What to do with damp microfibre cloths

WannabeMarieKondo · 06/04/2023 20:12

I use microfibre cloths in the kitchen. They are about 30cm by 39 cm. I don’t want to hang over the tap and don’t want them in the sink getting smelly .

I cannot find a caddy that has a bar to hang it on that is high or big enough. I ordered ine that looked ok, but it’s 25 cm high, the bar, and the cloth is too large to go on it .

Any ideas ?

What do others do ?

here ar some ex apples, not tall enough. They have pics of cloths in them but they must be small beciase I’ve ordered similar and had to send back.

I have a little hook on the wall by the sink.

OddsocksinmyDocs · 06/04/2023 20:19

I just bung mine in the washer with clothes as soon as I'm done with it 😊

MaryJean87 · 06/04/2023 20:20

I use it a few times then I throw them in the wash. I hate dirty cloths hanging around the kitchen.

I fold mine into quarters and keep it on the draining board till the end of the day then put it in the washing machine and start using a fresh one in the morning.

The walls are all glass so can’t put hooks on .

You can get sticky hooks

I wipe round a few times a day , not to clean dishes but to wipe round worktops etc . So doesn’t get dirty enough on one wipe round . Plus I do a wash once a day or once every two days .

id I wiped once and put in the wash8ng machine I’d have six or eight clothes used .

I put them in the washing machine. Got a few so I can use a clean dry one each time.

I don’t let the, get dirty, I wipe round the worktops, hob etc .

That would be damp though and get wet on worktop.
I wanted to hang them on a caddy . All the caddy’s seem to be made for tiny cloths !

Why do all these pictures of caddy’s show cloths and yet mine are too large for them !

I have an ordinary bucket in the utility room, I drape the damp one over the top and then it goes in the bucket when it's dry until I've got enough (plus tea towels etc) for a load.

I have a pack of about five . But I use more than once , so where do you put them in between or do you wipe once and then wash ?

I wipe the worktops and often they aren’t that dirty , just damp.

Small city flat. No utility room and small kitchen , no room for buckets .

Over the oven? On a radiator? Sew a corner loop and hang them on the kitchen cupboard handle?

SirChenjins · 06/04/2023 20:50

I just wring mine out till they’re practically dry and fold them and leave them on the draining board. I don’t wash them with fabric softener or I find they’re difficult to wring out well. They get washed every day.

TrafficBlocking · 06/04/2023 20:50

Fold it and then hang it on the caddy? Or just use them for cleaning elsewhere- bathroom or something and buy some smaller ones?

JustFrustrated · 06/04/2023 20:50

What about a hook in the inside of your under sink area? Tbh I just lay mine on the radiator.

I keep my house spotless, but it's not an Instagram house. People live here. So it doesn't matter I have a cloth on the radiator.

Ifailed · 06/04/2023 20:51

stick them in the dishwasher.

I quite like the size , it’s not for dishes as have a dishwasher . It’s to wipe the worktops and the hob .

I suppose I was hoping there was one of those caddy’s that had a higher bar to put it on.

no radiator as a small open kitchen .

trying to keep the kitchen clutter free as it’s small, so not wanting hooks on the doors.

No draining board as use a dishwasher and need the worktop space as a very small kitchen in a small city flat .

Even folded they are too bulky for the caddy .
