23:01

Just came back from a restaurant, and their dessert menu had the option of a hot drink with a small dessert or a smidgen of cheese and the word smidgen made me shiver!

CantFindTheBeat · 15/04/2023 08:27

I have another - dirty! When used to describe food,

Dirty fries
Dirty burger

Makes them sound disgusting.

Dollmeup · 15/04/2023 08:28

Also hate it when people refer to "the boob" when talking about breastfeeding. "He's started coming off the boob".

Grim

threecupsofteaminimum · 28/08/2023 22:50

‘Meal’

It’s bad enough when it’s just meal, but when people say we had a lovely meeeeeea-ull, they really roll that shit about - argh

Kleptronic · 29/08/2023 01:01

Luncheon. I have a colleague who declares they're off to luncheon every day and every day I want to do slaughter.

neilyoungismyhero · 29/08/2023 01:01

Panties
Treats
Poo

Jerseybake · 29/08/2023 01:07

Obviously moist like everyone else but I also hate the word chocolate. It's just too overpronounced if that makes sense? "Choc-o-lat" eeww! I can't hardly even bring myself to say it which is tricky when I want some because I bloody love the stuff!

It also really winds me up when people say 'smashed it'. Regular offenders get blocked 😅
